  1. It always struck me as more of a horror-satire than a legitimate horror entry. I do find them surprisingly enjoyable though, it's awesome how they have kept the cast together over the iterations.
  2. Yes, Russia has been a real beacon of Nuclear technology. They've barely had any major catastrophes.
  3. It's being developed by the EVE Online team, so it does have a decent shot at being playable. It just still seems extremely far away at this point, there has been no actual media released on it.
  4. Word, brother. of Darkness?
  5. I'm thinking about mowing the lawn today. Yay.
  6. I have a lot of issues with the Obama administration, but attempting to show a sign of respect by bowing to the Japanese Emperor isn't anywhere near making the list.
  7. Is this really a big deal to you, Obyknevn? This whole Russia vs. the US thing? Why do you think that is?
  8. I'll probably wait for Pitch Black Scrabble instead.
  9. Playing ice hockey once a week is the best way to stay in shape.
  10. The interesting thing about sports game design is that they have long term and short term planning all on the same title. So you might have a team working on the next release doing minor tweaks, but you also have people working on a new iteration of a game engine that might take three years to finally implement. But each year you tend to have one big focus point for improvement. It might be a franchise mode, multiplayer, or the core gameplay controls. With such a short development, you can only do so much.
  11. ahahahaha priceless Do you play sports games? Because your comment shows a serious lack of insight on their development. Most of the EA big sport's games go through a crazy development cycle and manage to release a high quality game year in and year out. Each IP is different, but the Madden series and the NHL series implement remarkable changes over the course of 1-2 releases.

I am listening to an absolutely insane Sharks-Kings game right now.
  13. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but if you have two schools in a village and one turns out doctors and lawyers and the other gets your kid to commit suicide at 14, I'm hoping the enrollment of the extremist school will plummet. I know I'm oversimplifying, I'm just saying the most important thing here is to offer a better alternative than being a suicide bomber.
  14. I'm not sure if you can really combat extremism in schools by 'going after them' as that just tends to reinforce what the extremists are preaching. It is essentially an extremist act in itself to shut down a school that is teaching extremism. I say offering better educational alternatives is much more effective in the long run. Extremism basically takes advantage of the lack of education by filling it with misinformation. I met with a diplomat who worked in Iran a few years ago, and he said he would go to Iranian schools and the students basically believed Islam was illegal in the US. He would explain that Muslim students go to school and sit next to students of all sorts of diverse backgrounds in the US, and they would be shocked. It is a lot easier to believe the West is trying to destroy your way of life when they are shutting down your schools and rolling in with tanks and helicopters. I realize that oversimplifies a complex situation, but military action has proven fairly useless against dogma
  15. There is a reason the Taliban systematically dismantled the education system when they came to power in Afghanistan.
  16. Might and Magic 3 was my first RPG. I was strictly an adventure game kid until then.
  17. I've found the Wii really just became a novelty item extremely fast. I traded it for the Playstation Move. Which quickly became a novelty item as well
  18. Huh, I thought it was one of the better comedies I've seen. Are you normally not a fan of Will Farrel? His whole pimp affect on the ladies just had me laughing, especially the way Marky Mark reacted to it.
  19. I guess I slept right through it. Speaking of which, I got both kids down for a nap and semi-similar times, which is quite a feat.
  20. Hehehe, very true. I expect the stadium will be largely empty, especially for a weekday/noon game. But knowing my luck I'd buy the ticket sitting between 2 loud-mouthed violent idiots. Guess I could always move seats. Aren't the seats also like $5 each? Speaking of which, I need to figure out when I'm going to a Giants game this year. I'm thinking July/August.
  21. I played a bit of Mafia II. It is fantastic, great look and great atmosphere, but I seem to be getting a bit nauseous playing it. I hate when that happens, I've had a few fps games where it's a problem too.
  22. I haven't heard too many people saying DS3 will bomb, is that out there somewhere? I haven't actually heard much either way about DS3, it has been a fairly muted ad campaign, but I assume it is still early.
  23. Their whole relationship with Sega seemed to be such a disaster, much more so than anything else they've done, that it is hard for me to believe that Sega wasn't a major contributor to the whole mess. I wasn't present when they developed it at Obsidian, I don't know who to blame. Plus, despite its flaws, I personally enjoyed the game quite a lot. But you can't deny it's going to be much more prominent in Obsidian's portfolio compared to SEGA's. I am willing to admit AP is a black mark, even though I enjoyed it a ton, but reputations have a lot to do with what you did most recently, and the damage of AP was almost immediately wiped out by the release of FO:NV. It was well reviewed and it sold very well. In fact, i'd say Obsidian is in their strongest position ever right now. Now if DS3 does badly, they lose all that.
  24. I am very impressed with the business model of Obsidian, they are always lining up new projects and they've gone to multiple publishers to stay active. If anything, Troika was the polar opposite. Game design, I do see the similarities. But I loved the troika stable of games after they were patched, so no problems there.
