  1. You were implying that if Nightshape says downloading copyright content is theft, then we should listen to him because he works on games (he's been hired by someone now has he? Good for him). Not so, and the law doesn't actually define copyright infringement as theft.
  2. I'm sorry but this just reads like bitter vitriol from someone who's never even used an iPhone. I don't have one myself, nor want one, but I've seen enough of my friends use it and love it to know that you're full of ****. I had one, and absolutely hated it. I'm unique, I know, but not spewing "vitriol." Fine, fine. BLAST IT WITH PISS!
  3. There, fixed it for you... Which is theft, what is your point? Nightshape, by the way, is a person who works on games. When the people creating the games tell you piracy is theft, that would seem to be a fairly authoritative person on the matter. Actually, he'd be a person with a vested interest in the situation, so I'd say he'd be about as authoritative or objective as the person doing the downloading. The definition is a legal issue. Media companies (and their employees) shouldn't be defining or making law. That's not how it works, Hurlshot.
  4. China owns about 7% of US debt. Japan about 6%. I don't think you're correct. Here's a run-down of what exactly the 'debt' is, too: And here, thanks to Wikipedia, you can see the main holders of US public debt, which is I guess the main type of debt you care about, and the type mentioned in the above quote about securities: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States...reign_ownership China owns about 23% Japan owns about 21% The rest is spread among reasonably uniformly among the world's countries.

  6. Apple contributes to open source software way more than Microsoft does, you know.
  7. And less portable. Air is bigger, and has a worse form factor for mobility.
  8. I noticed that Jedi Watchmen get Sneak Attack. Well that's a deal-breaker (maker?) for me, because once you stun or stasis an enemy, you get automatic sneak attacks on them. Now the question is, what base class should I take? I'm thinking Jedi Consular for the difficulty class bonus for my force powers, as well as more force powers.
  9. Oh, the anti-vaxxers aren't going to be happy about this! This is probably one of the single biggest charity donations towards a single cause ever. And I like how tangible it is.
  10. Yeah! Screw what the Taiwanese themselves think! Honestly, I had a Chinese nationalist say exactly that to me yesterday, Meshugger. Makes me sick.
  11. http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-world...00130-n5p3.html Somebody remind me how many times a year the Chinese government throws these tantrums? I've lost count. I know it's threw tantrums at India, Australia, America, Canada, and the EU (as well as specific EU nations) last year, with the usual multitude of thinly-veiled threats.
  12. http://www.physorg.com/news183983627.html Interesting article on the current status and some recent advances in nuclear fusion. Looks like we'll see it in our lifetime.
  13. I lol at New Zealand broadband speeds. :D
  14. ****, it is 12:30am. Better go take a look. I think I missed it. The moon looks normal size. Full, and fairly big, but normal. IS this a northern-hemisphere only thing?
  15. Yes, and it's really really frustrating trying to discuss politics with someone like that. To the point that it's probably not viable. Because I have a radically different point of view than you do? My best friend is a Libertarian (ok probably make that a plural: friends). He often has radically different points of view, especially on economic policy, but he's patient and unassuming in defending his positions. He doesn't resort to conspiracy, gut instinct, and rumour like the economic and social conservatives I meet from America all too often do. So, no, it's not got anything to do with radically different points of view. It's got everything to do with deliberately reinforcing your own bias rather than looking at things objectively. Way to make my blood boil.
  16. 10 inches isn't too small to work on. It's also probably one of the lightest netbooks or tablets out there. It's easy to carry. Techno-peasant!
  17. I'm going to drum on about Australia again, so for anybody sick of that, avert your eyes: Australia has a moderately regulated finance and banking sector. We also happen to have one of the top 5 most prosperous AND stable banking sectors in the world. None of our 4 biggest banks are allowed to even consider merging. During the financial 'crisis', our banks all turned a profit and expanded overseas acquisitions. Most economists agree that the sector did so well because of about 25 consecutive years of good government regulation from both the major parties. Thank you, regulation! You don't want less regulation, you want smart regulation; evidence-based policy.
  18. I think it's a valid point that having celebrities voice your game adds needless costs for absolutely no discernible quality gain. Portal. Ellen McLain. Typical of the excellent quality level of unknown voice artists.
  19. For legacy gaming purposes I want to build a top of the line single core machine. I'll maybe buy two of each part to prolong its life. What caused me to do this is noticing that a lot of old games (e.g. Beyond Good and Evil) don't play nice with newer hardware and newer operating systems.
  20. Cool I'll take a look in a few hours. It's only 8pm, so not dark yet.
  21. When I was a teenage boy who wanted to shoot stuff, I choose games like Fallout and Deus Ex. Don't stereotype, mister!
