Revan in KOTOR III.
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to ShadowPaladin V1.0's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
<The exile is flying through space and spots a large asteroid off in the distance.> <T-3 takes the ship in for a closer look and the exile can just about see a humanoid figure on the surface. He orders the ship to land.> <The figure looks up.> <Exile>I know you ! Your that Revan character everyone kept talking about. <The figure rises to their feet and sighs.> <Exile>Your supposed to be off fighting the Sith in the unknown regions what are you doing here? <Figure shuffles from foot to foot not meeting the exiles gaze.> <Revan>Well it was like this. I left on a ship from Malachor and a couple of lightyears along the bloody thing broke down.. <Exile> tries to hide a grin but fails. <T-3> Beewooopp.. <Revan>So for the last however many months I've been living on this asteroid surviving on Mynoks and slug spit. <Exile>EWWWWWWW!!!! <T-3> Dwwooop <Revan> Sigh <Exile>Oh right. Well It just happens that I'm on my way to fight the Sith myself now. Long story tell you later. Need a lift mate? (My less than serious Revan meets the Exile on the way to the unknown regions) -

Revan in KOTOR III.
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to ShadowPaladin V1.0's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Unless a bunch of people missed the purpose of it and complained when it didnt match I dont think I want to play a level 30 protagonist. And I sure dont want to start over at level 1. Plus if you have an old character , you then have to do tons of filling in so that people new to the series know whats going on. If the next one is like 2 or 3 years away then it's even more important. -

Actually he she said "a lot of people". -
The problem with a content patch are as follows. 1. Piss of MS and Xbox customers. Which is the only reason KOTOR was made in the first place. 2. Most people who bought the game will never get it since the online thing runs to about 15% even in heavily online games like NwN. 3. Any changes mean that you have two different versions out there. Which in turn means by the time of KOTOR III you have more variables than you do already. Which means that your writing lots of different possibles which may or may not be part of someones game. 4. As long as you keep LA sweet this will all blow over as long as NwNII is memorable for all the right reasons. In this industry your only as good as your last game except among the cult followers. A content patch that fills in some spaces without changing anything too significant might just happen. But I wouldnt put money on it.

Gamespot's Rumor Control

Yes it's very good. Jokes some people dont get is quite apt. -
Dosnt matter , it will still mean far more variables for KOTOR III. From a design point uncertainty is the worse thing of all when writing a series.

Oh yes thats perfect !! The only part I didnt get was Hanhar/Mira , that seemed uneeded. Especially if you come outside and she is no where to be found. GOTO - Remote didnt need an answer , the answer was provided in the closing cinematic. -

No they didnt. They sold you a product that was simply not finished to your liking. World of diference there. Unfinished product would have been arriving on Telos and the computer screen going black because there was nothing else there. KOTOR II has an end. The only part that really needed to come out that was left in was Mira/Hanhar , the rest is really easy. -
Gamespot's Rumor Control

I wouldnt use that anology myself. Rather I would see it as the comedian using fresh material for most of the night and then right at the end using a couple of old tired jokes which you already knew the punchline to. That wouldnt ruin the evening because the other material was A+ stuff. -

Gamespot's Rumor Control
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to funcroc's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
That's ridiculous. If you even remotely think that is true then you really havnt played enough games. The end sequences takes all of 2 hours, if that. So no one is being robbed because the ending is about 10% of the game. Halo II ? Finished in under 6 hours. Now that's MY idea of being robbed But that one I rented. -
Peragus had an almost unique atmosphere. Almost RE with robots with a detective story subplot. Starting with the warhero feat takes the edge off the difficulty but it was still eerie walking around a dead planet.

It should be quite clear that since the Xbox version was released eariler and this didnt happen. The entire focus of this comes from leaving files on the game disk. That is what everyone is fixated on , and without that evidence this would have died shortly after release. Dont do it again Feargus. Screw the modders et al. Think of the company first and clean up your future projects like you would a crime scene. -
NWN 2 News Exclusive Interview with Ferret!
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Rhomal's topic in Computer and Console
I'm sure you would like to believe that, but it's entirely false. The only reason they added an OC is because they relalised the game would bomb without one. Nothing to do with people bugging them on message boards i'm afraid. Even then the OC was a lucklustre effort which entirely showed that they never really put their hearts into it. -
It's probably something you have to keep quiet, like being a tranvestite or something

dosnt your first sentence contradict you last? If that sort of worry free gaming is really what you want. Buy a console or two, because it wont happen on the PC. -

It just struck me funny that we both came up with the exact same example.

The importance of endings
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Computer and Console
I try to put my preconceptions aside myself. I never liked Tidus starting out, but he grew to be an ok guy over the course of the story and by the end I was really moved. I think playing FFX first made it easier to play Yuna and Co. As did the fact that the "romance" was post game. True, thats why you get things like KOTOR where they try to fool you with a false identity. It works in small doses, but you cant make every RPG that way. I can take either. I love coming up with my own characters and filling in the blanks as they go through the story. Equally I enjoy playing the game and watching the story unfold according to what I do (anyone who thinks that dosnt apply in JRPGs is well, wrong). It's just a lot more subtle. What I dont like is the oh look here is a character with no memory and we are going to fool you into thinking it's your character. So you can make all the pointless choices you want because our story is already written. -
no, there is another

Well what the film dosnt tell you is that the whole "Vader" thing was a plan he cooked up with his mate Obi Wan to avoid paying child support. But it got out of hand. -

The importance of endings

If pre gen characters ala FF/PST have a flaw it's that sometimes the character will put certain people off the game . In FFX-2 having 3 female leads put a lot of people off. Varn got some stick for looking effiminate etc. PST , that ones kinda obvious. Not everyone wants to play a zombie.
