Hmm. Briefing, cutscenes, and a story told from three different perspectives. The storytelling was much better than in HL2, if you ask me. But I'm a AVP fanboy... meh. Oh yes, and the netcode sucked, big time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The storytelling really was better. I loved the fact that it was the same story, but from the eyes of three different races. That was awesome. The Alien was quite possibly the most original FPS character ever too.

Dun be hatin'. Besides, this thread was worthless and was going to be locked by The Green Machine eventually anyway. I mean, what kind of n00b3r makes their own thread and says "Hi I'm [X Name]."

The one in the steam room with the pumps and stuff where you have to smash the panels? Yeah, that was kinda hard, it was like a maze, there was this little duct though... I liked the multiplayer in AvP2, that was so fun.

Um, that depends on whether you like seeing nubile women covered in...uh...man-goo. It never did much for me personally.

When Baloo died in Jungle Book (the more accurate, live action version). The funeral scene in Finding Neverland (didn't help we saw this a week or two after my mum died). When no one would leave Edward alone and he eventually had to kill in Edward Scissorhands. The ending to Sin City I <3 Johnny Depp in a totally platonic way. <edit> I forgot this one in my initial list. That was truly sad. And if TV shows count, at the end of Cowboy Bebop, in the second to last episode of Ghost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex. </edit>

Correction: if the company is dead then so is its continued support. Support made prior to its demise is still support, nonetheless. And, as before, deciding to buy a game of a company which has ended its activities, or has stopped supporting it even if it has not ceased activities, is entirely up to the player. For the most part, old and adequate (if not optimal) support still exists. For someone trying to erase the Visceris alter ego from our collective experience, that's a pretty standard Viscerisation you've made. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, but he smiled when he said it! Harvey is the new Vicseris, pessimism and cynism with a smile!

^The ultimate sign you're a true internet geek. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Or his girlfriend is. I thought I was far gone, at least my idea of a night out is still dinner and a movie. Now if I could just work my nerve up to talk to more girls that were...available. -
UK: Buying RPGs Online - Advice Needed!!!!!
Child of Flame replied to roshan's topic in Way Off-Topic
Probably an added $10 or so on the order. There should be some sort of options to calculate shipping costs before you actually put your Credit Card number in if you go to Checkout. I recently netted Planescape Torment and the Fallouts from there for around $12 total (with shipping). Of course, I'm in the US. Keep in mind that the Fallouts and Planescape Torment they're selling there are the dual jewel editions, and therefore only come with .pdf manuals. That doesn't bother me, but I know some people like having the actual manual. *cough*Volourn*cough* -
Yes, because depending on payment method, Troika gets no money after the final payouts. Activision however continues to get monies from sales. Therefore you are stealing out of the coinpurses of the hardworking Activision employees! <edit> DAMMIT BALEY! GO TO SCHOOL! </edit>

Oddworld Creator says Goodbye to Games
Child of Flame replied to Child of Flame's topic in Computer and Console
The first two Oddworld games had quite good PC ports. Microsoft wouldn't let that happen on their console though. -

4. Geez. I HATE those, and I'm a follower of the same religion. -
There's been 512 Meg Graphics Cards on the market for awhile now. However they weren't geared for gaming, but for rendering, not sure where this one's going... <edit> That's a better price tag than I've ever seen on a 512 Meg card though. </edit>

I always figured they were trying to show the frantic nature of battle. It works on the level a lot of the time you don't know what the hell's going on (like battle) but it doesn't work on the level you don't have ANY IDEA of what the hell's going on, not a good thing for a movie. DemonKing's examples are really good ways to show the same thing, in a way that works better for screen.

I've got a Coolermaster Aero V+ on my 2500 Athlon. Between it, and the fans bringing air directly from the outside of the case to the intake on the CPU fan, the CPU generally stays around room temperature at stock speeds. I have to say I'm impressed.

hahahaha that was funny. The creationist argument is a mess anyhow. Instead of being a religious vs science issue, it's become a sectarian battle zone. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It made me laugh too. (Assuming that wasn't another of those 'sarcasm over the internet strikes again' moments. ) Ditto on the argument being a mess. I almost wish I could go back to my old private school and ask that they start teaching evolution in their Bible classes, you know, since creationism is just one way the universe could have came into existence even by their own text, thereby rendering it 'just a theory'. -

Basic realities? Well, what Rosbjerg was talking about, has always struck me as a load of pseudo-intellectual B.S., and one that's been highly over-used since the Matrix movies came out. I figure the only reality there's any proof of, is the one I'm standing in right now. That you, I, and everyone on this board shares. It should also be pointed out, that using the argument Rosbjerg was toting, any schizophrenic's hallucinations are real. -

I think the most common thread in religions is a theme of non-violence, and tolerance of others. As I've already said though, when organized religion comes into the mix, agendas shortly follow. -

The irony here is that most of you use scientific theories as arguments .. but I seriously doubt that you have studied, calculated and pondered deeply over these theories yourself! so how come a devout Christian/Muslim has to put his belief in the context of science, when you accept the latter's words, and just as gullible, as the religious accept the scriptures? now you may argue that new theories arise, and you read up on those, while religion is stagnant .. but it's still the same pattern, you accept it without doing research yourself .. trusting the words of others, simply because they seem to know what they are talking about .. how is this any different, fundamentally, from devoted religious people?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If this was directed at me, you made a bad call. I'm religious. I'm a Christian, and I'm constantly studying scripture in an effort to understand myself, and the world better. I've examined enough to think to my own beliefs that what is recorded in the Old and New Testaments is true...however I can also play devil's advocate, and admit, that there is a chance (insignificant in my mind) that it's all a sham. By 'all' I mean what the religion is based on, not organized religion. Organized religion, to a large extent, is indeed a sham. Rife with church politics. Not just Catholics either, one Protestant church I went to, the new Senior Pastor molested one of the [underage] girls in the youth group who's family he was counseling, the whole thing was never brought to trial, instead, a settlement was paid, and despite everyone's claims that it was reported to the authorities, he's not listed in any of the sex offender lists I've managed to dredge up, all in the name of 'saving face' and 'not tarnishing the face of Christianity'. Then there's the constant agendas, taking verses out of context to support the cause of the day. Entire thing pisses me off. Christianity started off well enough, Jesus was the man who's affected history most throughout the ages regardless of whether or not you believe in his divinity. Sometimes I feel kinda sorry for him, what with all the dolts that claim him as their God these days. -

They are. <struggles to remember it> It's hardcore Sci-Fi, rather similar to Unreal, but only with the weapons systems and junk. Someone will dig up a link I'm sure. Personally I'm really looking forward to Advent Rising at the moment. It's set to release end of this month, and it's the beginning of a mythic sci-fi trilogy, written by Orson Scott Card. <edit> Just realized it's not Epic doing it, but the other people behind Unreal, Digital Extremes. The game is called Pariah, and it looks quite good. Takes place on Earth in the distant future, whole place is a wasteland, possibly post-apocalyptic. Speaking of post-apocalyptic, Cryptic Studios (City of Heroes dudes) got a new MMO coming out called Auto Assault...looks like something that could be really enjoyable, though even less similar to the MMORPGs than CoH is. </edit> -

Nah, taks is a smart cookie, and though he's firmly anchored to his beliefs, he uses logic and reason to back them up better than any of you can claim to. The argument usually goes like this: Person X: Inflammatory, incorrect statement. taks: Pure unadulterated logic that grabs inflammatory statement, throttles it, shakes it around some more, and then grinds it down into non-existent particles. Person X: At a loss for words, flings insult at taks and makes themselves look bad. taks: Grumbles about insult, trudges on with logic. And now, once again, I'm off to school. -

Hey guys. taks always wins the debates and there's no point arguing with him. He's like an internet god of logic. I think a lot of 'devoutly religious' people are gullible/unintelligent, as organized religion tends to draw those sort of people. By 'devoutly religious' I don't really mean what I would consider devoutly religious, but what people who are anti-religion, anti-god, or whatever use the term for. A more apt term would be 'devoutly gullble'. People who can't think for themselves, lack confidence, and so turn to religion as a comfort blanket of sorts. Often times (to the detriment of organized religion) these people will absorb and internalize anything someone behind a pulpit says as fact. This is sad to me. Someone devoutly religious in the true sense, should examine, question, and explore what they are told. Otherwise they're just parroting what they've been told, rather than studying the context, meaning, and history behind the word. I go to church services regularly, more for companionship and friends I've made there over the years than because I really value or get anything out of them. The times I've learned and grown the most spiritually were always in small groups, Bible Studies, or just gatherings of friends. I'd often be the devil's advocate in said groups, as I'm a fairly liberal minded person in a sea of conservatives, but I usually learned something of use from them. -
Now I shall try to remember where I stole that from. I think it might have been The Daily Show. <edit> Nope, it just occured to me, it was Something Awful, one of their Awful Forum postings. </edit>
