Ive been to bars in Thailand where the performers were more than happy to "collect" a stack of coins. Bartenders tend to be a service I over-tip on. When I come back for the next round and the line is 5 people deep I like to give the ole head nod and point to my glass and usually they remember me and bump me up the line.

Interesting. I tip pretty much everyone that physically has to bring me something (waiter/pizza guy/bartender), but not people standing at a register. I remember years ago we were at a trade show in Detroit and went across the border to Canada to hit a strip club. At that time, unlike in the US, you were not supposed to bait the dancers with $1 bills. My mind was blown.

I did a ride along when I got out of the Navy (was considering following my fathers footsteps). It was hours of boredom punctuated by a few minutes of excitement. I think the only call we got during my ride was an alarm at some business. On the other hand, we got free lunch at the local Burger King.

I was kidding, there are no modding threads and the lack of a dedicated forum does not prevent posters from creating them. Is the working theory that there are tons of mods just waiting to be discussed and released but they cant because there isn't a dedicated forum?

Im still a little confused. I though my example was a clear indication that it did/does exists, but I am sure there are many sub-examples that I didn't cite. Specifically racial profiling? I dunno. If you patrol a minority neighborhood are you going to look for non-minority perpetrators? I suspect you mean outlier cases like the one you mentioned a long time ago about the police hassling some bums or something? Im more curious about sentencing disparities. Every crime has window of punishment, regardless of who commits the crime. So what causes the disparity? Having a good lawyer? Im sure that definitely tilts things to your advantage but is that it? I would be interested to see the sentencing ranges received for both black and white defendants that used a public defender. Are the sentences closer in those case?

I agree that any race can be racist but disagree that there is/was no "systemic" racism. US government backed segregation of Black / Japanese / Native American being excellent examples. Also, I cant recall ever seeing you start a thread.
