Eder Tangent

Oh alright. Must have been a bug on my part then. I solved the quest well and saved Bearn, but never got a follow-up conversation. -

From the conversation he says its not love. I always considered him as just sticking to the past a lot, living in the memories and what ifs, which is I think a normal human feeling actually. When the world around you is going insane, turning upside down, its normal to seek solace in something familiar. What scares me is how many people are after Bearn's blood now. The poor innocent kid Thats said, I am surprised there was no conversation after Eder's quest. Every other companion has a post-quest discussion on what happened and how they feel, even if it doesn't affect their end-game state (i.e. Pallegina), and Eder doesn't. I wonder if its intentional or an oversight. -
Favourite side quests?

Aside from the already mentioned I also loved Bekarna's folly, because you get to talk and kill Concehaut once again and take his skull as a pet. -
Then you'd be giving Serafen this broom, I doubt he would appreciate it though. That said I gave broom to Tekehu for a while, seemed fitting. Yeah but you can assume they needed an excuse for the Watcher to get out of their culture - things got bad so they had to leave. Doesn't mean you shouldn't come back. I am just saying this was left intentionally open. Home could be anything you would make it to be. Perhaps. The decision to bring back Eder/Aloth/Pallegina was taken on the basis of what made sense. But I think anything would make sense if you think it through enough and write it well. So any companions could be brought back if the writers decided to develop their stories further. I am just voting for these three because they already were in the second game, so I'd love to see them in the third as well. Its always better to continue long-lasting relationships rather than introduce new ones. Part of what made Mass Effect so great (in my humble opinion) were relationships that span 3 games. Nothing was better than getting your ME1 squad back in ME3, it made the game more impactful, and it really did feel like you were reunited with your friends. I'd also vote against sidekicks unless they made them full companions. But I am very biased. I would prefer less companions but more development for them - conversations, interjections, banters, quests, rather than a whole cast of useless paperdolls.

To be honest I just took it as a placehoder, left intentionally open to say "Watcher's journey continues", without making any restrictions and having to justify that later in the next game. For all we know "home" can be your culture - Aedyr, White that Wends, Ixamitl, even Deadfire could fit. PS: Dyrwood does have those giant pillars of Adra that were never used from what I remember. So with teleportation who knows... I don't think Dyrwood will be a major aread in the future, since we've already been there and there is nothing to explore. I'd assume it will be some new area. PPS: If you talk to Sagani in POE1 she says Naasitaq is a large island in Deadfire Acrchipelago, close to White that Wends. Since one of the DLCs deals with Rymrgand, and technically White that Wends is his realm, do you think we might see one of those places? I'd have loved to visit either, even as a DLC. On the other hand it would slightly mirror White March with the snow/ice areas, so idk how feasible it is.

I understood that the situation with Tikiwara was basically RDC vs Vailians. Either VTC establishes their trade post there and helps the village survive, or RDC completely takes over, and THAT will be taking over the land. RDC basically conquers and subjugates, plus they employ assasination tactics to break the spirit of people instead of growth for everyne. Trading post doesn't give out territory, its just that - a trading post, the land in question still belongs to the Huana, unless there is a property contract in question (which we saw in another quest). VTC doesn't just come and take the land. The Trading Post does create some sort of dependency true, but usually these kinds of things are beneficial for everyone. Huana can buy food from trade and in return sell something else they can get/produce on the island, for example the... carpets? I don't remember what they were producing there. Or work in aiding vailians mine adra. The fact remains a fact - there is shortage of food on the island, and it would not survive without outside help. As for cultivating the fruit. Cultivating one fruit will not help in the larger scale and will not feed the entire village because the soil is not good enough. You can get that information from talking to villagers and to the ranga. So that little quest basically helps no-one. The only way the village can prosper is through trade, or if Onekaza decides to send more supplies on a regular basis there, but she doesn't have resources.

This. Maia will stay on the ship, and I am going to sabotage RDC as much as I can. At least Pallegina is honest about Vailians. But also I found it strange that the only two options in a later dialogue were to either "not talk about it" or discuss how to better do her job. Unless I am missing something. You can't outright tell her this is wrong, what RDC is doing is wrong. You can either not talk about it at all or support RDC and advise on how to better break the Huana for conquest. No thats not it. He is not giving territory, he is only inviting Vailian cooperation to establish a trading post and to help their settlement because he is no longer adhering to tradition. The one who wants to stick to tradition in the Priest lady, and RDC are the ones who take land from Huana. Vailians are actually less invasive, they work in cooperation, not through submission. Thing is Tikawara can't survive without trading post because of how scarce the natural resources are. Kokti grows badly there and from what I remember there are troubles with the fish as well. An alliance with VTC is that of necessity and survival, not because the chieftain is stupid.

But they do. You are only alive because of Berath. That chime she put in your chest? That is what keeping the Watcher alive. Not going after Eothas means the Watcher will die, as shown in that first conversation where you have the option to return to the Wheel. Berath reminds you about it later in the game too. Granted there is no option to tell them eff off so she would kill the Watcher in later stages. But I kinda view it ais the gods got too worried about Eothas so they can't lose their only agent. I've said it in couple of other threads but the only thing to bring more urgency to the quest would be to make it a timed quest, as in for example if you lag too behind Eothas you will suffer personal penalties, or again someone will die (like your village back in Fallout if you don't bring the water chip in time). But people don't like restrictions, timed quests, or other mechanics that make them suffer more than necessary. The first pillars had illusion of urgency because the map opened up as you progressed the story, the only difference here is that the entire map is open to you from the start.

No of course not. But we are talking about a game here not real life, and companion relationships aren't the most important part of the game, hence simplification. Honestly I am okay with the system. I miss the time when I don't have to worry about what I pick in conversation unless I want to murder someone, but if this type of disposition is what requires me to have more conversations/romances/flirts/etc., I am good with that. At least its not DAI where the options are so not transparent that your character comes of as borderline psychotic. Actually, its the opposite with Aloth. If the romance was only available at positive disposition, then yeah, it would have been behavior gated. But since its open for both pro- and rivalmance, its not. I think with others it is though, Xoti and Tekehu probably are behavior gated (but its not difficult to get approval with them), Maia idk.
-
Its actually not that difficult once you figure out what he likes. The difficulty is seeing how your responses affect companion approval in numerical terms. Because disposition is only 1, 2, or -1, -2, you can't see how much points you gain or lose that constitute into those 1 and 2. I had to go with the console to see how he is affected, and its actually not bad. There are some weird instances of gained/lost disposition, but its very doable to get his approval to 2 early in game by doing specific quests and talking to specific people. Also you don't have to play a stoic character with zero sense of humor. You can joke around and be a buffoon and he would be okay with it. Just need to avoid irresponsible jokes.
-
Yeah that sounds like you're stuck with the fish. Tekehu and Maia are both locked in their first conversations, Aloth in his second conversation, and Xoti is gated by her quest. I def know there is a point where she outright says she has feelings for the watcher (if you are not with anyone at that point), and there you can either tell her off or agree. If you are in romance with someone else she still acts in a flirty way, i.e. blows kisses, makes suggestions, but its just that - empty talk. I think its just her character, as the OP posted - a feature. Nah, they are friends in that epilogue. I got it too. When you start reading it seems like you pushed them into relationship, but actually it says they became good friends. Eder literally gets no love in this game, the poor guy. What I don't understand is why that epilogue was necessary in the first place, because other companions didn't get their relationships between each other. For example Tekehu/Pallegina conflict, or Maia/Pallegina. Xoti is the only one that gets two additional epilogues with other companions - friendship with Eder and relationship with Maia. I am kind of getting Liara/Leliana vibes here. If you are going to do something special for one character, do it for all others as well, or don't do at all. Its only fair.
-
I have a solution for that. Don't progress her quest in the Sacred Stair until you are locked in the romance with someone else. That way you shouldn't get weird epilogue. That is unless you are romancing Modwyr, then you're ninjamanced. As for her lewd remarks, she still says them (sleeping well when Watcher's around) even if you are in romance with others. I just assumed it was her being her socially awkward self. You should be fine OP.

Sorry pal, its the Jorah Mormont effect once again I'd rather they avoided Teh Maker, more like maybe a hidden god working against others or something. I would not mind if we have to fight against Rymrgand though, he is interesting. Should be more interesting if you are playing a Pale Elf, since technically Pale elves belong to him. I had the same problem with Modwyr btw. I found her too late and then found her owner, so it was quick.
