Yes I did. It reminded me a bit of Icewind Dale and BG1. The NPC's were more like something from BG then random characters with a generic fed ex quest attached, the story was more interesting and max level smaller; you didn't have extra filler gunk to get you up to level 20. It wasn't the best, but it was a fun romp and certainly had more attention to detail then the OC. Then again I'm a sucker for ancient ruins and lost civilisations (and when the OC went there was about the only time I found it fun). The way they treated the whole desther-aribeth situation in the OC was rubbish. It forced the player to accept a an explantion of events which wasn't at all logical and should have had multiple possible outcomes. Further it was just plain unecessary; put in simply to have a motivation for Aribeth's fall (which I'll add still felt very contrived - I didn't really empathise with her). You'll excuse me if I'm ragging on NWN but I've been replaying BG1 and 2 lately and my opinions are well-founded: NWN OC is the lowest point in Bioware's CRPG history. Oh and BTW, KOTOR > NWN.

Bethesda buys the Fallout IP from Interplay
Humodour replied to aVENGER's topic in Computer and Console
It's true. What are the chances of Bethesda licensing FO out to other companies, such as Obsid? -
You're kidding me. Anybody who calls NWN1 polished is bat**** insane. The OC was one of the most boring I've ever played in a game (it rivalled your average FPS). The henchman were exactly that; nothing deep or immersive about them. There was no sense of strategy at all - just point and click. The environment you played in was completely uninteractive and the graphics were worse than BG2 - at least that had handmade art even if it was pixelated. Not to mention the side-quests were boring as hell and very unimaginative. The two expansions were a lot better but they still paled in comparison to, say, BG, IWD or Torment. Now I haven't played NWN2 yet but from what I hear it'll be just up my alley; assuming I turn puppet mode on, install all the patches and don't play it till the xpack is out.

Rubbish. Bring luck into the equation and you're going to piss of many many fans; and with good reason. Skill (FPS) or probability/strategy (a much more consistant luck) work, but something beyond the player's (and indeed, designer's) control rarely ever will.

Never really liked Starbuck as a character.

Interplay sells The Black Hound rights to Sega

You bastards. -
Kara is the 5th cylon? Lord high leader of the Cylons perhaps? LOLOL How else does she plan to stop the cylons? Or perhaps they'll just fess up and the cylons will go "gay" and get stop attacking. WHO NOES.

Heh. I gave up after the first year. I know they'll pull out a stunner eventually, but I'm not holding my breath as to when.

Try not to spam them too much guys. My friend's hosting them and that site already has a forum that eats bandwidth. Perhaps somebody else could host them? They aren't all there - we managed to download that many before BIS went down for realz.

I hated the end of season 2. Anybody else share that dislike? It seemed out of the blue and unnecessary.
-
Haha I am so tempted to ask for that too. But I've got 2 episodes to go before season 3 ends, so I'll hold out.

I guess it'd be the last of a long line of forum migrations. I've been with "them" since the BIS vBulletin boards. But everything has become so watered down since then. Everything is less... exciting; both the board dynamics and the personalities of people. Rose-coloured lenses? TBH I'd stop viewing game forums altogether. I'm only really here in the hope that Obs will strike it lucky and make a truly great RPG - something that hasn't happened for a while with any company, IMHO - but if I had to place bets, they'd be on Obsidian to do that.

That was Whitemithrandir? Haha never would have guessed. Zot-Fot-Pik was awesome, though - no debates.

I'm playing Halo ATM. It's boring and lifeless. Tried playing Sacred. It, too, was boring and lifeless. DOTA keeps me occupied for hour bursts at a time but it's getting kind of boring and lifeless. Why do games suck so much these days? It's not 'cause I'm getting older; there's seriously a difference between old games like AOE2, Half-Life 1, IWD, FO, Deus Ex... and the **** they churn out these days. I can understand the majority being crap... but ALL of them? No gleaming gems amongst the darkness? I haven't played NWN2 yet so maybe that's the gem - but it's still only one game in hundreds. I have a feeling it's because of the push for new graphics. The more focus placed on that, the more shallow the game. Now of course you'd expect this to be true, but the fact that every single game has shown this shift is disturbing. Old school? 6'8" Italian Warlord was old school. I'm not Karzak. Now go away.
-
It should have been HL1 instead of HL2... though I get the feeling this list is more about representatives then specific games. As such, I won't moan about only one of the FO's being on there. PS:T should definitely be there. Diablo 2 should be there (best games of all time, not best RPG's of all time, kids). Glad System Shock 2 is there. DX is there. Hmmm what else? Good to see AOE is there. Would like to Quake 3 or something there as well as KOTOR1. And IMHO Bloodlines should be up there but I can see how many people would disagree on that one. Karzak would be insulted... if he were still here. But I bet he got tired of baiting fools like you long ago.

This forum is a bunch of poo. Use vBulletin of PHPBB instead. I mean, where's the ****ing delete button, eh?

I would agree with you, Amentep. It felt rushed towards the end, and very hack n' slash, and no matter what I did to make the Prince irate, the most I got punished was a few less gold and one less apartment... ... the game was balanced more towards evil than good, but I suppose it was possible to save her and it IS the World of Darkness. And long time no see. EDIT: Don't get me wrong, I did love the game. I was fairly invincible as a Tremere brawler/shooter
-
I ****ing love it! Go guys! Fight those French Interplay bastards. Oh wait. That was so a far years ago. Either way, it looks like an awesome project to take on.

They're going to check if I need my wisdom teeth removed when I am back home next. Likely verdict is a yes. FLAMFLAMFLAMFLAMing piece of FLAMFLAMFLAMFLAM.

This looks awesome. But will they do Opposing Force, too? Hey Gorgon. What's up? Is Mistress Lair around? Y'know, you registered immediately after me... and it was almost 3 years ago now. Wow. Nostalgia alert. And hey, Josh works at Obs now. Coolio, but you guys hurry up and make a game that ain't a sequel, eh? Wish I had my original version of HL. My favourite FPS along with Deus Ex 1 and System Shock 2 and Giants: Citizen Kabuto.

Indeed. I thoroughly enjoyed Bloodlines. I think the WoD has a lot of potential. Have to say as good as Malkavians were, the Mage... Tremere were a lot more powerful and fun to play (FPS-wise... talking to stop signs is always gold). The game went to **** at the end. As did KOTOR2. Why do that? It REALLY ruins an awesome game. *sigh* Luckily, Bloodlines even had enough good choices to make to make me happy. I'm one of those people who just doesn't get a kick out of being evil.
