  1. Do you already have L4D? Next week I plan on using some of my vacation time playing it.
  2. Battlefield 1943 http://pc.ign.com/articles/952/952301p1.html I got all excited at the title, but then I read they are going with unlimited ammo and regen health. I'm not sure about all that, seems like they are cutting a few of the great parts of the original. If they add a MMO style leveling system a la CoD4 and BF2142 I might still dig it.
  3. The bad guy was Lincoln? All the apes look the same to me.
  4. Started STALKER last night, courtesy of Gametap. What a beautiful game! The combat definitely takes a bit more caution than most recent FPS games I've played recently. So far, so good, but I'm really just looking forward to creeping around the zone with a decent rifle and exploring. I'd like to pick up King's Bounty down the road, it looks phenomenal.
  5. Not everyone has or wants cable, satellite providers like Dish and DirectTV offer better prices for more channels. So if you don't want cable, your only choice is DSL.
  6. Is there any reason why one is better than the other? Nah, it can really vary area by area and depends on the service provider. I had DSL for a long while, but when I moved the phone company told me it was going to take weeks to get it hooked up. I called the cable company and they had it running in a few days.
  7. The only reason to use the EA store is if you are looking for a title that you can't get anywhere else.
  8. Comparing L4D to Portal is like comparing the zombie version of Monopoly to Tetris with cake.
  9. Different vendors have different policies, but the download itself is pretty simple. You can pause it, interrupt it, whatever. You can usually download it multiple times if needed. Basically you create an account, and the game you buy is tied to that account. It should download pretty fast with any broadband connection. You will be surprised at how fast if you've only ever downloaded off free servers.
  10. Holy crap, that's genius. I didn't think about that at all. I'm happy with the pace, there is a lot of backstory being fleshed out, but there are enough little questions answered along the way to make it worth it for me.

    NHL

Ovechkin also has a pretty solid physical game. Bure was great, but he was strictly a goal scoring machine.
  12. Hope you like quicktime events, because there will be a bunch. Just so that you know. I don't think I've ever heard someone say they disliked BiA. Even with the completely saturated WW2 shooter market, I thought it stood on it's own quite well. Anyways, if you didn't like the gameplay, the title Colonial Marines doesn't inspire much confidence that it will be different.
  13. You're a glass is always half full type of person, aren't you, Hurlshot? I respect that. You are consistent anyway. Thanks. It drives my wife nuts, to be honest. She finds it difficult to complain about stuff to me
  14. I read in the business section today that it is very likely console games are going to drop back to the $50 mark.
  15. I remember the wargamers discussing back then whether or not it was possible to convert Warhammer into a computer setting. They can be just as passionate as computer gamers when their favourite franchises are involved In the end, Dark Omen put the (harshest) critics to shame by being a real little gem. Much better than Chaos Gate (a Warhammer 40k tactical combat game ala xcom) anyway. I absolutely loved Chaos Gate. But I played it wanting a new Xcom, and didn't care about W40k at all.
  16. Fallout 3 rocks though. I played the originals when they were released, and Bethesda captured the atmosphere of the property to a tee. They are the perfect example of why it is great to dig up old IP's and breathe new life into them.
  17. Star Control has all the makings of an RPG, so I can see Stardock tackling that IP and coming out with an enjoyable game.
  18. I enjoyed versus tremendously today, so I'm sorry to hear that. Playing the zombies is top notch fun.
  19. Olyphant (or whatever) is actually a pretty entertaining actor. I still thought the movie was atrocious, but it wasn't unwatchable. I thought it was more an issue of a bad script. Plus, I had recently seen the most recent Bourne movie, and considering the plot parallels, it was hard not to compare the two.
  20. Played through a versus round of L4D. Boy, playing the undead is a ton of fun. I was a failure in my brief play as tank, but I started to get the hang of the other three classes. I almost wish I could just play undead, instead of switching back and forth. I managed to get on the chopper in my first play through, but the rest of my group was killed. Ah well, we weren't close.
  21. As long as you aren't causing the marital problems, smirk way.
  22. Seconded. But the whiners coming out of the woodworks are just part of the natural reaction any successful product has. It's the same reason people feel the need to complain about The Dark Knight. I thought it was very well done in most regards (exception: every time you got into your ATV). But it wasn't to my tastes. I like that they went for a cinematic feel, I just don't particularly care for the type of cinema they decided to imitate most directly (i.e., unsophisiticated 'yay hero! boo villain! ignore the plot holes!' summer popcorn flick). That's a good point. The game was very clearly a summer action popcorn flick. The previews made it out that way, Bioware has been leaning heavily that way. And the game really hit that nail directly on the head, so when people complain about it, it's like they are complaining that the game was exactly as advertised.
  23. Seconded. But the whiners coming out of the woodworks are just part of the natural reaction any successful product has. It's the same reason people feel the need to complain about The Dark Knight.
  24. Oh, I would not have done that. Valve has been, accourding to the Steam forums, neglecting the 360 when it comes to patches - or rather the patches are always late, if they come at all, due to Microsoft's handling of them. Isn't that par for the course with Valve? The dirty failboxers haven't gotten any of the TF2 updates either, as I remember. I haven't heard any stability complaints. I got it on the 360 so I could play with my dad. Last time I bought CoD4 on the PC and EVERYONE was on the 360, so it would be my luck that everyone switched back for L4D.
