  1. The Codex is mother. The Codex is father. Trust the Codex.
  2. Just wondering. Really looking forward to it.
  3. You can ask him to speak common...and then tell him his grammar is off.
  4. You know, I haven't bothered to try selling stuff to shops where I have a high rep. That probably does make a difference.
  5. Which is sort of like buying every stack of enchanted ammunition you can find in BG2, tbh. Naw. Enchanted ammunition doesn't let your mage cast healing magic, or your fighter cast fireball, etc. Scrolls are crazy useful for cross-class versatility.
  6. I still have no idea how everybody is rolling in dough in late game. I don't buy ****** at the shops, but somehow I'm constantly poor--never had more than 12K at a stretch. Actually, now that I think about I'm pretty sure all my money goes to enchantments and scrolls.
  7. Unforunately, Nexus do not allow account creation for those who use Tor (and presumably other online privacy tools). Now that is their perogative, but it does confirm the post title as correct - mods on Nexus not being freely available. And their method of pushing premium accounts is really just as sleazy (though not illegal) as the behaviour of some "free" download sites. Not Obsidian's fault, but a plea for any modmakers out there - please provide mirrors using sites that don't require accounts. Also some of the BG2 modding forums should be willing to provide hosting. You don't need Tor to register with Nexus or to download the mod. Moot point--end of discussion. When you want to download from Nexus, turn off Tor. The software is available from Nexus and free of charge. Besides that, no self-respecting person who thinks he's a "gamer" should be without a free Nexus account--the site has hundreds if not thousands of mods for dozens of games. I've had a free Nexus account for many years and Nexus has never once "pushed" a premium account on me. Here's the thing some people have no concept of, however: putting up a server from which people can download game mods costs money--the person who does that cannot do it for free. Nexus is a great site--it utilizes dozens of servers which have to be paid for by somebody. It utilizes great software like the Nexus Mod Manager that is constantly being improved and has to be paid for--software doesn't grow on trees in the wild. So criticizing them for asking for donations is idiotic in the extreme--without those funds Nexus would not exist. You don't have to contribute (which you can do for far less than $50, btw) if you don't want to--you can still join for free and download for free. So what if they ask you to turn of Tor as a condition before you can download? If you want the mod, you'll do that gladly. The thing to remember is this: just because you have a computer and you buy a game doesn't mean that anybody owes you anything for "free." You are not entitled to anything for free simply because you exist and you want it. That's a valuable lesson that some people never learn. Honeslty the second you said "no self-respecting person who thinks he's a gamer..', I immediately decided to ignore everything you said afterwards. That line prefaces self justifying elitist bull**** 95% of the time.
  8. I'm playing on normal. Potions of endurance are a *big* help all-around. I also use scrolls a lot--it's a big help in both healing (allowing mages and ciphers to do at least a basic amount of party healing) and in general in allowing cross-class spell use.
  9. I'm like 129 hours into the game, and while I've never encountered any of the major bugs I can say that even most of the smaller bugs are fixed at this point. The biggest issue I'm currently having is the load times. They're actually the reason I haven't played the game the last couple of days; the load times are getting really, really annoying. 20+ seconds at each loading screen...
  10. I think he was made by one of the $5000 backers, though I could be wrong. Possible. To be honest I completely forgot about the "create a party" tier.
  11. Sales aren't actually what they care about. Sales are a factor in deciding what they care about; that being profits. PoE may only make a million sales, but they also may generate profits up to *twice* what it cost to make the game.
  12. Paranoia is Security Clearance VIOLET. Any further discussion will be considered treason. Please proceed directly to the nearest terminal for re-education. Thank you for your co-operation, and remember: the computer is your friend.
  13. It's the best of the D&D, by far. Of course it's worthless tripe compared to half the other PnP's out there. I have a special place in my heart for D&D, but is far from the best system...or even a particularly good one, really.
  14. This isn't DnD though. [grognard]3rd Ed was the only *REAL* D&D.[/grognard] I suspect I was playing OD&D when you were swimmin' in daddy's ballsack, son. The original AD&D was meh. 2nd Edition is a load of bulky, hard to comprehend, thematically inconsistent and mechanically inept horse****. 3rd Edition was Gods own personal gift to nerds, carried from on high to be spread around the world by Gary Gygax, the Avatar Incarnate of the RNG.
  15. I'd love to see a RIFTS video game. (Not counting that N-Gage handheld quickie of a game.) I never really liked the system Palladium uses, but I love that setting. Palladium is a strange duck. The whole "megadamage" thing is a crap mechanic, but the setting is made of equal parts crazy and awesome.
  16. This isn't DnD though. [grognard]3rd Ed was the only *REAL* D&D.[/grognard]
  17. 1.03 resolved the double-click causing the loss of passives. Whatever bug this is, it may be having the same effect but it's very definitely not the same bug.
  18. I don't know, though, I mean.. the thing with the taxes is actually strange as hell. How are you a Lord? Who named you Lord? I don't remember anything like that. Yeah, you have a Keep, a Stronghold, fair enough, but at the end of the day, I don't think *anyone* has formally recognized you in any way. It's odd as hell, really. I was fully expecting to have a quest where I had to deal with the whole problem of titles and land deeds, establishing and legitimizing my claim to Cad Nua in some way. That didn't happen.
  19. There should be a bash talent, and then the ability to modify various shields with various kinds of spikes and such in order to add specific effects--high interrupt, bleeding, etc.
  20. I like Skaens ideas on principle, but his followers carry-out is horrid. I mean, the revenge and all, yes, but forcefully sacrificing an innocent to achieve it? Nothing in his principles *forbids* that, but nothing encourages or requires it, either. That's all on them being dickheads; in fact, if I were Skaen I would seriously dislike them and think about encouraging that young girl along a "different" path.
  21. A simple matter of perspective, what's cheesiest : - 4 seconds worth of free time on a boss, including party movement time. or - people cleaning up the whole room of adds, before engaging the A.D herself ? Every single video, every single screenshot I've seen, people get there with maxed level 12 parties, enchants, potions and scrolls, cheese-clean the room, then get to aggro'ing the A.D, and resort to cheap Walls and Raw damage D.O.Ts to do the job. I'm kinda proud of my sub-level 12 hard mode encounter with the adds still alive. Using traps is apparently cheese. Killing adds before battle is apparently cheese. Using choke points is cheese. Apparently any kind of intelligent preparation of the battlefield prior to engaging the enemy is cheese.
  22. I want to call everybody who expresses things like what the OP said a troll, but I know some of them actually mean it.
