Of course they are, why would Russia or its ally give up on a chance on holding EU balls. Also why would Rusia give up its lukrtave deal on buying Turkmenistan gas cheaply and selling it to EU at higher cost. Also I was talking about https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Stream I read something about Turkey planing on connecting with new Israel-Cyprus-Italy pipeline, which would make their plan much more lucrative. yeah, though you have to admire them not bending over to the Russian bullying.

Because Russian has been known todo that before, during its own elections and because we are familiar with Russian propaganda. Show me a Russian who will not say that FOX news is biased(which it is) though they don't realize that All Russian major mass media is Fox news in that regard. Also I don't recall you arguing against Oby crap in the other thread, most of which turned as nothing more then social media crap(and Russian propaganda crap).

more like an extreme example to make fun of your strawmen argument, but if you wish more appropriate one simply replace guns with explosives in it: "This idea that explosives are the reason people become murderers is stupid. Murder existing well before explosive existed. And, murder would exist after the last explosive vanishes. This is FACT." So explosive control is stupid? you can also add the usual legal use argument i.e. Explosives are legitimately used by demolition experts, mining, special effects guys or claim that explosive enthusiasts shouldn't be hampered by big brother telling them what todo. You can even "bolster" your argument with usual saying that you can buy that stuff illegally or even make some variants with help of internet and common products) ---- On unrelated note, China is having bad streak of disasters, yesterday an inbound Boeing 777 with 237 passengers crashed.

Indeed, the EU has long since recognized its vulnerability to energy markets crisis's and it wasn't hiding its work on solving this issue. Speaking of which, what came out of that plan to bypass Russia monopoly? iirc it was suppose to directly connect Turkmenistan to EU, through Caspian sea, South Caucuses and Black sea(I think at one point it was considered to go through Ukraine\Crimea), to avoid Russia playing a third party getting a cut and control.

Iraq? Sure, looking at Iraq in retrospect there is a lot US can be and has been criticized for. However, to keep things in context. Iraq was the state that after eight years war with one neighbor, waited two years to go to war with another, attempting to annex it. A country who had a history of use of chemical weapons against its neighbor and its own populace. Who part of its surrender agreement agreed on disarmament and almost decade later, several UN Security Council resolutions, many issues with inspection and transparency came an un popular expensive war. So on one hand we have years of provocation, international community attempts to resolve the issue and Iraqi noncompliance, which finally led to a war. On the other we have Russia taking illegal unilateral action within another sovereign state whose sovereignty and territorial integrity it suppose to assure. Based on fumes of its uncorroborated media reportage. It intervened four days(?) after what it perceived as pro-Russia government was deposed and is now on the way of installing a Pro-Russian one in Crimea.. Which is what they did in Georgia i.e. Rushed in under various pretext(which are laughable considering what they did in the Caucasus) and were nothing more then childlish retaliation for what they perceived as West move against their interests in Yugoslavia.. So sure call me a cynic or biased, but those are apple and oranges my friend. ( and certainly is an attempt to deflect by pointing the finger out and bandwagon on USA\Iraq unpopularity )

well I seen Gravity. I think that people who like Thriller watching it in 3d would really get their money worth. To me it was just average, with nice special effects and Clooney who made it bareable :/ EDIT: I don't recall when was last space opera movie that I enjoyed, books on the other hand is another thing. If you don't mind go little on a bend, here are some more recent books/series along those lines not-too-serious, character driven space opera, actiony and starttreky: * Leviathan Wakes (The Expanse series) * Into the Black (Odyssey One) They come in audiobook format as well.

More like an attempt to deflect from Russia actions with apple and oranges scenarios, but you are right some people moralizing is just BS, for example: Putin has been lobbying against foreign intervention in other state affairs - which what he does now in Ukraine. Two month ago Putin has passed a law criminalizing calls for separatism in Russia - which he now push in Crimea.

Almost closed, there is still the Sochi 2014 Paralympics. But overall it was a nice reminder that the real Olympics are two years away..

How would roboobama compare to Robocop?

Are you saying that Russian intervention in another sovereign state internal affairs (That Putin has been lobbying against, to maintain it interest e.g. weapons sales), is the same situation of USA declaring war on Afghanistan, which provided a strategic rear and base for extremist? If you start a thread about Afghanistan, I can comment on this war, USA conduct in it or in general. Though I am not sure how this apple and oranges scenario fits here other than deflect from Russian actions in Ukraine, which btw is direct continuation to what happened in Georgia.

How exactly, his defection from Ukraine, allows him to turn Ukrainian naval assets to anyone? or what right Russia has to blockade an Ukrainian ship, maned by Ukrainian sailor, in Ukrainian port? Also to give some context to this latest Russian spin, first Russian forces have blockaded the Ukrainian port and Ukrainian naval headquarter (in violation of so many things) then the admiral was accused of treason after declined orders to offer resistance to the much much larger Russian force, then he poped on Russia TV declaring his personal defection. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/mar/03/ukraine-navy-officers-defect-russian-crimea-berezovsky Speaking of spins, former Ukraine President Yanukovych, who was deposed by majority vote of the Ukrainian representative house (after running away in the middle of a national crisis, to avoid criminal charges), was granted asylum in Russia, who call him the still legitimate president, so they can pretend that their previous agreements with Ukraine are void. Including the in which they assure Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial, which they have been violating. Which they have been violating. Another case is Crimea referendum, first they take unilateral action in another sovereign state displacing the lawful public authorities of Ukraine and those local officials, then they produce call for referendum (while the building is held under control of armed men and isolated). Meanwhile pumping propaganda on their news about fascist, and whats not so they can rush this illegal action and hope that people will forget about it eventually because no one will call Russia on their BS over Ukraine.

Any idea if this involved some new trick, like the memorization trick (that everyone with "prefect" memory seem to use) or just the usual work to adapt your pattern recognition part of the brain(i know not very scientific:) ) for this?

Yeah it hard to keep with feeds, in some news they also spam tweets and comments, IMO its better wait day and read the articles(in full not only titles ) I already read that article, it is a good and pretty much reflects my position on the issue. Such conflicts tend to polarize the political map and Ukraine would have to fight uphill battle against extremist on both side for a long time, this is certainly something that would have to be addressed. However, in the context of the previous discussion, the topic was never about fixing Ukraine crisis or any positive speedy resolution within it. It was about pure propaganda arguments though demilitarization, picked from Russian reportage, intended to promote Russian self interest and their legitimacy, trampling Ukraine in the process.

We know that Ukraine is facing default, although it has been in bad shape since the rescission that hit all of Europe(and Russia). Although that economic crisis was aggravated by Russia trying to bully Ukraine into adopting pro-russian policies and away from EU. (like Belarus, they want Ukraine to become a submissive satellite state). For example Russian manipulation of gas prices and blocking Ukrainian trade in to Russia (which was its biggest export sector). The situation wasn't helped by Ukraine soviet style corruption(the former president is accused at embezzling billions). Which is why EU put road blocks on Ukraine petition to join, asking for major reforms. Although that article on RT and its rhetoric fits perfectly with what i previously referred too in the spoiler article.

Why wouldn't it? It is local news for Canada, I bet similar snipsets poped up across the globe, though I didn't see anything of the sort (including this) in the global political sections. -- Meanwhile, even though Russia claim that all those Pro-Russian forces wearing Russia's uniforms\equipment and driving their vehicles, who took hold of strategic position(including around Ukrainian military bases) with military precision are just local defense forces with no affiliation to them. But I wonder how they will explain blockading the Ukrainian port in Sevastopol, prevented Ukrainian navy from leaving? I wonder if they will claim that this too is part of their base lease program with Urkaine, or not an intervention, or just more local defense force sailing Russian ships

Analysis: Why Russia's Crimea move fails legal test "Contrary to these obligations, Russia has augmented its forces in Crimea without the consent the Ukraine. It has deployed them outside of the agreed bases, taking control over key installations, such as airports, and encircling Ukrainian units. Russia's actions have created space for the pro-Russian local authorities in Crimea to displace the lawful public authorities of Ukraine. Legally, this clearly amounts to a significant act of intervention - indeed, as Russian military units are involved, it is a case of armed intervention." It's not just Canada, NATO has suspended most(all?) exercises and joint operations with Russia and increased its presence in the region.

More like yet again demagoguery and deflection from Russia taking illegal unilateral actions and trying to justify it after the fact.

And ride around in vehicles with Russian military plates with numbers that just happen to correspond to the Black Sea Fleet and the Southern Military District in North Caucasus. Btw that doesn't mean that they are Russia military per se. They can be Russian PC, or locals equipped with local Russian stores, in either case it very unlikely that they didn't get Intel and operational plans forces or directed by their leason. In either case it is Russia violation of Ukrainian sovereignty. btw it is possible that Putin relive his KGB glory days and sees this whole thing as major retaliation/battle against the "west"(like Georgia was a retaliation for Yugoslavia), just like he sees Euromaiden protest as some kind of Westren plot... or maybe Putin felt that the Ukrainian protest against Soviet style corruption was touching too close to home and might bolster the Russian protesters and calls for reforms who in recent years challenged his 15 years position in power. Edited. I doubt that people of Ukraine feel this way..

Indeed I hope I am balancing it out some of that propaganda, deflection and various assertions, speaking of which concerning our last post do you still assert that Ukraine impeachment of its president(after he run away in the middle of national crisis) or call for early elections are unconstitutional, if so why? -- All that talk of oby, propaganda, paid commentators and seeing his contribution to "Obama Impeachment" thread, make me think of this article which might sound sound familiar to some of you who has been keeping up: p.s. For those itching to make comparisons with "west" as before, please first take a look at your Censorship by country guide. Also on that note iirc Russia recently made a move against its only independent major mass media outlet and consolidated few state run into new state controlled international news agency. so yeah..

Maybe, for me it is hard to loose track of the year\month. so when I ask about the date I usually only care about the day.. and full dates only come to play for official purpose and then 07/03/14, makes much more sense without you guys making it into who's on first routine, so i don't care who was first, just get with my damn program

Crimea vote 'will not be recognised'Ukraine's interim prime minister has warned the Crimean parliament "no-one in the civilised world" will recognise its referendum on joining Russia. --- Crimea which is an autonomous region within Ukraine -- which has a long time separatist movement, supported by Russia and made possible due to its large ethnic Russian population, it is also the location leased Russian Black fleet bases\headquarters. Crimea made a spontaneous break just after the "success" of Euromaidan protest(against corruption and Russian interventions), when Ukraine president was deposed and early election were called, the break away came two days after russia started major training exrcise on the Ukrainian/Russian border in form of Pro-Russian well equipped, armed and coordinated force(claimed to be self defense force by Russia, and Russian or Russian directed force by others). Who took Crimea Parliament, major strategic locations etc.. Crimea local Parliament which was held by these men disbanded it self, and appointed a new Pro-Russian leader and called for referendum. These moves wasn't recognized by Ukraine nor the international community. Edited.

Previous thread link Quick summary of the topic, for those of you who unfamiliar with it to get you started: Why is Ukraine in turmoil? Why Crimea is so dangerous? How the crisis unfolded - timeline summary. A nice summary of issues from US preservative on Russian rhetoric, which covers a lot of issues discussed in previous thread. For those unfaimilar with Oby post on Russian topics and or didn't put him in the ignore list: Map of the area and list of previous conflict in the region involving Russian help: Some humor:

Honestly, he never had a chance, no amount of charisma could measure with the personalty cult Chavez built over the years. (Btw you can draw an easy parallel to Russia in terms of rhetoric and personality cult, when Putin goes down the house will burn... )
