  1. Uhhhh.... Minsc and Dynaheir were not romantically involved.
  2. Wine goes with a great many things. It's probably the most parable of all categories of alcoholic beverages. There's a reason that restaurants have wine lists, and some even have full time employees to oversee their wine collection and advise patrons on selections. White wine in winter time is perfectly fine. Sauvignon Blanc would generally be consumed with poultry, fish, or some desserts. Here are some other ideas for it: http://www.hellovino.com/food/wine/pairing/sauvignon-blanc But really, you could have it with anything you wanted, or by itself of course.
  3. An oxymoronic statement made by a sociopathic moron. Putin is playing the PR game as well as the World Chess game, he's good at it, and generally he is winning it. I would never accuse him of being thin skinned. At that level of politics almost no one is.
  4. Indeed. The month is more important and descriptive than the number of the day in most conversations about dates so it makes sense that it would come first. Also, in English one most often would say 'December 1st, 2014' rather than the '1st of December, 2014'. So the M/D/Y follows the language better as well.
  5. Do you really think US sources from other side of world is more creditable than sources of Ukrinian neighbors? Meanwhile Russians can just make phone call to friends or family members from Ukraine and take truth from first hands. Creditable sources about Ukraine is Russia, Israel, Belarus. UK and US media just repost fairy tales about far country. I think it would depend on what we're talking about. In regards to what's happening in Ukraine, I think it would depend on what aspect of it we're talking about. The Ukrainian situation as it is right now has global ramifications and there are more players there than some might realize. Turning to a variety of different news sources in a variety of nations is the intelligent thing to do in such a situation as there is heavy propaganda on all currently apparent sides of this issue. Russia by no means has any kind of monopoly on Ukrainian ex-pats or on citizens of it's nation living in or conversing regularly with folks in Ukraine. Not to mention your average Ukrainian isn't going to exactly be an authority of everything that's happening in regards to their nation any more than any other average citizen of any nation is going to be about theirs. That said, of course it's a good idea to get as much info from as many Ukrainians as possible. However, I certainly wouldn't turn to the Ukrainian chicas who love posing with soldiers for information like you do, no matter how cute they may be. What the heck is your fascination with that? Also, I'm curious why on earth you would include Israel as a more creditable source of information than the U.S. or U.K. though, in regards to Ukraine. Israel is more remote to the Ukraine than most of the E.U. and it's media is arguably less known for it's credibility in regards to foreign affairs than any of the aforementioned nation's media. It also doesn't have skin in this game, at least publicly known skin, and more often than not when it's own interests aren't at play it's media will just parrot the interests of those it courts as it's main allies: The U.S. and U.K..
  6. On these forums? Sure, if you mean the Obsidian forums. No, if you mean the PoE forums. When PoE2 is announced there will be forums for that particular game, to discuss possible romance, or anything else relevant to that game. Romances are not relevant to PoE.
  7. Yea.. that reason is tens of millions of more people are playing computer games nowadays than when the older games came out.
  8. Yes, because only a Russian source could possibly have something interesting or some truth in it. In regards to your posts, this is an English forum, when you post whatever please either post in English or supply English translations. Half the stuff you post is lost on most of the people here. I'm sure I'm not alone here in not speaking/reading Russian (sorry, I'm not as awesome as you).
  9. You've raised some good points but on the topic of CNN, Sky and BBC being biased let me say this I watch these channels primarily and from watching these I know Crimea is populated primarily by people who are Russian speaking and have political allegiances to Russia Russia considers Crimea to be important due to its historical and geographical significance Any sanctions against Russia will hurt the West as well There will be no military action against Russia The West wants dialog to end the crisis I don't know about you but that presenting of the news seems objective and reasonable to me? Can RT claim the same? http://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2014/03/05/propaganda-rules-news-paul-craig-roberts/
  10. What I think on the subject doesn't matter too much at this point in regards to PoE, but I will say in general that romance in a game is not a black and white issue for me. If this thread is moved out of the PoE forum I'll debate the pros and cons of romance in a game with you. But so long as this thread is here, I'll lobby to have it moved out, as I would any other thread that won't die that has little to nothing to do with PoE. We may as well be discussing the merits of making PoE a POV game instead of isometric, that's how much this subject really doesn't belong in this forum at this point. I actually wonder why the mods haven't moved it out, they are usually overactive in my opinion in other matters, though perhaps the only ones paying attention here are pro-romance.
  11. Okay great idea, but don't you think that a person can enjoy PoE even if there isn't Romance? Surly thats possible .... Possible sure. But one wonders when this thread and others concerning the topic are still going on despite the announcement there will be no romance. You don't see similar threads on subjects like PoE on the console or PoE as a 3D game despite some on these forums having wanting them in the past. They generally accept what they want isn't going to be in the game after being told so and move on, but not many of those in favor of romance. Why the romance folks can't let this subject die is beyond me. Swallow the loss and wait for PoE2 is what should be done, not clutter up this forum with the banality of this thread. This thread really belongs in Computer and Console though as it has little to nothing to do with PoE at this point.

  13. While RT can be bias and propagandic it is better than most, and there are certainly more bias and propagandic news channels out there. RT is certainly better than any of the major networks in the U.S. and the BBC in regards to telling it like it is. Do they ignore some of Russia's BS? Of course they do, but they don't ignore the U.S./U.K./et al's BS anywhere near as much as the BBC, CNN, FOX, CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, et al. do. It's a sad sad state of journalistic affairs when one does have to turn to a network like RT to get better coverage of some issues than you'll find on their competition. It says more about the other networks than it does RT that RT has the viewership and guests that it does have. The same could be said of AlJazeera and PressTV. Really, if you're of the mind that the BBC or CNN is less bias than RT I'd say you've bought a bit too much into their propaganda and biased reporting. And it actually has happened at CNN. Lou Dobbs left years ago for similar reasons to what Liz mentions in her resignation, however he did do it a bit more professionally than she did. I'm sure it's happened at BBC as well though I don't follow that news source quite as much. I personally know a number of folks working at the various big networks in the US (emmy winners even) and have been behind the scenes quite a bit, and can tell you that folks resign all the time (and are fired) at major networks and newspapers believe it or not for similar reasons as what Liz stated (in essence their ethics are compromised). It's just relatively rare that it's done on air and by one of the talking heads (usually it's behind the camera folks and producers as they're generally the ones fighting to put the unbiased story on air, not the person actually saying the words (those folks are usually the kind of folks that will say anything)). The news business is a very unethical business overall. The biased story is the norm not the exception, and journalistic integrity isn't common, especially on television news. A good question to always ask oneself about any news story on any of the networks is 'Why am I being shown this?'. The answer to that question is often not the one your average viewer thinks it is. In general news networks hire folks who will say what they want them to say, so the conflict of interest or beliefs in the TV personality isn't common, but it's not rare either.
  14. Anyone who thinks that the Confederate flag is only associated with racism these days is mistaken.
  15. And we all know that's a prestigious meaningful award given to men or women who bleed, sweat, and cry peacefulness, awarded by an unbiased objective intelligent committee. Seriously, @#)*$ any Nobel prize. Their credibility is long since been blown away. Good for anyone who gets due to the possible monetary award, but other than that it's rubbish.
  16. Interesting indeed and I stand corrected in regards to my original post. I was unaware of the 'fan off' feature of some newer models. I'm still rocking my 550W Coolermaster that I bought in early 2006, that has lived and not needed upgrading through 3 builds now. Still works more than fine. I'm not sure I'd buy a PSU that had such a feature though as how are you to know if the fan is faulty and doesn't work if it's designed to sometimes run and sometimes not?
  17. Oh no.... all you mention are dead horses. The discussion, and the discussion of the discussion. Like vampires who once lived as horses, then rose to be undead horses, and yet had stakes driven through their hearts and their heads chopped off, the discussion of romance in PoE is in every way is beyond a dead horse. When the sequel to PoE is announced perhaps these dead horses can be resurrected in some unholy manner yet again, but right now everything to do with this subject deader than dead, and the folks trying to continue this discussion are like some aberrant perpetrators of necrophiliactic undead bestiality, as that is how dead and overdone this subject is on the PoE forums. I look forward to the day when I can look at the first page of this forum and not see the word 'romance' anywhere on it. Really. Let this thread and subject die please, either that or someone please move these threads to the off-topic or the general forum. This game deserves better threads and subjects discussed than this one, which is far beyond a dead horse at this point.
  18. Yup. We could conceivably see Putin be the Russian president until 2024 under current laws there as his most recent term started in 2012.
  19. If something as simple as the fan isn't working on a brand new PSU I'd return it under the warranty and get a new one. A faulty PSU is not something you want in your case.
  20. While that wouldn't quite be the same as what's going on in Ukraine as it is not as simple as the Ukraine dropping Russia for the EU (despite what most western news stories are saying) nor is there a Russian equivalent to the EU, without a doubt if the tables were turned and such a thing were to occur in today's world you would see the U.K. act in similar manner, and without a doubt many in the west would see it as perfectly ok.
  21. Comparing Afghanistan and Georgia to Ukraine/Crimea is like comparing apples and oranges to Aliens/UFOs. Georgia and Afghanistan were/are two very different situations, and Ukraine/Crimea is even more different. The strategic importance of Ukraine/ Crimea to Russia is arguably second to none except Russia itself. There are few if any similar situations to compare it to in the modern world. Any competent leader of Russia would be willing to go to war over external influences attempting to wrest control of it away, which is what the west is doing through back channels. The situation is much more comparable in strategic important value to say how Ireland is to the U.K., but even then maybe not so much. The EU/US/UK aren't messing around on Russia's block right now, or even in their backyard, they're messing around on Russia's back porch, and it's leaders would be smart to back off. Unfortunately for the world in this and many other regards, it's leaders aren't smart (we as a people don't hold them accountable). Here's a synopsis article that might put things in perspective simple like for you if aren't familiar with the history of the region: http://davidstockmanscontracorner.com/2014/03/02/memo-to-obama-this-was-their-red-line/
  22. But what about my divine right to rule?
  23. Not even remotely a weird argument. Putting aside the fact that I am for citizens owning grenades and rocket launchers legally as making them illegal really doesn't accomplish much good (I personally know some ex-military who do indeed own grenades outside of the realm of the law and at least one person who could build you a rocket launcher in his garage (and you might note they aren't running around blowing people up)), you assume very wrongly that any insurrection is going to be nothing but non-military vs. military. If a large scale rebellion ever arises in the U.S. (and most anywhere else) that will definitely not be the case. Believe it or not conversations amongst people in the U.S. military are had these days about what they'd do in the face of a rebellion, and it's no small amount of them they would join in it. It would not be long before most everything the government has in terms of resources is in the hands of those looking to overthrow it. I realize you're in Sweden where rebellion is not part of the everyday discussions (heck. you still have a King) and socialism/communism is embraced by near everyone there it seems. But in some places like the U.S., there are a lot of folks who do not forget how our freedoms were won, and who realize they are disappearing at an ever increasing rate. It is no coincidence that gun and ammo sales have gone through the roof in the last few years in this nation at the same time we see our Constitution all but ripped to shreds (there is not much of it that hasn't been gutted at this point), and watch our government do whatever it pleases no matter how unethical, unlawful, or evil it may be, with little to no consequences seen for the perpetrators of these deeds. While some folks like to discuss which of our rights we're willing to give up for X, and many more would rather just pretend everything is hunky dory because their life is going relatively well or they're just too ignorant, others are increasingly thinking the time for discussion is nearing an end, not to mention many realize the economy is on the precipice of an abyss. 15 years ago if you brought up revolution in your average church, bar, or other public discussion most people would look at you like you're an alien. Today, it's not an uncommon subject to hear being discussed, and more and more people are seeing it as something that is probably inevitable.
  24. Not only would a non-trivial amount of troops refuse to fight a non-trivial amount of troops would join the opposition to the government if/when it comes to that. Civil wars are usually messy, very. As for rights vs. privileges, when we started accepting that the government grants us privileges to do simple things such as drive a car we started forgetting what freedom is. The DMV is an abomination in a free nation, especially considering what it's come to be in most if not all U.S. states at this point (far far more than just a drivers licensing bureau).
  25. Keep in mind it's China we're getting our news from, and they aren't known for their honesty in regards to telling the world of their internal affairs. Also that the Uyghur people have been oppressed to put it lightly under the Chinese government. Whoever did it, there's more than currently meets the eye in regards to why, especially given the location of the attack in relation to where those who China is saying did it are from.
