What are you playing now
Dark Souls 3. This is my third false start. I start out with a strength build because that's good in the beginning, then I get bored with only doing mele and invest in sorcery and eventually I have gimped myself being unable to do anything well. Currently a sorcerer who is also a pyromancer and uses a claymore. Yeah, it's happening again. Maybe I should just spend souls on increasing my health bar from now on. Certain moves are kinda broken though. Still can't reliably kick. I mean I can get into a grove and do 10 in a row, then I stand somewhere else and get nothing but fast attacks. They should really fix that.

Backup options.
Too late now, but that's pretty clever. Why didn't I think of that. I say laptop, but it's a windows tablet with a touch screen. There is no option to enter the bios during boot. Not that I have been able to discover. Delete, F keys, nothing breaks the boot sequence. It's like the keyboard doesn't initialise before you get to the log on screen. Maybe it's because I have to use a USB C to USB B converter if I want a wired keyboard connection. The tablet only has USB C ports. I never tried connecting a bootable usb stick though, that might still work. Hell, it probably would have.

Backup options.
Is there anything out there like a non google drive version of google drive or similar. I have a laptop, a desktop, and two portable drives. What I would prefer is to have specific folders automatically synchronized every time I connect a portable drive. Automated backups already in windows would let me do that but only with one device. My backups of folders on my laptop can't be used to synchronize with a folder on my desktop. Not automated anyway, they don't want to compete with their own cloud service after all. Second option is a NATS, does anyone have experience with that. The goal is automated backup/synchronization of specific folders, but I don't know that I want to spend a whole bunch of money on it. Just backing up whenever I feel like it is obviously not enough, I lost a bunch of work recently because of a BIOS update that made my PIN number sign in useless, instead reverting to password mode, which I had used once and then forgotten about entirely when I found out I could use four digits instead. Tried a couple of workarounds, none worked, didn't have a microsoft account set up on that computer... Effectively I was locked out of my laptop with no recourse but to reinstall windows and lose all my files. Not a good day. Anyway made me realise that I should probably stop just thinking about it and do something instead.

Intel Kernel Memory Flaw - "Looking at a Ballpark Figure of 5-30% slow down"
Doom loses 10 fps near as i can tell. It's not the end of the world I guess.

Intel Kernel Memory Flaw - "Looking at a Ballpark Figure of 5-30% slow down"
Well, maybe certain people knew. Like intelligence agencies. You can sell an exploit like that for a lot of money. The moment it's public, it's worthless though. Remember the theories around the last round of wannacry ransomware.

I am considering just not using my windows tablet for internet though. I can get things on and off it with USB sticks.

Time for a Ryzen build I guess.

Lots of scamming in that market, products that look like they have an antenna and it's just solid plastic when you open it up. A thing about receivers though. I noticed that my new bluetooth headset can reach an extra room in my apartment. The old ones get chopped off as soon as I go in the bathroom. Point being, both ends of the connection matter.- What are you playing now
Try the radio. Might be a level requirement on the signal, can't remember. Neighborhood of the national guard bunker. Wait, scratch that actually. Google :- What are you playing now
Nuka world is high level, but you can just go there and start it I think. Port-something (the good one) is one of the cases you get from valentines agency so he prolly needs to.be freed.first- What are you playing now
Using Xbox controller now. Maybe a PS is the way to go. Like those better anyway.- What are you playing now
Trial and error. Endurance has always been a gamer's greatest strength! Kinda disappointed. The game can't reliably carry out combo moves. I mean, I suppose it could be a controller issue or just me sucking at it. There is this move where you jump back and sweep at the same time. I can do that about 75% of the time doing exactly the same thing, left stick+right button. Tried leading with either slightly or at the same time. Doesn't make a difference. As you can imagine the difference between jumping backwards and lunging forwards is rather significant. I think I've done the kick once by accident. I think the tolerances are just bad. PVP considerations perhaps.- What are you playing now
Dark Souls 3. Still trying to beat the first boss. It's the kind of thing where you need to be able to tell what animations signal what moves, and how to counter them. Until you have it all figured out you just fail again and again.- Looking for a new monitor
Odd with augmented reality tech and everything the way that it is, that I can't buy a Geordi Larforge visor that gives me predator vision.- Steam Haven
I think I might jump on dark souls 3 for 15 Euro.- Looking for a new monitor
Not convinced that TN vs IPS panels makes any difference. I have a cheap 1080p TN panel and an expensive 4k IPS panel hooked up at home. One isn't harder to read text on than the other. The expensive one just looks nicer and doesn't have the narrow viewing angle. The text itself is perfectly crisp.- Looking for a new monitor
Blood pressure and smoking matters, in the long run, damages your arteries. I smoke, but my resting blood pressure is normal. Except whenever you smoke your blood pressure goes up. So there's that. Eye exercises won't help you with this, but of course you need to avoid the wrong kind of stresses, like staring at your phone all the time. Otherwise I could get special glasses, similar to those yellow tinted 'tactical' visors you can get, anti glare coating and filtering out certain colours and so on, they make the edges crisper. Too much of a hassle for me I think. If I couldn't see text properly on my monitor, that would drive me crazy though. I'd get stupid looking glasses for that. I assume you all know about https://justgetflux.com/ it matches your monitor levels to the time of day, helps prevent eyestrain, and makes it easier to fall asleep as well.- Steam Haven
33 is not enough. I was wondering about Elite Dangerous, but it's multiplayer only. Those kinds of games die out when the user base dies out. How far off is that now.- Steam Haven
Don't see anything I want. Rainbow 6 siege, is that the 'gloryhole' shooter.- Looking for a new monitor
A thing about glasses though, if you strain your eyes slightly to get focus, even without noticing it, you need new ones. I have had tests and glasses made a bunch of times this year and I don't know why but the results seem to vary quite a bit even though my eyes haven't changed much. For whatever reason the tests doesn't conform well to real life conditions. Lighting conditions make a huge difference for me. Really I should have one set for late night and one for daytime. I can see perfectly well in the daytime and not quite as well as i would like in the night time. The slight straining that makes your eyes tired, there is a good chance it can be corrected if your glasses are 'zeroed in' for whatever protracted task you are doing, like reading or using a computer screen. Do you like gray blob A better than gray blob B. They look identical and yet they are absolutely not. 35 of those questions and I wager, for my part anyway, that arriving at the wrong conclusion is a real possibility. It all sounds obvious, but the optician actually asked me if I spent a lot of time in front of a computer. So he could spend more time testing that range. We want multiple focus glasses so we don't have 8 different ones to carry around, but it's a compromise, at least until they make glasses that can change shape. That went on a bit. Point being you can probably get glasses that are better suited for using a monitor. - Best portable usb/blu tooth wifi adaptor?
