  1. Yeah, Animal Friend definitely sounds neat. Do you know if it affects the nastier critters (Yao Guai, Mirelurk Hunter)? The downside is that those are a big chunk of the XP you get while wandering aimlessly... XP and leveling aren't really issues if you spend even a moderate time exploring. The level cap is actually coming on too quickly for me, and I'm usually someone who never hits level caps. I'm at level 14 right now and I'm actively avoiding the main quest line :D Yao Guai are friendly and very helpful. I haven't run into a Mirelurk to test it out. Insects still attack, so radscorpions are still a pain. I haven't seen a Deathclaw in a bit, so that will be interesting.
  2. Hahaha are you being serious? Yep, it's made exploration pretty interesting. I have a lot less stuff attacking me as I wander the wastes, and when those weird zombie wolf things come to my aid against raiders, they can be very effective. I'm also saving on ammo!
  3. I would have to say The Great Train Robbery was my favorite Crichton novel. He was an amazing guy. Supposedly he wasn't even that set on being an author, he just published his early works to pay for medial school and the career took off on him.
  4. Somebody is stupid alright, but I'm not sure it's the rest of your country in this case. Being 'black' is as much a culture as it is a skin colour, because biracial people suffered and suffer the same injustices, racism, and segregation as 'pureblood' black people. And for the record, mulattos are definitely considered 'black' by that culture. DR, what exactly is your point here? Are you claiming he's not a black president? Because half black is still a lot more than any other president in US history. It just seems like a pretty odd statement, even for you.
  5. That's really a question for the publisher of a title.
  6. I'm a friend to animals now, and a whole family of molerats helped me take on an annoying horde of robots.
  7. Portal is the only FPS recently that I really enjoyed, but I guess that's more of a puzzle game. I'd recommend Bioshock because it does a great job of creating a unique atmosphere and game space. I play all the Battlefield games too. BF2142 is pretty great.
  8. It's funny that the only ones saying negative stuff about Fallout 3 are the folks that haven't even played it. It's pretty much an overwhelming success for anyone who has played it on these forums. Even folks who expected to dislike it have come out fairly positive. I think I've only heard one person who wasn't impressed, and they were more 'meh' than actual dislike. It's a very good game, an excellent sequel to the Fallout series. All three games have a lot of positives. I don't see why we need to tear one down to celebrate the others, we are lucky that all three titles are excellent games.
  9. Dang, I lied my way through that entire book. Oops.
  10. There is a matter of good taste, and I fail to see how headshotting children is in good taste.
  11. Heh, he hasn't even played Oblivion. He's basing his opinion of Bethesda on games they released in the 90's, apparently.
  12. That's awesome. I shot your boyfriend in the back and took his suit.
  13. God and Allah are the same dude.
  14. Well, you had 5 million people vote against homosexual rights in California. I imagine a good chunk of those people are really bigots, but that number seems a bit high. I know some are just religious and they believe marriage is a religious issue. I'm not sure if that's bigotry. I just don't know. My principal is gay and we were discussing it at lunch today. He's been with his partner for about 20 years. I was really surprised how nonchalant he was about the issue, but then I realized he's probably been facing discrimination his entire life. He's in his 50's, and just the fact that he can bring his partner to staff parties is probably a huge step forward over the last 30 years. Marriage is probably pretty far down the list on his basic rights. That makes me a little less upset, but it's still a frustrating civil rights issue.
  15. I'm just not getting your perspective. At all. I see it as simple discrimination. But I'm not trying to single you out, Aristes, and I'm not going to hold a grudge with you about it. My parents very likely voted Yes on 8 despite my very emotional plea to them. I don't care much about the politicians that were elected. I'm happy that Obama won and broke down a barrier for minorities, but he's a politician and so was McCain. Big whoop. I see prop 8 as 5 million people choosing to withhold rights from a minority, and it's emotionally disturbing for me. As a teacher, I have to remain an unbiased source of information for the students, and so these forums are one of the few places I can vent my frustrations.
  16. You don't actually need to travel with him. I just fast traveled and he met me there.
  17. I love how grenades and mines take the legs off of people. On Deathclaws:
  18. woo F3! Actually I probably would give the nod to 1, since it established the franchise and told a fantastic story. I wasn't a big fan of 2, I know people like the fact it was a lot of hours, but that was a negative for me. It dragged out and didn't hold my interest. But I voted for Fallout 3 just to keep it spicy. It is fantastic and once I finish it, I'll be able to make a better decision.
  19. But you said earlier that you voted for Prop 8? That wasn't a vote against the CA supreme court, that was a vote AGAINST gay marriage. You are insane. I'm very upset. I'm just surprised that there are 5 million people in this state that would actively discriminate. I think those 5 million people should have to go to the houses of already married gay couples and explain to them why their relationship isn't legitimate, but I'm starting to think that wouldn't be a problem for many. Fear mongering and outright lying served the prop 8 supporters pretty well in this election.
  20. Fantastic concession speech by McCain
  21. Wow, I'm wondering how those holograms work?
  22. That's interesting, I hadn't hard that before. It's a shame.
  23. I agree, although I think they should develop an ES game before every Fallout game. That way they can make a ton of huge mistakes in the ES game and correct them for the Fallout game.
  24. McCain and Obama are remarkably similar in their policies. I'm not sure if you will really know the difference. My vote is based on the VP candidates this year. The insurance company of the lady who hit my car finally accepted full liability. It's been two months of headaches.
  25. Why does Obsidian have a spotty track record? They've released three successful titles. They might not have been huge blockbusters, but I doubt they failed to meet expected sales numbers.
