Random video game news... Games are Randomly News Worthy
Hurlshort replied to Lexx's topic in Computer and Console
I enjoyed the Starfield lore. It was rough, but I saw some good potential for storytelling. I played Arena and Daggerfall when they came out, and it's not like they were well developed either. It was very generic fantasy from the beginning. Further titles helped focus it (Morrowind, Redguard, and Skyrim being some high points.) Starfield is pretty generic space fantasy too, but I'd like to see them continue to develop it. Ship building also has the potential to be way cooler. There aren't a lot of games that really give you that freedom while also delivering a decent narrative experience. Anyways, I see Starfield as a good first step, but they still have work to do to make it an epic IP. -

As I said, I am just going to build up Sanctuary and wander around. No need to enter the ballpark. Maybe I'll go in once to get Valentine. -

I don't know about 3 minutes, but right now I'm just exploring the map, so it's rare that I have to transition to a new place. It does take awhile when I do transition, but it's probably about 20 seconds. -

I gave up on Fallout 3 super quick, so I decided to load up Fallout 4 and give it a try. I hadn't played it in like 6 years, I guess. It does look way better than FO3. There is color, and the HD texture pack is new to me, I think. So it's more fun to just walk around the wasteland. I never really go into the building a base stuff when I played it back in the day, so I think I'll just hang out in Sanctuary for awhile and see if I can make it look decent. I put up functioning lamp posts, and it does add a nice vibe to the place. -
Is that the Assassin's Creed where you stab your son to death in the first hour or so? Man, I hated that one based solely on that. Ubisoft is like, "let's force people to stab their sons and then deal with the trauma of that by stabbing a bunch of other people." Great storytelling.

Babylon Bee does tend to try and bludgeon you to death with their satire. It lacks any of the self awareness and subtlety that you tend to see with The Onion. -

I've been trying to get into Fallout 3, but it's not going well. It's weird because I can play F:NV pretty much every year, but Fallout 3 is just a big dud for me. I played it at release and finished it, but I've never been able to give it another go. I hear the expansions are decent too, but I can't even get myself far enough along in the main story to give those a try. I don't know, it's just a very grey cement world filled with very dull people. Ah well, maybe I'll play Fallout 2 instead. It's been a couple years, I think. -

I assume it is getting views, so critical reception might not be as important. I'm also not sure that it is expensive to make. It looks fancy, but it is also super CGI'd, so maybe it is basically already sunk costs. I mean is it any worse than a lot of the stuff that is on the sci-fi network? Is it any more expensive? It's just a shame because Cowboy Bepop was a lot more fun, and it feels like that got cut super short, but Zach Snyder gets a ton of rope with his mess of a project. -
Man, that is a huge group. Your food bill has got to be out of control. I usually try to only have enough mercs to cover the professions. On previous playthroughs, I had a nice pack of wolves, but this time I don't have an archer with the ability to control them, so I haven't bothered. I do have 5 ponies and a ton of gear though.

Aw, still playing as Henry in the sequel? I mean, he's fine for a total lunkhead. Theresa was my favorite character. Her DLC was fantastic. -

Yeah, that's my take as well. Sure, it means you don't own the game, but I've always said that is a bit overrated. There are very few games worth owning, and you can probably just wait until they are on deep discount most of the time. For example, I played Outer Worlds on Xbox Gamepass, then I bought the spacers choice edition on Steams when it was on sale, and then I got it free on Epic. So I'm pretty well covered any time I want to play it again. The special editions are ridiculously overpriced, but hardly predatory. Some people have money to burn. -

I mean, I still think Star Destroyers are cool looking, if that is what you mean. I figure I'm one of the resident SW fans here, even though I haven't gotten around to watching Ahsoka, or most of the animated stuff, or played any recent SW games. But I typically enjoy stuff when I see it. There was some neat nostalgia stuff in the last season of Mandalorian, and that is the last thing I watched, so I guess I can still get it up for the old bird if I need too. This game looks fun to me, in the same way most Ubisoft games are fun for 20 hours or so. I'll probably pick it up on sale. -

I'd say your mileage may vary. Harry Potter books and movies were incredibly popular with adults as well as children, so the short answer would be yes. It certainly isn't PAW Patrol. -
What kind of mod did you install? I've never seen that, but I don't capture many prisoners.

I took the family to see Dune part 2 in the theaters. It was pretty good. We just re-watched part 1 last weekend, so it was fresh in our minds. I preferred part 1, since it is a relatively simple story. Part 2 definitely gets a bit bogged down in the complexities, particularly at the end. But hey, I was raised on the Lynch version and never read the books, so what do I know? Basically I missed Sting hamming it up at the end. -

I can second Outward being an amazing immersive game. I was hooked on that world for months.
