  1. Hrm. They're all really good, Big Fat Kill isn't the best by any means. I personally would give that to The Hard Goodbye or Hell and Back, but fans generally argue The Hard Goodbye or That Yellow Bastard as the best. The Hard Goodbye is the first book, and just damn cool. It is the one with the story about Marv featured in the movie, and...well, Marv's a badass. Has some of the best writing of the books IMO too. A Dame to Kill For is the second, and tells the first part of Dwight's story (how he got is new face, his past affiliations with Gail) but does not have nearly enough Miho in it, does have some Marv in it though, and gets points for that. The Big Fat Kill is the third book, and as you should know having seen the movie, is the one that featured the second of Dwight's stories in them, it gets points for having Deadly Little Miho in it, was also featured in the movie. That Yellow Bastard is of course the third story in the movie and the fourth book, good overall book, but not my favorite. Family Ties is the fifth, has a lot of Miho in it, and is the cheapest of the books, so is a must have as far as I am concerned. It also has lesbians. Booze, Broads and Bullets is the sixth title, and is a collection of short stories that makes a good introduction to the characters to a newbie to the world, or good filler/collection piece for a fan. Hell and Back is the most expensive title, and one of two that I don't have (along with That Yellow Bastard) I have however read all of them thanks to Borders 'read it before you buy it as long as you stay in the store with it' policy. Hell and Back has some really pretty full color pieces in the middle of it, while Wallace is trippin' out on what is (I'm guessing) PCP or some other hallucinigen, as well as being the most 'evolved' of Miller's art in general (as it's the last). It also has one of two 'good' guys in it. One who is arguably more honorable than Harddigan. There is also a major conspiracy theory in it which is fun, and the main character is an ex-Navy Seal war hero ninja! Also, if you collect them all, it makes a picture on the bindings when you set them on your bookshelf!
  2. Exactly, Sin City has the short stories printed in the Dark Horse variety comic back in the day, collected in the seven graphic novels, and that's it. No need to recycle or reflesh concepts. Plus the writing and art in them is so good you can just read them over and over again. I understand the reasoning behind reading them, but having not gotten into them at an early age (aside from the toon on Fox) I don't think I have that nostalgic air that's neccessary.
  3. I like The Boxer better, but both are awesome. Scarborough Fair is more interesting on a pure intellectual level, what with the mixing of two different folk songs, and the meanings of the songs in the culture they came from.
  4. Why don't dev houses just use developer voices? I'm just acting, it seems feasible. I'd give you that....if games when Fallout came out all had voice acting. Fallout 1 voiced Tandi, and upon meeting her father or her you would not have known she was an important character (Fallout 1, not Fallout 2). It's a moot discussion anyways, as we don't know what BIS/Interplay would have done if they could have afforded the voice all the lines. Sin City's is artistic because all movies are in colour now. How many would have lauded it's artistic sense if it was going up beside the very first movies that had full colour and the wow factor of the full colour? Wizard of Oz milked this like crazy, starting the movie in black and white, and then going BAM, look at all the beautiful colours. Fallout's voice acting was cool, but imagine your reaction if every line in the game was spoken. To say that you wouldn't care is bogus based on hindsight IMO. Furthermore, since you like to state that developers give secondary characters voices so that you can hear what they sound like, then Baldur's Gate has the same thing. When you initiate conversation with every character they make some sort of audible noise...it's just that their lines of dialogue aren't spoken. You still know what they sound like. But imagine how alive the world would be if every person was voiced in quality.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ugh! Know your history. Color movie tech came out mid-production for Wizard of Oz. Rather than scrap all the production costs up until then, they found a way to make it fit in with the story. ("Kansas is oh so dull and boring, so let's make it black and white!") Was not for the artistic purpose, but rather for the financial and business purpose.
  5. Nah, I'm not even sure there is such a thing, but I don't doubt for one second there is what with the blossom porns, and the yaois, and the scat fetishists, and the other wacky things the internets has brought us.
  6. Well, the Marvel comics are generally better at suspension of disbelief than most DC titles, but for me, it's even easier for me to suspend my disbelief to think that a badass like Marv had to be shocked by the Electric Chair more than one time to kill him. Not that I don't like Xmen, I loved the movies, and as a tot, and even now, I follow what TV series there are religiously, it's just comic books are so 'spensive. Also, you are really lucky to live down where you are and not up here, you gots a Borders. I have to drive down there for stuff gotten at Borders or Barnes and Nobleses. We do have a really kickass used bookstore that wouldn't be able to survive in the big business climate of Roseville/Sactown/whatevers.
  7. I had a friend who complained about there being too much text and not enough action in the Zelda games for him to play them. This is entirely serious.
  8. Comic books are too expensive for me to spend monies on the likes of Xmen. I tend to find the nature of stories told in franchises that have to go on and on in franchises frustrating because A. If you don't know minor detail 'X' in obscure issue number eleventy two, you don't understand plot point in issue hojillion and one. B. Because the franchises have to keep up coming with more and more stories, over the course of years, with the same characters, they start getting more and more absurd, with OMG I THOUGHT HE WAS DEAD moments abounding. I like Sin City and Hellboy better, after those franchises I may or may not find more titles worth my monies.
  9. Not to live birth fetishists it's not!
  10. Unless one of the my people from my tech support business call me when they haven't in over two weeks I'll definitely be there. Actually, I kind of hope they do considering $35 an hour is better than a PnP session when you're broke. But they probably won't.
  11. Wikipedia Article If you are ever lacking for Comic Book info, check Wikipedia.
  12. The yellow snow is lemon flavored. This has been a tried and true piece of parental trauma for years, and while not original (the best trauma is unique) works; don't knock it. Traumetizing kids is a national sport among parents. As for advice not practitioned by my father: We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.

  14. You will, once they start imposing conservative moral beliefs and right wing propaganda into every article and review they publish. Have you ever watched Fox News? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah! Look at Family Guy! It used to be awesome now it's a pinnacle of Christian values and decency!!! If anything, maybe IGN's reviews will get better.
  15. If Colossus is in, and Wolverine is in... ...is the Fastball Special in?
  16. If I order off of Amazon's UK site would I be getting the Euro version?
  17. What does this have to do with buying golds?
  18. Not being one to take someone else's word for something, I have to see if I still get that wacky SQL error. Here we go!
  19. Susan!? Dear Man the thing is Male as exhibited by its power... only the Gamecube can be referred to as female... because it's small, and a box.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Shut your mouth. Shut your damn mouth!
  20. Also, in some comic or other it was shown that their powers cancel each other out. But let's talk about the real issue here. They made Colossus gay. :'( WTF!
