Oddly enough I was talking about this with some fellow history teachers. We don't get the day off work anymore, but most of us find ourselves defending Columbus. The guy was by and large a product of his times, and he kickstarted the exploration of the Americas. Was he a terrible person? Probably, but that's not really why he is in the history books. He was at the helm of a major historical event. But hey, I'm also just bitter that I don't get an extra three day weekend.

My dentist has massage rollers in the backs of the chairs. But yeah, it's still a terrible experience.

If it makes you feel better, his name is at the top of the test I give on the rise and fall of the Roman Empire. Although I usually just get rubbish answers like "He moved the capital 850 miles to the east." Congrats, you can memorize fairly useless facts.

Yep, I dropped the settings down a couple notches when I typically run at full steam for everything. It doesn't even look that different.

Sorry to hear that Woldan, take care and we'll hopefully hear from you soon.

why do people on this forum hate swtor
Hurlshort replied to pvs0101's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
i played it for 6 months to see if it was worth it,it wasn't. i tried nearly every storyline, the Sith Warrior was the only one that i liked a bit and finished to level 50.after that,i abandoned TOR the JK story is an injustice to Revan so i will never start it. but there's too much crap between, the levelling is slow and it's a grindfest,i got bored pretty quickly the companions are boring and shallow lack of innovation is what this game suffers the most from there aren't many things to do and many are grinding mobs, immersion is broken easily it's a terrible game aside from the ****ty treatment of both KOTORs,of course agree on story classes, though,it's the only thing that actually TOR didn't screw up It took you six months to realize you didn't like the game? You got all the way to level 50? Oddly enough, I agree with most of your complaints, and I probably played about as long as you did (although I rarely played past the first act with most of the classes.) But the game did keep my attention for a decent amount of time and so I think it's weird to bag on it. I enjoyed it for what it was. -
I am sitting in a boring class on iPads, but I need the credits and it is giving me a chance to experiment and learn how to use this stupid tablet on my own. They gave us like an hour to create a 10 second video, I made mine in about a minute and spent the rest of my time creating a vacation book.

Hm, thats news to me, what makes you think that they're drugged up? Would explain a lot though. That was certainly the case with many of the Taliban fighters.

It's always weird when I hear people attack academics, as if having an education is some sort of terrible character flaw.

You may not believe you're a Democrat, but when was the last time you actually voted for a Republican for a nationwide office? And for your information, I do read different sources, you're the one with a phobia for conservatives. I evaluate everything objectively and am well aware of biases on either side. Trust me, I check out every link I post to the best of my ability. The last election. I have no interest in voting for Diane Feinstein. I vote for who I believe to be the best candidate for the job. I also tend to vote against anyone who has held an office for too many terms. Lifetime politicians suck. I don't have a phobia for conservatives (in fact I love conservative talk radio, it's hilarious) but it is largely the only stuff you post, so excuse me if I assume that is where you get your news.

90% of mainstream journalists are democrats? Please, you probably think I'm a democrat. You put entirely too much faith in right wing media. Personally I don't put all my eggs in any single basket, I like to read as many news sources as possible and develop my own opinions.

Not at all. It would be a case of incompetence; not murder. Failing to save some one is not murder. If you have the ability to save someone an intentionally choose not to, than yes it is murder. Btw, the deputy who was hospitalized yesterday was tested and is OK. Under that line of thinking, we should be sending all resources available to Africa in order to help people, given our advanced treatment capabilities.
-
Do you read any mainstream news outlets? Do you understand that the ones you keep sighting have a very specific agenda?

Well, I am a southpaw, but I injured my left hand a few weeks ago playing hockey and it's super weak. The doctor seemed unconcerned, just said I'm getting old and need to rehab it.

I don't hate TOR, and given the longstanding TOR thread in the general gaming forum, there are a number who enjoy it enough to play. It's not a great MMO unfortunately, but it does a good job building on the universe. Honestly story is the only thing it has going for it. -
Way to kill the thread This is basically no man's land.

Does anyone actually use Dell products? From what I can tell the general consensus is that they are pieces of ****. Dell owns Alienware, actually. But I would imagine it just depends on what you buy from them.
-
ToR is definitely canon, and it's very well developed. Of course it has its hits and misses like everything Bioware, but the lore is really one of the most redeeming qualities of the game.
-
These are business decisions. They can parcel the game out any way they want, it's their product. Our strength as consumers lies in not buying them, and clearly there is a large enough customer base to justify selling parts separately. We can argue the ethics behind this, but honestly unless the game is unplayable without the DLC, that's a very tricky argument.

Woohoo, Vogey pitched beautifully. Giants versus Cards - It should be an interesting one, both of these teams know how to get to the Series. -
It is not relatively easy to shut down all traffic coming from Africa, which seems to be your solution. That's a drastic measure, and right now the situation does not warrant it. We haven't had a single person infected on our own soil.

It's certainly worrisome, but doesn't seem to have anywhere near the mortality rate of Ebola, seems to be more like the flu. It's troubling that you would say that, because no one in the US has died of Ebola, whereas a child my son's age just passed away from Enterovirus after showing very few signs of illness. That sounds like a much bigger threat to the US. Now I understand that internationally, or rather in underdeveloped nations, Ebola is a much bigger threat. But the reaction by certain media outlets has been ridiculous and frankly irresponsible. http://thecolbertreport.cc.com/videos/ayvbym/a-rare-correction---no-ebola-outbreak-in-the-u-s-

Must be all the video and music. You've got to figure that's about the cap for the future. Unless Blu-Ray capacity is going to change.

Huh, that pretty much removes any motivation I would have to pre-order again. It's not like they will run out of copies like they do in a physical store, and the bonus for pre-ordering is never really that good.

The people Thomas Eric Duncan came in close contact with still haven't developed any signs of infection.
