STEAM!
I own it, actually have the case and everything. It is like a decent fan-made remake of Xcom. Everything about it is fairly average. The problem is it really misses the charm of the original. It's hard to explain, but basically Xcom was like magic in a bottle, and UFO:E fails to capture that. It's worth a few bucks though, some people really enjoyed it when it came out. Just the fact that it is an average turn based squad level game makes it fairly unique in today's market. There is supposedly a sequel in the works.

What you did today
Today I cleaned my BBQ, which was crazy dirty. Then I loaded it into the RV for our holiday trip. Then I started the RV, and the battery was dead. I hooked it up to the battery charger and about an hour later it was ready to roll. Then I washed it, which is crazy hard to do. I do it twice a year. I'd pay the shop to do it, but they want like $70. Checked the tires and everything was good. Tomorrow I'll clean the inside and take it to the store to stock up for the trip. We are actually only going away for a night, but it is good to get the RV up and running, we haven't been able to use it much since the baby was born.

I haven't played half the games I bought during their summer sale, so I'm trying to exercise some caution. edit: spoke too soon, I grabbed the kids indie bundle for my daughter.

So Bethesda is pretentious? This argument is getting weird.

Bioware's New Game
He is saying that if Bioware implements timed dialogue, he believes it will be done right. He doubts they will implement it at all though.

"Prohibition has failed"
Yes... because somehow a dead person can be prosocuted. Is it no longer illegal? Here is the US, you can be prosecuted for an attempted suicide. There are some legitimate reasons for this, mostly revolving around the fact that it leads to court ordered therapy for the person. Better hope you don't fail then because if you thought your life sucked before... They aren't going to throw you in San Quentin. You will not serve jail time unless you endanger others. It is a rehabilitation program.

NV had that? You didn't play it? It has all that in spades.

Don't ask Don't tell anyone about the repeal
From what I've heard, women also have better hand-eye coordination. Because they are always so busy doing their nails That wasn't very funny, it was just the first image that popped into my head.

Don't ask Don't tell anyone about the repeal
But it really shouldn't. This is a hang up that doesn't need to be accepted. It is also a problem that lies completely with the homophobic person, and not with the homosexual person. Social change is necessary here, just like racism has been heavily targeted for change over the last 50 years, so must we target homophobia.

As a History teacher, I find those kids annoying as well. I'm trying to tell a story here, quit interrupting.

The day irony died
Those romantic emails portray someone not in touch with reality. Creepy.

What are you playing now
I played a game of Sid Meier's Pirates last night. Why can't every classic be remade like this? It is simply fantastic.

What you did today
I never remember leaving a final exam in college and feeling terrible about it, but as a History major most of my exams were just essays. I did bad in a couple general ed exams like Biology, but I didn't care much since it wasn't my major. All I needed was a passing grade. I used to love the carefree feeling after though. I still get that at the end of the school year as a teacher.

Don't ask Don't tell anyone about the repeal
Well, the Iraq war has pretty much ended that policy for the US. The front lines are undefined, and they need female troops out in the community. Here is a good article on it. Granted, the policy is still to not allow female troops in certain regiments, I believe. But the Iraq war has shown that women are very capable. The only reason to maintain the policy is the fact that young women are more important than young men to a society.

Bioware's New Game
It is fine that you don't like Baldur's Gate, but you really seem to be missing the fact that it was reviewed well, sold well, and has a huge fan base. It was a very good game for many people. Quite a few people who consider it a classic. It appears regularly on top gaming lists. Personally I prefer the BG1 experience. I recognize that is not the majority opinion, but I'm surprised you aren't recognizing how important BG1 was. If it wasn't such a successful game, we probably never would have had BG2, PS:T, IWD, or NWN. It was the rebirth of the Forgotten Realms and D&D PC games, and BG1 was catalyst. I replayed BG1 a few months ago and enjoyed it just as much as my recent Fallout play through. I know quite a few folks who do this.

Bioware's New Game
My circle of friends doesn't dig games like CoD: Black Ops, but that doesn't mean I don't recognize it is a phenomenon. BG was gigantic for the industry.

Don't ask Don't tell anyone about the repeal
GD isn't arguing that it is right to discriminate, he's just saying it is a process and doesn't happen overnight. I think the government took way too long on the matter, this could have easily been done 5 years ago.

Don't ask Don't tell anyone about the repeal
Technically they could serve, they just couldn't openly be gay. It was definitely a homophobia issue. As GD pointed out, twenty years ago homophobia wasn't just accepted, it was expected. Society still has a long way to go, but this is a good show of progress. Now let's get on with the gay marriage issue

Blizzard's leaked product slate
There was a time when comic book adaptation were all pretty sucky as well. It only takes one decent flick to change that. That being said, I doubt WoW will be the one to do it.

Prop 8
How does that explain all the homosexuals who did not have a traumatic experience in their formative years?
-
Prop 8
While it may not be "innate" (i.e. environmental effects may influence it, not purely biology), I have an exceptionally hard time believing that someone "chooses" to be a member of a marginalized group in society, and all the negative stigma associated with it. If it was merely a choice, wouldn't people choose to become heterosexual rather than killing themselves because of being ostracized for being a homosexual? Certainly their are some that choose to be part of a marginalized group, but on such a large scale as homosexuality? That seems highly unlikely. You are looking at numbers in the millions, and it is a group that has existed throughout human history. Typically I've responded to the whole choice argument with this: Do you make a conscious decision to be attracted to members of the opposite sex? Do you look at a list of necessary requirements before decided that a girl is hot? I certainly don't. It requires no work on my part to be attracted to most women. So if someone is really having to make a conscious choice, I see a problem already.
