  1. This is probably a better link for the Kaiser study, gets into the details of people who struggle with medical bills: http://kff.org/report-section/the-burden-of-medical-debt-section-1-who-has-medical-bill-problems-and-what-are-the-contributing-factors/ I'm part of this group, by the way. Every year someone in our family has had something unexpected that has cost us a few thousand dollars in medical bills. It's always a strain. It doesn't bankrupt us, but makes it difficult to set anything aside.
  2. Ah, looks like the ACA ended yearly and lifetime limits on coverage, that is good news. Still, that 10K is nothing to shake a stick at, and that does not include deductibles, which continue to rise. My cap is actually much lower, at 1k a year. But that is for each individual in the family, so we've met to cap for my wife but we could still hit it for other family members. Of course that is on top of the monthly $700 I pay and the few thousand my employer kicks in. Also prescriptions and dental seem to be on different plans. Here is some data that Kaiser put together: http://kff.org/health-costs/report/the-burden-of-medical-debt-results-from-the-kaiser-family-foundationnew-york-times-medical-bills-survey/
  3. This is completely false. The vast majority of health insurance covers a percentage, and it has a yearly cap. If you end up in the hospital for a month you will literally be drowning in debt.
  4. Edit: You know, probably just a waste of breath. Living in a different world, I suppose. Edit 2, where I decide to waste breathe. I'm not fine with this: http://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2017/04/20/524774195/what-country-spends-the-most-and-least-on-health-care-per-person No one in the US should be "fine" with the costs of healthcare. We are all one emergency away from catastrophic medical bills that can bankrupt all but the richest of us.
  5. It spends the entire movie making fun of the Marvel universe, so maybe you just didn't get the humor. It's more parody than super hero movie.
  6. I'm pretty sure I've never heard anyone complain that Deadpool was too heavy on the romance. That's an odd one.
  7. He was still serving a life sentence despite the recent trial win. It is doubtful he was going to see the light of day anytime soon given the litany of charges. I do wonder if they will be able to do a CTE scan and whether they will connect some of his behavior back to concussions.
  8. That's, kind of the point though, isn't it? Any 'news' source that wastes time reporting on non-events like this isn't really worth paying attention to. It's the same thing as those 'news' sources that pop up with stories about a President not saluting someone or not putting his hand over his heart during the pledge. These stories are just designed as clickbait for people that want to believe the President is some sort of cartoon villain. There are a few things any reasonable person can take for granted about every one of the Presidents that has ever served in office. They are working tremendous hours for the betterment of the United States. You can disagree with their policies and question the outcomes of their decisions, but it is good to always remember the incredible pressure and responsibility that comes with the office. It is the most difficult job in the country.
  9. Ditch the alcohol? Doesn't sound like me.
  10. Yeah, they've made it easier to both permanently get rid of games from your list and avoid auto-updates, as well as polling back to previous versions. Steam does seem to pay attention to its users, at least. They've also made it a bit easier to get rid of all the shovelware titles on the main page.
  11. For scientists, they sure seem to be destroying a lot of stuff instead of researching.
  12. Heh, so Alex Jones is a performance artist. Not exactly surprising, but funny to hear it from his own lawyer. Sadly I doubt this will affect any of the loons that buy into his shtick.
  13. I like those Steam sales, although they aren't as crazy as they used to be.
  14. There does seem to be a bit of an overload of depressing art in the thread.
  15. I'm still expecting some kind of explanation about why these new/modern games are vomit worthy for SonicMage. I mean is it just the genre in general? edit: Ha, he posted a better explanation right before I asked. Although I still don't get the Xcom 2 complaint. I used to load up the originals every year, and I haven't had to since Firaxis rebooted the franchise.
  16. Fallout 3 was fine for me, but Fallout 4 made me sad. Although I think it was the fact that Fallout 3 came out after a long drought, and led to FO:NV, where Fallout 4 ditched all the character development options of the universe and paled in comparison to NV.
  17. I'm not sure why Xcom 2 and Final Fantasy XV are on your list, those were two of my favorites recently. Final Fantasy XV is pretty quirky but pretty much nails the whole vibe of the previous versions, and Xcom 2 is the best turn base tactical game to come out since Jagged Alliance 2. Most of these new shooters do nothing for me.
  18. I'm assuming Hurlshot the Force Psyker met an untimely end.
  19. We took a much needed week off, but we are back on track with Episode 23: A Mermaid's Tale.
  20. That's not entirely true, you don't need to go with a jury. Also about 95% of cases don't even go to trial, so the odds are good this will be settled.
  21. I've decided to make a baseball field in my backyard. Still has a lot of work left to go, but I dug out 30 ft. basepaths.
