I don't acknowledge a number of your superfluous posts if you haven't noticed. Nor do I wish to argue a point with folks who think that anyone turning themselves from a millionaire into a billionaire is no great achievement, nor folks who are deluded enough to think that all one has to do to make money is to throw their money into an index fund (neverminding this is not how Trump made his money). Nor folks who won't put their money where their mouth is. Nor folks who make up BS excuses for why they weren't successful before they are. The greater point I was trying to make was made. If you can't see it, you can't see it. It has been my observation that you don't see a lot of things. The numbers I pulled from wiki, which pulls the numbers from all over. I never said Trump was worth $100 billion, so far as I know, neither has he. Frankly his exact net worth doesn't matter to me, and the number I gave was stated to be a rough one. Also, for the sake of argument: if Trump only made himself 100x wealthier (or even just 10x wealthier) than when he started out, one is a fool to not think that is a great accomplishment. Only fools who have never done such themselves would take that sour grapes view. But hey... I sincerely hope you get wealthy via index funds, if you actually do put your money where your mouth is. Given how easy some here seem to think it is to grow an investment, to not make that investment would be foolish.

There's a number of cases I'd say are worse than Kelo v. New London in recent times. As bad as the Kelo v. New London ruling was, it was at least within the legitimate scope and power of the SCOTUS, and as you pointed out the States have (and some have exercised) the ability to circumvent the ruling by passing laws to do so. Two high profile cases that I'd say were worse than that ruling were Obergefell v. Hodges ('gay marriage') and National Federation of Independent Business v. Sebelius ('Obamacare'). There's a lot wrong with both of those rulings, not the least of which is that States have little to no recourse in regards to passing laws to circumvent the ruling. Kelo v. New London didn't take power away from the States and put it in the hands of the Federal government, these two cases did (two of many rulings that ignore the 10th Amendment). I don't want to get into a large discussion on this topic though (at least not in this thread) so I'll just leave it at that. If you want more of my opinion on this, feel free to PM me. Make no mistake though, I agree that Kelo v. New London was a horrible ruling, as well as agree that the five justices should have been dragged out of the courthouse at the end of a rope and hung in the streets. I'm of the opinion that a majority of everyone on Capital Hill should be. The general populace at large hasn't yet gotten to that point however, so we're stuck with the evil for at least a while longer. That said, more and more are thinking along these lines everyday. People aren't just buying guns because they think that the 2nd amendment is going to go away. And only fools with their heads in the sand think that at this point such people are only fringe loonies. One of the primary purposes of the 2nd amendment may be lost on some, but it is not lost on all. One of the best speeches ever in my opinion applies very much in the USA today: https://www.history.org/almanack/life/politics/giveme.cfm There are more and more people from all walks of life who would agree with Mr. Henry's sentiments applied to 2016 USA every day. As I said, this may be the last Presidential election in the U.S. that matters, for a variety of reasons....

Wake up. What further evidence do you need that the 'Libertarian Party' has been hijacked beyond Jeb Bush or Mitt Romney saying they might go that way? At the end of the day, that party is owned by the same people who own the Blues and the Reds, and has been for at least a few elections at this point. Ah, so if by some miracle Johnson manages to get enough votes to win, you can just say the libertarians are really just a part of the big 2 parties. How convenient for your rhetoric. Also your math is off by a few zeroes. If Pid had 100,000 then he could turn it into a million by investing smartly over 40 years. Not 1,000. Not convenient no. I truly wish there was a legitimate third party (and fourth and fifth at least) alternative to the establishment two. While there might be one or more out there on the fringes, the Libertarian party certainly is not it. And to be clear, I personally agree with a great deal of the 'libertarian' philosophy, and in fact on a philosophical level I would go much further in the true freedom direction that most libertarians ever would. However, I realize that the political party that pretends to adhere to those values, does so at about the same rate as the two majors adhere to their supposed values. On top of that though, I always go with the better candidate, regardless of their party. The last two go arounds I supported Ron Paul, there is very good reason I do not support Gary Johnson. And no, my math isn't off. Trump's net worth is roughly 1000 times what he started with. And that's after all his relatively well publicized failures.

Doesn't matter. By your philosophy you could simply turn even $1000 into more than a million, just by investing in an index fund. I assume any index fund will do, as you don't need to be intelligent or successful to realize which one of those you'd even need. As WoD said a page or two back: Successful people are not afraid to fail. I'll go one further and say that successful people also don't make up BS excuses for why they weren't successful before they are. Either put your money where you mouth is, or realize you're full of it. Or, continue to bask in your willful ignorance, thinking things that are patently untrue and ignoring the realities all around you that prove such.

Lots of people inherit a million or two dollars. Lots of people get fronted similar amounts of money by their parents when they start out. Extremely few turn that money into billions as Trump has. You are uninformed or a fool if you don't see that. He didn't inherit 1 or 2 million dollars, he inherited a lot more. The money Trump got from his dad was enough to net him billions of dollars as long as he invested it in some index fund back in the 70s. Ok. It's clear now. You are a fool. Good luck getting rich on your philosophy. You'll need it.

Games you want that'll likely never exist

This could be an epicly fun game, but not in the Forgotten Realms universe. For it to reach maximum fun potential it would have to take place in modern day America. -
I am not dissapoint. Erdogan anounce castration of Turkish army and we support him now Sure, sure. But how do you curtial the rise of islamism in the region? Like or not, Kemalism brought stability whereas Erdogan's policies....not so much. But Turkey is NATO member/EU future member. Not our problem The wackoloons who would accept Turkey into the EU, are absolutely not friends of Russia, and it's that lack of friendliness which is a primary reason some want Turkey in the EU to begin with. Turkey being in the EU would likely ultimately be a big problem for everyone. Hopefully the EU falls apart before that insane harbinger of war becomes a reality.

I'm dying lmfao!I am surprise at the amount of money spent. Not on Hillarys side of course, but trumps. Trump is far more intelligent than many here are realizing. He's easily the smartest front runner we've had in more than half a century (and I am not one who is dumb enough to think that any frontrunner was less than well above average intelligence). If you do realize it, as well as how elections fundamentally work, how the media game is played, and how people are really swayed, you'll realize that Trump has been playing it about as perfectly as one can. His campaign against Hillary has barely begun, and look where he is....

Bushido's concepts and tenets are sadly beyond a great many modern westerners.

I learned that there are still commercial planes flying over Turkey.... Also $16 a day rental at Orlando airport is a pretty good deal. But what is the significance of TK8456? ... Who's that from? It's probably just weekend rates [/rentalagent] I figure that there's three major outcomes of this. 1 is the current government stays in control, and the president clamps down on free speech. 2 is the military takes over and the same thing happens. 3 would be that this is the kickoff of a protracted civil war to mirror the one in Syria. Think it was Budget, but not sure. The page timed out and when I reloaded it the ad was gone. I wasn't planning on traveling in Florida anytime soon so I didn't look into it. Very low for an airport rate in general, though I've no experience renting cars in Florida. Car rental rates can be wonky, and if you shop around a lot sometimes it's possible to find amazing deals. ie: Last fall I scored a ridiculously low rate on a mid size at a non-airport site. $14.80/day (taxes included) with unlimited miles (this was done by shopping around a lot, using a promo code, and my AAA discount). I kept it for 3 weeks and 3 days and put almost 10,000 miles on it. I almost felt guilty. I paid less for 24 days than the previous renter did for same car for a weekend (they left their receipt in the glove compartment). Eh. It's dependent on demand and fleet levels more than anything. My particular branch of Hertz was at the point we were sending out cars on the weekend for 10 bucks a day (mileage is a thing of the past for the most part especially if local), which is most of the reason that that particular branch is shutting down. Florida is a... wonky market because it's SUCH a tourist state/market. Looks like the coup is officially Treason, so I'd expect a crackdown soon, which will either make things better, or worse. Aye. Hertz was where I rented from. It was October. Typically a low demand month where I live. One thing I found interesting (and a tip for any would be flyers who rent cars), was that the office I rented from cost nearly half of what it would have cost me if I had gone to the closest Hertz office (I drove an hour to get the deal I got), and local airport rate was more than quadruple what I paid to rent a car from a Hertz office less than 5 miles from the airport office. So, if you're ever in the market for a rental in a place you flew to, it behooves you to check the rates at not just different companies, but different locations of that company, even within the same city. Taking a short cab ride to a non airport rental office very well might be worth it. Also, sites like Priceline were only marginally helpful. I would never have found the deal I found had I not shopped directly on the rental company's site, and played with dates on the site to find the best rate (ie: what day you start your rental on can make a big difference, Monday's rate might be different than Tuesday's rate, which might be different than Wednesday's rate, etc).

Apparently, it's mental health. That's been the major problem all along. It used to be guns were at fault. So I suppose progress is being made. Babysteps.

It might be time to expect more unexpected. It's looking like the poop may have been tossed. When it hits the fan is anyone's guess, but specks of it are certainly beginning to hit some on the ground. But perhaps there's still more time and they're just flicking specks off the pile right now. One can hope....

Too early to tell. I'd put a small sum on a backdoor behind the curtains NATO influenced shenanigan though.

Flight of the seabirds, scattered like lost words Wheel to the storm and fly. Faring thee well now. Let your life proceed by its own design. Nothing to tell now. Let the words be yours, I'm done with mine.

True that. The elephants grow restless though. My concern is that It may not be long before one or more goes on a rampage like none has in at least a couple of generations. Trampling the ignorant en mass, and even many of those who can see them who aren't fast enough to get out of their way or lucky enough to not be in their way.... Ignorance might be bliss for some, but it can ultimately be quite deadly for others. Throughout human history, far more oft than not, it's the latter, not the former.

Sorry, but i prefer girls. You may call me whatever you wish, my dear oby. damn valsuelm for stealing my joke! He can call you Meshuggess

I genuinely hope so. Be careful what you wish for. A coup in Turkey could indeed be a very good thing. It's a nation that has long needed to overthrow it's corrupt government, and string up it's 'leaders'. However, a coup in Turkey could also lead to something far far worse than what is already there.
-
Not hanging one's evil 'leaders' eventually surely leads evil to one's door. The west overall has become very very good at not holding it's 'leaders' accountable, to it's great detriment, and very possibly ultimately to it's demise.

Sorry, but i prefer girls. What if Meshugger decided to identify as a girl?
