  1. OK, I'm definitely buying this game. I thought it looked potentially **** when they first announced it, but I was completely wrong.
  2. Holy **** this game is so ****ing awesome.
  3. And a substantial number would prefer buying both upholstery and engine. Unix is such a joy to use compared to Windows.
  4. That's a pretty silly post to make considering that before it I recall only one person complaining about it being an MMO (Visceris, as usual) and everybody else going "wow" and "it's tyte". Edit: Oh, I see, ramza complimented the game while complaining it was an MMO as he'd prefer singleplayer. Well then, that's 1 person and 1 troll - certainly enough to validate your moan!
  5. Jacqui Smith is a moron and he likes her so I'm not fond of him. Aside from that he just seems a bit incompetent and overly politically correct. He's certainly no economist. That, and his party has been in power for, like, 14 years. Certainly long after the time stagnation kicks in. It's just unfortunate that this probably means at least 6 years of the Tories in power. Edit: Blair was cool.
  6. Same. I can really see the potential. And Google has just enough clout to get it adopted as the standard... not that it needs it considering how outdated email is and un-uniform other communication formats are. People will adopt naturally I think. Wait, SVN? Oh wow, I guess it does replace that, too! Not Git though - Wave seems a purely centralised protocol?
  7. It takes a special kind of abject ignorance to confuse ADHD with laziness these days, given the wealth of neurological research on the topic.
  8. You can feel guilty all you want, but that won't do you any good either way. If you've got ADHD then you're feeling guilty about your genetics. If you don't then you're working yourself into an unhealthy state of mind that's quite contrary to the one you're actually aiming for.
  9. The last time I tried something like that, I came home with intricate patterns and designs on my arms, made with simple pen and ink. I know this sounds like I am stubbornly avoiding this possible solution to keep procrastinating, but everything has the potential to distract me. My current job is a 3D special effects artist on an animated short film, I work in a basement with bare walls except for two pieces of concept art. All I have there is a computer and a render farm. Yet sometimes I zone out for long periods of time, sometimes hours of just staring into nothingness. Or at least, if I am thinking about something, I forget about it when I snap out of it. Sounds like you've got ADHD like me. I actually thought this before reading the start of your post (I read your post from the bottom up for some reason). If you fit the criteria, you'd be amazed how well dexamphetamine (the typical adult prescription for ADHD) helps you focus. However, if it truly is a learned behaviour dexamphetamine would do nothing but worsen your lack of concentration. Certainly worth discussing with an ADHD specialist (generally psychiatrists over here).
  10. Good advice. Except I then end up procrastinating going to the library to do the assignment. So the best thing to do is just standing up one day, walking out the door, heading to the library and then thinking about what you're going to do there. Helps if you take your flash drive.
  11. I hear you. Unfortunately that means I'm in the same boat and thus can't help. It's currently 2:14 AM, I have a C++ assignment due tomorrow before noon, I've got about 2 hours of coding left to do (which I haven't touched in days), and I'm about to say "I'll go to bed - I can do it tomorrow." And I probably could do it tomorrow, but I probably won't. *sigh*
  12. R.I.P. Email: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Wave
  13. I'm a strange breed of Monarchist Republican. If I were a Brit, I'd be quite proud of the monarchy, but as an Australian I feel it's improper (not that a directly elected executive would be any better - which is what we'll probably get at the next referendum... why can't we preserve the status quo and just shift the GG's powers around a bit like, say, an independent, ceremonial executive indirectly elected by parliament, but I digress). So yeah, the Queen.
  14. I don't get it. I thought all fire warning signs read like that?
  15. lord of flies: So we should leave North Korea alone, throwing money at it and hope they switch to a market economy that respects individual rights, all while people continue to starve there? 2 million people died in the engineered famine of the 90's. 2 million people. Yes, lots of people would die during war with Korea - possibly hundreds of thousands (most North Korean soldiers would actually run away according to defectors and spies - only something like 1 in 10 have real guns). But would it be 2 million? Or 10 million? Or whatever the death toll due to totalitarianism is in North Korea now (it's been like 60 years, and if we don't act, it will continue on indefinitely, so I imagine you could actually place it well above that). You're basically arguing for the perpetuation of a brutal totalitarian state because it's 'easier' and doesn't require you to have made any moral judgement. Just an addendum: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/...-dead-land.html
  16. Larian (Divine Divinity) does children's games in between their Divinity RPGs. They sell like crazy and are easy to churn out apparently.
  17. Yeah, I don't see why people think they need to argue when they're obviously in agreement. Guess some people just like to be argumentative. Why do I get the feeling that it doesn't matter WHAT I say to you, because I'm a woman?
  18. Yeah guys, suggest me some vegetarian recipes (or just ones involving no meat, like omelette). I moved into a share house and I've been living off pasta, nachos, burgers, and toast. It's starting to get boring. Some of the more fancy ideas I have are: French toast (egg, milk, bread, frying pan, topped off with tomato sauce) and potato salad (I have potato salad dressing and potatoes, is that it?) Edit: easy recipes preferred.
  19. I disagree. I think this thread is ample evidence that providing political motivations in the game could be really personally involving and rewarding. Deus Ex understood this, even if they never got time to add the option of joining MJ12. The 'freedom' path was, however, superbly executed and I felt compelled not by saving the world or personal gain but the politics behind it all.
  20. Is this sarcasm or something? Because war worked/would work so much better, right? What's your stance on all the millions of starving and brainwashed North Koreans? I mean you say you hate imperialism and colonialism so much - surely it's for reasons of human rights?
  21. Is the sheep male or female?
  22. Just because someone holds a cohesive worldview that happens to be the opposite of what someone else holds, doesn't mean they're a "contrarian." I could just as easily say that right-wingers are contrarian because they are in opposition to pretty much everything I believe, but does that mean that they define themselves by opposition? No. Poor example (or good example for me). Right-wingers often do define themselves by dogmatic opposition to anything remotely left-of-centre and rarely if ever consider policies on their merits (rather than whether they classify as 'left' or 'right'). Yes, and you'll continue to hold those viewpoints in spite of any evidence to the contrary or consideration on a situational basis. Why?
  23. I assume that you mean "contrarian" as in I believe things contrary to regressivism, imperialism, sexism, capitalism, and neo-colonialism, right? Not really. More like you believe in taking the opposite stance of anything centrist or right-wing rather than considering things on their merits. Such knee-jerk ideology galls me, from both the left and the right.
