Losing your connection to the Force
Kaftan Barlast replied to rika's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
but seriously, the notion that one could forget how to use the force is ludicrous. if it was so damn important to the devs to have the PC run around with blasters and vibroblades the first levels then why not slap in a reason we can belive in... -

Losing your connection to the Force
Kaftan Barlast replied to rika's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
We all know this "forgetting the force" stems from the fact that game devs want your char to start from the ground and work you way up. There is really no logical or EU explanation to it. -

Why did Revan go to Korriban?
Kaftan Barlast replied to KOTORFanactic's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Well, if one has a very popular deceased and multiple interests want the honour of hosting his remains. Its entirely possible that said deceased person could be divided among the interests due to his dead condition not requiring him to have all parts of himself in the same place. -
The "boobjob" is standard for young male fantasy artists. Just like the curious fact that female warriors always seem to suffer from a severe lack of the protection and armour, that their male counterparts have in abundance. ..and the hips and legs are disproportional. Ive done my share of nude drawing/painting and that is off. Seems the artist spent too much time on the face and the..torso

She/he got her brain fried from the salvo that Malak fired, all the council did was to rebuild it with some jedi mojo. And hell, Palpatine got ambushed from behind and thrown into a maintenance shaft.. hows that for the most powerful Sith in the galaxy? Now the EU is a place where jedi can explode suns at will and rearrange the comsos but these are all works of overimaginative paperback writers competing on who gets to write about the most powerful dude in the galaxy. IF that had happened to Tolkiens creations, we'd have weird people claiming Gandalf could fire ICBMs from his nostrils... It just aint right, damnit!

That would only be possible if one had KoTOR installed, most people remove games after theyre done with them. Obsidians system of having an NPC ask you discreet questions in-game is a much better solution.

September's Greatest Poll
Kaftan Barlast replied to Topaz Quasar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
No more yellow eyes and hideous accents please... Judging from that nice switchover graphic between the white female jedi(forgot her name) and the masked character, they share some history. In Lucas's tradition that would imply family. -
You're not angry at all? Not even a wee tiny bit? come on... you could atleast be slightly upset.. :D

Definitive answer to possible playthroughs?
Kaftan Barlast replied to GSpotFrenzy's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
There will only be two major ways to play K2- Lightside or dark, there is no way that Obsidian could handle more options than that, within the timeframe. We have been promised cameos by many of the characters in K but these wont have much to do with the central storyline. -

Yes, in a better society the amount of influence you wield should be relative to the merits of your arguments, not the size of your stock portfolio. -

what? MC's comment regarding the "oxymoron" was about allende being a democratic socialist vs. a totalitarian stalinist... that's what i was referring to... my argument IS what actually lies underneath a socialist system. regardless of the type of government you implement, socialism is tyranny. I think I saw something you didnt intend, or I just missunderstood. Either way, this is very interesting, can you explain exactly how socialism is tyrranic? and does that stretch over to all types of goverments that try to control the market economy? (I dont mean this as rethoric, I am sincerely interested) Yes, this is true. As I said earlier, Id like it very much if you clearified this whole thing. Probably even before then, the babylonians invented the.. I have no idea what "kilskrift" is in english. I think I was referring to the class system. In modern day society it is the workers(people who make their living by working for a salary) that are in the mercy of the economic elite. Companies are constantly theatening, directly or indierctly, their employees with unemployment. Companies are doing their best to hold the employees down. This can be seen by the increase in "project-based" and such work tasks where people are only employed for shorter periods of time, and the decrease in real, longterm employment. This also allows the companies to save money by cutting back benefits and so on. The work climate in todays society is much harder than 20 or 30 years ago and this can be seen by the rising number of stress-related illness among workers. The workers must work for their living and in that they are bound to be ruled by companies they must work for. This is the tyranny of capitalism as I see it. And capitalism offers no guarantees, I agree. I did not actually intend to claim it did. But the general public often think it does. But we who are critical to it usually refer to it as a sort of an ideal, much like feminists talk about the patriarchy. Its perhaps not an ideal, but its there. And it is flawed, one example that comes to mind is the fact that farmers burn enormous amounts of crops in order to keep the prices high. This is a hideous, inexusable and most of all inhuman waste of resources. Another is the fact that medical companies make more money by not curing disease. Its is more profitable if a patient needs contineuos doses of a preparate than if he is cured of the ilness entirely. The inhumanity of capitalism is its biggest flaw, there is no such thing as compassion in capitalism(unless theres profit in it). It is a ruthless thing, whatever it is. Yes, it was a bit ierrelevant. But it showcases that in a country ruled by money, only the rich have power. A goverment without control over the economy is controlled by the economy and what is then the point of having a goverment at all? Id like to make it clear that I am not a communist or anything of that sort, I dont know if I could really call myself socialist either. But I belive that the market economy/capitalism is inhuman and must be strictly controlled in order for the well-being of mankind. -
