It might not really matter to you, maybe you enjoy typing this stuff out, but I don't take any of your posts seriously, you are kind of like a cartoon character to me. Day 5 - We got a rental car, because we will be in the same place for the next 4 days, and I want to be able to drive around easily. Today we went to Mesa Verde and explored the cliff dwellings. I had to carry Skylar most of the time, but it was pretty easy hiking so no problem there. We took the Longhouse tour, which is one of three different tours you can take that get you into the actual cliff dwellings. It was pretty impressive, just the fact that the sandstone bricks are still in remarkably good shape after hundreds of years. Oh, I bought a new hat yesterday, and it is super comfortable. Don't make any jokes! We also ate at a family restaurant with a microbrewery, J. Fargo's. I messed up and ordered a raspberry honey wheat bear, which turned out to be rather fruity and girly. I haven't been able to find any of the porters that taks recommended yet.

That's interesting, I don't think I've heard so many people profess atheism without science before. I've always heard stories about people finding God towards the end of their lives. Now I'm sure there is some exaggeration there for religious propaganda, but it's an interesting story, for sure.

Really? why? I don't see why it's arrogant, or especially how it's depressing, not to believe in a God or gods.. or how it's stupid to believe for that matter. Oh, I see now, I didn't mean that believing is stupid, I meant all religions have stupid parts to them. But they are man-made and man-driven, so that is inevitable.

I didn't say anything about atheism being stupid, but I can qualify the arrogant and depressing part: Arrogance - There is a ton of stuff in this universe that I am comfortable admitting I don't understand. Most of the conversations I've had with atheists leads to them trying to explain emotions like love on a scientific basis, or why humans wage war, or feel the need to worship in the first place. These explanations always seem lacking to me, and I just find it rather pompous to think that everything can be explained by science. Depressing - Religion serves a very real purpose. It gives people hope in difficult times, and it gives them something to look forward to, a reward at the end of the road if you will. What, exactly, is the purpose of atheism? Where is the greater good? When you are on your deathbed, is it going to comfort you to know that all your growth, knowledge, and uniqueness is going to be snuffed out for good? I doubt it, even Darwin was an agnostic in the end. I think life without spirituality is rather empty. This is a magical world, but only if you believe in it. I don't really want to know the brain synopses that are triggered and cause me to love my daughter unquestionably, I just want to enjoy it.

Day 4 - We travelled from Williams AZ to to Cortez CO, and it was the best stretch of driving so far. Beautiful red rocks and green prairies, as well as a ton of interesting Navajo trading posts and other sights. Here we are at the Four Corners of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah. It is the only place in the US where four state lines meet. Here was something that reminded me a bit of Fallout 3.

I don't really disagree with that. Although I think you have to take each religion as a separate entity, rather than lumping them into a general category. The stupid parts of each religion tend to vary a lot, as do the depressing parts.

I've always seen atheism as one part depressing and another part arrogant. But reality shows aren't really reality, so any conversions will probably not be too serious.

It sounds like your mom has a great support network Wals, and that can often be the difference.

We are taking I-80 through Reno, so we are avoiding Tahoe. We are actually stopping over in Virginia City overnight and visiting a relative in the Reno foothills. I love Tahoe, but we've been there quite a bit and it's not an easy drive on our rig. Wals basically nailed the description of the necklace, it has large pieces of turquoise with handcrafted silverwork. Here's an example, it does look pretty good on her.

She actually has saved about $700 for the type of necklace, a squash blossom with turquoise, but she really wants the big one. I've owned both. The 360 is cheaper and has a better library of games, but has more technical problems. You can count on it lasting for about 3 years, after that is bonus time. The online component, Xbox Live, is superior to the PS3's. The PS3 has dropped in price but is still expensive. From a performance standpoint, it's a better system, but it hasn't caught up on the software end. If you are interested in having a Blu-Ray player, it's a pretty solid deal. The PS2 had about a 9 year life cycle, and it looks like the PS3 will at least match that, so it's a decent long term investment over the 360.

I'm really enjoying following the Giants right now, they've got some great young players. I didn't think they'd be anywhere near a playoff bid this season, either. I'm not a huge fan of the sport, I really only like to watch the last couple innings of games, but since I started playing MLB 09 The Show, I've really gotten more interested in the details of the game.

We are making a big loop, starting in the Bay Area of CA, going south and east through Arizona, up to Colorado, then north through Utah, and back west through Nevada. I'm used to high gas prices, the Bay Area is usually higher than anywhere else in the country. I was just surprised at the huge jump for the holiday weekend.

Day 2 - Ok, I have the picture ready to go. This is from our day in the Mojave Desert, we really were in the middle of nowhere. We were fairly close to Edwards Air Force Base, which I believe is a major one. I also passed a recliner sitting on a sand dune quite a ways out, and then a mile later I passed a love seat. I'm sure there is a story there. We arrived in Williams, AZ today. I think most people assume all of Arizona is super hot, but it's in the 80's here and very nice. It was actually the hottest right at the border of AZ and CA, it was 110 degrees. For some reason gas was also $3.70 a gallon there, but when I got to Williams it was about $2.90. That was a hefty jump, I spent $125 in gas today. So far Williams is really nice, and the RV resort is pretty fantastic. We saw a shootout earlier and ate at a restaurant with a car from the 50's on the roof. We also had a great raspberry wheat beer from the local brewery, The Grand Canyon Brewery.

Day 1 - I'm in the Mojave desert, and the internet connection is horrid, so no picture today. We move on to Arizona tomorrow. Lots of cactus and sand.

Why would that be? At this point, I'd say with all the social networking sites, pictures of young'uns are all over the place.' T-minus 1-day and I've got the fridge packed. Now I know some of you will freak out about the lack of beer, but I'm just not a huge drinker. I do plan on buying some local brews when I get to Colorado, so I'm hoping taks can enlighten me on a good choice.

I think I read somewhere that the Sens said they wouldn't even trade him after they had to pay the $4 million, so he might be staying after all.
