Anyone else get a Blackhawk Down vibe here?

Large Hadron Collider successfully creates mini Big Bangs

As I've said, I am referring to your entire history as a poster here, not just this thread. The problem I see is you are always confident of your claims correctness, to the point of dismissing other evidence from posters as irrelevant or incorrect. You position yourself as an expert on quite a few different topics, and that in itself causes many of us to be skeptical towards you. That is why I mentioned Zoraptor's post, he presented his claim with evidence, and then he was humble enough to point out that a physicist may have a better claim on the subject. He came across as knowledgeable but not arrogant. I think you are a very reasonable guy WoD, you've posted some great links over the years that have been informative for me and even changed my own stances on occasion (a certain writer on Islamic studies comes to mind.) That is why I find it frustrating when you get into these debates and are unwilling to weigh other evidence. As for the topic at hand, I'm currently not anywhere near educated enough on the subject. I'm not even entirely sure what your side is, is it that the LHC may cause a black hole that will eventually consume our planet? -

What argument? I was making a judgement of you personally. -

Hang on there, Krezack offered up an olive branch. It was very big of him to apologize, and offering to patiently try and explain complex concepts should be met with appreciation. I know I have very little knowledge of black holes or the LHC despite my fancy college degree. WoD, unless this is actually your field, it would really do you some good to be a bit more humble. Zoraptor is the only one here who has really established his credentials and presented actual numbers and evidence. Not that I understood any of it, but you are simply posturing. Although I've seen WoD post in enough debates to know that he is the sort of guy who choses a side and sticks with it, no matter how much evidence is presented. Sure, it would be nice to see him take an open-minded approach and weigh the evidence before fully committing, but that would be a major break from his pattern. -
You are missing out, AP was fantastic. I would put it right next to FO:NV as my game of the year, albeit a very different type of game.

Wowsers! I wonder what this will mean for Obsidian? I don't remember KotOR2 or NWN2 being this big of a success out the gate. This seems like their first genuine blockbuster.

I think you folks take WoD a bit too seriously. -
It was nice to watch the Sharks take the Kings down a notch last night. I'm not terribly into the season yet, I'm still a bit pooped from the exciting Giants run in Baseball and our Basketball team the Warriors are a more engaging early season story. I'm sure I'll get into it when we get closer to the halfway mark. The problem is there is nothing exciting about my Sharks right now. They are a very talented team and they are going to win a lot of games, but it is rather ho hum. I need a surprise performance or something to get me watching every minute like I usually am.

I got lost there as well.

But was that cow genetically designed by scientists? -

You know, if you concern yourself with every little world ending scenario, you just aren't living. Let go and embrace the black hole. -
We should make a "games I go back to every few years or wish I could" List. On it I would have: 1. Xcom 2. JA2 3. Baldur's Gate 4. Fallout 5. Oregon Trail

I got lost in the Hoover Dam for almost an hour at one point, it was frustrating. Still, I felt the locales had a ton more personality than FO3. There weren't any towns with two people, at least.
-
It actually made me a bit nauseous, due to the camera movement. But the style was cool.

Quest for Glory 1 and 4 had great endings. QFG3 had one of the worst though.
-
I agree it is more horror. But, uh, based on real events? Care to fill me in? I've never heard of Frankenstein being based on any real science.

Just beat it, siding with Yes Man. I was actually not happy with the choices I made, so I'll have to go back a bit. I wanted to stick with House, but he went aggro when I didn't kill BoS and I decided to pull the plug. At that point I was going to feel bad if I didn't use my army or robots. I'll probably go back and side with the NCR, I wasn't comfortable kicking them out of the area. I also was upset that I couldn't convince the Khans to not side with Caeser totally. I was vilified with the legion, and part of that quest required me to go into the Legion camp apparently. I convinced everyone but Regis to side with me, so that was lame.

Well, he is a mad scientist.

This makes me angry. http://www.imdb.com/chart/scifi I doubt Inception has the staying power of most of the first ten films on that list, so I wouldn't stress it. In a couple years it will fade to a more reasonable number.
-
I was just impressed that they were able to pull off a decent movie out of the entire idea of Inception. It wasn't exactly your standard action plot. Maybe you went into it with too many preconceptions. It obviously wasn't that hard to follow, otherwise it would never have been a blockbuster. Personally I prefer to go into every movie with no expectations. It makes it a better experience most of the time.

Forgot to log into your Hurlshot alt eh? wouldn't that be an alt of an alt of an alt of a guy with a harp? I have no idea what this means, but it still made me smile :D

Sega is dead to us Obsidianites. Dead to us! Seriously though, did that Gas Powered Games project turn into Dungeon Siege 3? Interesting. More seriously, what an odd resurrection by a bot. I guess it must be programmed to find Sega stuff and then put in a blanket statement about the Dreamcast. Weird.

You know, old school Fallout fans really don't have anything left to complain about it. Sure, the IP got kicked around a bit, made into some lame console games, and basically sat with a bankrupt company for awhile. But then it got picked up by one of the few successful RPG publisher/developers in the business, became hugely popular, and then they even went out and hired another developer to make the next game that was filled with people from the original two. Then they turn around and make the best game in a long while, and it seems to have found both critical and financial success. Jagged Alliance 2 is where the real grumpy old school gamers are at. We've got a bankrupt company and over ten years of promises of JA3 that have all ended in misery. Our IP keeps getting picked up by Eastern European companies that have never released a triple A title and probably never will. Our horizon is truly bleak.

Boo, you shut your mouth about JA2. It is perfect in every way! Seriously though, JA2 makes fallout's tb combat look like a three legged horse in the kentucky derby

Really? For me, a game has to be actually 'hard' to be harcore. And PS:T was not hard, it was actually quite easy, if long. Why would it need to be hard? Tetris and Pacman are hard, does that make them hardcore games? I'd say the term hardcore more refers to appealing to a niche audience, or requiring something outlandish like a pint of blood to play.
