  1. Your friend probably smokes too much, or the wrong kind. I have long been a proponent of the 'high light', where you still have your wits about you and aren't going for snacks every 5 minutes.
  2. My dad had a quite successful career as a writer and I don't remember ever seeing him work when he wasn't high. Just sayin'. It helped him concentrate by blurring out everything else.
  3. You may not agree - well, you DON'T agree - but getting stoned is all about pushing your brain chemistry in ways it wouldn't normally move. It moves people and not always in good ways. Rather like alcohol its effects depend on who is taking it, when they take it, and why. It can interfere with work itself, it can affect motivation, it can lead to over-relaxation and neglect of important functions... like bloody showering if memory of university serves. I find it relatively easy to relax so I don't touch the stuff. I mainline coffee to work, and inhale the ale to socialise. These things balance, and I think in other people dope helps them balance. But if you use anything inappropriately then you become imbalanced and that CAN be problematic. I think your personal experience of hash users has skewered your perception to an unreasonable degree. It does not impact work performance unless it becomes a daily thing. Sure not every one can keep their usage in check, but that's not really what we were discussing. Potheads smell like the clothes hamper, drunks smell like what they had to drink this week. That's neither here nor there.
  4. I wish they had gotten an Englishman to write the dialogue, it's full of double superlatives and superfluous adjectives. It's like they were aiming for a tone that doesn't really exist.
  5. Or everyone may become pacifists and who would fight our wars. Unless we unwittingly unleash a power to great to be harnessed on the world.
  6. I see you lurking, giving me the evil eye, but you know it's true.
  7. They have you by the balls. Especially if you organise a large portion of your social life through that site. There is no going back, no quitting, it would be too much of a hassle for everyone on your friends list.

I guess I'll root for whoever plays the boldest saturday.

Having a 100% counter attack oriented strategy is unfortunately a little too effective, it's pretty boring watching two of those of teams playing each other. It's depressing to watch Holland do it remembering the levels of enjoyable football they produced with the Creuff doctrine. Spain deserved the win for persisting in their pressure.

Boring so far. Spain are trying something at least. Germany mostly just lying in wait.
  11. PS I am not responsible if your house burns down.
  12. Well if it can't do it it should just shut off by itself, it shouldn't burn any breakers. If the electrical installations are up to scratch that is.
  13. You may be coping, but I still say daily use is not recommend. It should be a weekend sort of thing as a rule of thumb just IMHO. It's not like the prime stuff is exactly cheap either.
  14. What was the name of that special drug panel member under Brown who got the sack for saying acid and hash were mostly harmless and a waste of time to pursue legally...
  15. In my experience the main downside with hash is when people who are too young smoke too much of it. The physiology of the brain is still changing, the formation of personality is taking place, and so on. these things can be adversely affected as with a number of other drugs. Other than that responsible use is largely no problem at all for most people.
  16. It's a no brainer really.
  17. I dunno, I mean first of all I don't care because this is WOW, but it does seem like they are asking too much of people. I blame facebook.
  18. Spazing out for the gold medal, love it

Uruguay holding their own so far. It's like the Dutch have stage fright or something.

It's all in the humidity isn't it. Anyway several thousand died in that French heat wave a couple of years ago.
  21. How was the notoriously expensive prince wrap up concert ?
  22. Well, doesn't it make sense to try to weed out the intelligent people when you are running a scam, leaving you with just the suckers and less chance of things going south.
  23. Soooo.. the usual. I can't get involved, life's too short.
  24. My fans are showing age and make a lot more noise now than when I first got the case. It does seem like a lot of extra work though, unless you want to trial and error your way thought the whole thing. Not sure right now if I'm going to sink the next batch of disposable income into a laptop or desktop.
  25. Eventually, President Nguyen Minh Triet ordered that the case be re-examined. Media aviators always tell politicians to nip single issue cases in the bud by 'doing something', often doesn't matter what. No one could argue against examining the case again and now the crackpots are also appeased. Seems like Vietnam is not so very unlike the rest of the world. It might be worth noting that none of this, according to the article, has led to any legal decision.
