  1. ^Ive read its supposed to be unobtrusive but yes, there are microtransactions you can make to purchase DLC from in-game NPC's.
  2. I think you obviously have not followed the Iraqi war well enough just to recognize that there was 'noone' from the Iraqi army who has fought against the US troops. If there was a possiblity for this, surely US troops would never attempt to invade Iraq. I see.... Well, youre response coupled with mkreku's iron-clad logic has convinced me! Whatever you do, do not click this link as it will undoubtedly blow your mind.

The pilot episode was on last night and I thought it was pretty good. Decent CGI and actors although the plot is kinda lame IMO. Im definately looking forward to seeing more.
  6. So the mystery is solved and now I know what the "schu" means in alanschu.
  7. Its required if you want your DLC to work, according to this thread.
  8. The first two, Interview with the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat are outstanding. Things fall apart in book three, Queen of the Damned and thats where I stopped although Ive heard Anne Rice redeemed herself somewhat in book four, Tale of the Body Thief. I dont know anthing about the remaining six, Memnoch the Devil, The Vampire Armand, Merrik, Blood and Gold, Blackwood Farm and Blood Canticle.
  9. Hold up, so Iraq didnt have an army when we invaded? Something along the lines of having the fourth largest army in the world at the time, fighting on their own home turf? Weird.
  10. But the thing is that you just become used to videogames or movies, not actual violence. Among others, there was a swede scientist who did an experiment on this a few years ago where a group of people were exposed to tons of gory horror films and whatnot, then shown real news footage. They showed no signs whatsoever of having developed greater tolerance for disturbing images from reality, just fictional film. The brain will always differentiate between real and imaginary wether you want it to or not, and the hard fact is that no amount of 'simulated' violence can prepare you for the real thing. Huh, interesting. Maybe its just me, but I know I get used to real images of violence. Taking my earlier example, the first time I saw someones head blown off with a shotgun I was mortified. I mean its truley a disgusting sight to behold. Ten examples later, no so much. I mean, its still gross but not like it was the first time. The same may possibly be said of porn. Who among us wasnt titilated by viewing our first breast? Does that same picture have the same affect now? Probably not, now you need a bit more. Almost like a drug, lol.
  11. I think repeated viewing of violent scenes does have a desensitizing effect on people, you just get used to it. That does not mean it makes you more violent or likely to offend, just less likely to be taken aback by it. Do a little experiment on yorself. Go to rottendotcom (WARNING: Truly offensive stuff showing true life pictures of the many many ways to die and their results). You will be disgusted by what you see there. Then go back next week and look again, a little less disgusted no? Then the following week...I think we see where this is going. The abstract of doing "this" action or "that" action to "win" is not the same as your mind becoming used to violence.
  12. Yes, its exactly like The Blair Witch Project. I dont like that style of filming (it gives me a slight headache after an hour or so) and Paranormal Activities had the added burden of being shot entirely within three rooms of a house (bedroom, hallway/stairs, living room) so its not even visually stimulating. Then you have to sit through 21 "days of footage" to get to the moneyshot. Ug. I suppose if you buy into "its the real stuff!" it may be slightly scary but at this point, that style movie isnt even fresh anymore.
  13. Lol, nope, and Im the perfect mark for ghost/demon/evil spirit movies, they usually scare me silly. Slashers dont bother me, zombies or monsters dont bother me but something about spirits does. Also, the ending. It just ends right after the scariest part of the movie! The screen just went black and the lights came up. No credits or anything so everyone was just looking around at each other wondering WTF just happened. Im mean, Im sure there are credits at some point but we sat there for around 20 seconds before gathering our crap and walking out and still no credits had started rolling.
  14. Paranormal Activity Total and utter crap. Filmed in "shaky cam" and consisting of 85.5 minutes of mind-numbing-praying-for-the-sweet-release-of-death, punctuated with an ending 30 seconds of scary.
  15. And this at a time when we are relaxing our enforcement on cannabis. I wouldnt be at all surprised to see it fully legalized in my lifetime.
  16. What possible benefit is there for the US to run an unending war? The trillions spent? The thousands of soldiers lost? All to "test new weapons"? C'mon. You could have at least trotted out ye ole standby "we want their oil" dur hur.
  17. Ive read that if your system could handle the character generator, it could handle the game itself. Did you try out the character generator?
  18. I dont see the appeal of releasing little bits here and there in a small game world (compared to a MMORPG). I mean, are you going to replay the entire game just to get a keep? Or to try a few new spells? Or to get a new item? I dunno, maybe a new race would be worth it, but for me, replaying a single player game has never happened. Even my all time favorite, BGII has a large mod-made expansion come out (whos name escapes me at the moment) with tons of new classes and stuff and I just couldnt get into it enough to experience the same story with only a slight twist. Hell, I cant even bother to level my alts in WoW because I dont want to go through all the old crap again.
  19. Now I dont care what a person ingests as long as it doesnt affect another, but the above is a scary stratement to put out there to the public. Ecstasy is pretty much a stew of several man made chemicals and IMO, is in an entirely different class then reefer.
  20. ^Huh, thats kinda neat. I would have expected them to be more expensive being that they are supposedly originals. Or maybe theyre not that hard to find?
  21. IIRC, Gaider said the cap was 15-16 but most players will only reach around 12-13.
  22. Yes, I have. Im still rocking a P4 3Ghz at home but due to my wifes recent raise that should be changing fairly soonish and Im interested in exploring some games that would make my current rig cry like a little girl. With that in mind, Steam seems like a good way to get stuff fast provided the prices are the same as retail. I can kinda guess the Pro's of Steam but can anyone give me the Con's? Something crazy like you have to be logged into Steam to play them, or something like that?
  23. Agreed, those are really good.
  24. Can you expand on the bolded? Does that mean there is no limit to the number of PC's that simultaneously have the same game installed? For exapmle, could I have at the same time the same game installed on my home desktop, work desktop and a laptop? Or did you mean there is no limit to the number of times you could download the same game, but only on one PC at a time?
  25. I've been juggling two characters, one horde one ally. My ally is doing what she normally does as the Warrior queen of tanking. My horde is actually a DK, which is of the school of "easy to learn, hard to master" in terms of getting good numbers out of it. I've also got the purified Ony talisman on Kith so that I can plow through old dungeons if I want and not have to worry about anything killing me due to regen I ran a BE DK up to lvl 62 before I got a little bored. Its a pretty fun class to play but at the end of the day I dont like melee as much as I like being the artillary. Respecced my Mage off-spec to Arcane and have been really impressed with the DPS. Now I just have to retrain my brain and muscle memory to optimize my DPS output.
