  1. Norway is fourth now .. and Denmark is fith .. and the US is number 8 ..
  2. "and homelessness is not a result of capitalism. many homeless are mentally ill, many choose to be that way. the difference is that socialst countries have the government dole, so nobody is homeless (well, not as many). and the phrase "impoverished" is a misnomer because the US "poverty line" is nearly middle class in most social-democracy countries..." now this is just a lie .. I'm sorry to say so .. but it is! Scandinavia has a much higher living standard than the US! .. and the "the US "poverty line" is nearly middle class in most social-democracy countries" is just the other way around .. being poor in Denmark is having an monthly income of about 600$ .. because that's what you get from the goverment for being unemployed (you can even get a bonus of an additional 500$ every once in a while).. and that's something every single person can apply to, as long as they are danish citizens and out of a job (and most people are part of something called an A-Class were they get more like 1000$ a month).. now are you going to tell me that the poor in US are making more than 600 dollars a month?? because I have read the reports I "know" what poor is in your country and in the UK and countries with a similar policy.. oh and what kind of nonsense is "most are mentally ill"? that's extremely arrogant to claim! and I think every human would like to be rich and have stability .. of course a selected few chooses the homeless way .. but that's is far! from the majority! that said .. this was not an attack of your system, because that's the best system for America.. but don't lie .. and talking about Health care .. he was talking about health care being free, which imo is also preferable .. yes quality will drop , but atleast everyone can get medical attention .. "even our "poor" have greater buying power than most of the average every where else..." and why is that? that is because things are cheaper in your county, because of the free market, while in a social democracy a more planned economy is required .. which in turn can create inflation that raises prices .. so it's not because your poor have more money, their money is just worth more ..
  3. oh we are extremely rich .. all the countries of Scandinavia is on the top 10 of richest countries in the world .. I think Norway is actually nr 3 .. and while I love our model .. and wish that the rest of the world would be able to implement it on themselves .. it's just not possible .. because a social democratic country needs to have almost complete control of what goes in and out of the country .. and the US is the one of the most important countries, in many areas, but especially in regards of world economy .. if they were to close their borders and apply the same levels of taxes on import as we do, well .. that would be bad!! and if every major country did it .. well .. very bad!
  4. Kaftan and Draakh .. you both need to remember that the size of our countries makes our model possible .. do you realize how insanely expensive it would be for the US to have the same standards in social security, school, and health care as in our countries? because of our small size and relative small (and generally extremely rich) population we can afford such high taxes and such expensive services.. we also apply a plan economy to control the flow of goods (as we would be flooded with cheaper goods otherwise).. which none of the bigger countries could do .. which is why all of Scandinavia and other small European countries (Netherlands/Belgium etc) have adopted the same Social democratic policy .. and that's why bigger countries like France, Germany and the US need to be a little farther to the right to afford their current (more capitalistic) system .. + The right wing(s) in our countries are/is closer to the left wing in US ..
  5. ^ when you really get down to it .. what is the big difference??
  6. well the use of words are sometimes a little geared towards a particular answer .. "It is regrettable that many personal fortunes are made by people who simply manipulate money and contribute nothing to their society." words like "manipulate" and "contribute nothing" triggers a negative respons in most people .. "Governments should penalise businesses that mislead the public." "mislead" in this context isn't very positive either .. and I'm a Economic Left/Right: -3.88 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.49 I struck the exact point of Dalai Lama .. haha there's also a graph further down .. with more leaders
  7. see now that explains how you two have so many posts! :D
  8. ahh good to see people getting along ..
  9. ah thank you .. not being from US I don't know the holiday .. we have our own variant, but that is next month!
  10. another Tim burton film? (w00t) I love his films .. I have them all on dvd .. can't wait till Halloween .. that's the 30th november right?
  11. ^ to answer some of Dakoth's statements.. if you look at Europe, we have less crime than you, and no death penalty! so we must be doing something different! my guess is "no guns" .. but that's just a personal opinion .. about the drugs, I agree completely that is a problem we will never be able to 100% eradicate! Overpopulation is a hard thing to deal with, the best idea imo would be to allocate people or motivate some kind of movement to lesser populated areas, by helping those areas develop business and thereby attract a workforce.. but to control birth will never be necessary! we have so much surplus food in Europe (and probably US?), and we could solve world hunger if we really wanted .. but there's not much to gain from it, so we don't! (not just by handing out food, but also teaching our techniques to the lesser developed countries) and about school systems, again Europe is doing better than you .. so the problem isn't the individual, it's how the problem is handled nationally! more funds (and a better general infrastructure in the system) will give better results! but then you wouldn't have so much to spend on the military budget.. and that's a problem! 12. hmm .. just found out .. what's that all about?? I was never in those forums, but can imagine that a very very large group left along with them .. tsk tsk .. bad move!
  13. hmm .. why aren't we getting it then! because I listen to evey kind of music, mainstream as well, if they make something I like of course not just for the sake of it! and all my friends are major music geeks who does nothing but find wierd unknown (and known) music .. so naturally the popular swedish, and non-mainstream swedish, should 'appear on my radar' .. but it hasn't .. maybe I should have a serious chat with who ever promotes your music here!!
  14. Sweden being the third biggest exporter of music?? huh .. you guys are known for Abba and that's pretty much it! :D (not saying Denmark does better! we only had
  15. I'll be looking forward to, from that list : KOTOR2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, Call of Cthulhu, TeamFortress2, Battlefield 2 and GTA:SA ..
  16. what?? removing the bathroom doors? why?? I can understand the "no weapons" policy .. but no bathroom doors?? that doesn't make any sense!! again I love Denmark .. they aren't allowed to block any sites!! muhahaha (well except for those 18+ ones .. but they usually don't bother .. at least I've heard .. )
  17. ^ was making a joke .. but it seems I was the one who didn't get it .. lol also looking at the communist picture .. funny to see how they make small references to Nazis .. by putting the sign on the upper arm and dressing the man in a typical gray uniform .. tsk tsk .. bad propaganda!
  18. this post most originally have been posted in the NWN2 section?? or does the original poster assume everyone on the Obsidian boards are interested in NWN? because in that case you are wrong .. I, for one, couldn't care less .. I'm here to talk about KOTOR2, but since some people aren't able to keep their mouths properly shut about spoilers, I have to reside in the "Way off topic" and "gaming and RPG" forums ..
  19. This is what I think .. without proof .. I think the majority (of EVERY gamer in the world), and not "true gamers" .. that's to different things .. but as I was saying, I believe the majority plays sports and action games .. because they are the ones that seems to get the most advertising! so the average person, who plays computers once in a while, will probably play Fifa/Madden etc and the occasional FPS that get's famous .. like Doom3 or HL2 .. but "True Gamers" are those who like games, those who play often, I believe they play most of the genres .. and play what ever they find interesting at the moment!
  20. this is a big file .. but you should try and download it! it's extremely funny .. it's an article from "Housekeeping Monthly" from May 13 1955 on how a good housewife should behave!! talk about a male dominant world .. lol and to think ..this is just 50 years ago!
  21. hmm .. Touche?
  22. yeah I thought so ..
  23. "The one who has a favorite song doesn't love music....." let me guess .. you use the phrase "everything is relative" alot?? ---- I had to sell my electric .. but I still got my acoustic .. which is a "Line-6 Variax Acoustic 700" .. it's not the most beautiful thing.. but it get's the job done ..
  24. I had never heard of "Knight of the Old Republic" when I suddenly saw it for sale .. So I thought I would try it out, had never tried a SW crpg before .. It was the biggest suprise for me, because I had never expected a very good game .. but I must say that was what I got!
