Out of how many units sold ? That petition proves one of two things. The people banging on about the ending are a small minority. Or that there are so few customers online that they are rather irrelevent to the big picture which is sales of a million+. While you might think that 6400 signitures is worth something. It's worth nothing LA would be incredibly happy if they thought only 6400 people disliked the game. Such pathetic numbers will only encourage publishers to follow LA's example.. "What only 6400 people complained and the game had no ending"! ? Marketing exec "Score" !!!

Saw the preview today and if they ever want that thing to take off they need to kill Billie Piper ASAP, or even replace her with a wooden stump , it probably has more acting ability anyway. And whoever wrote the dialogue for the advert......

KOTOR 2 ITALIAN COMMUNITY

You probably want to talk to one of the guys with the orange names. They will be able to advise you most likely. You could try one of the green guys(developers) as well. -
Upgrading weapons, armor....
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Furie's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
When you first click on a workbench you should get an option in the list for upgrade. It should read something like this. <Learn about> <Use to upgrade> <Use to create or breakdown> <leave> (Xbox version PC may differ). You can get lightsabers, but until you create your own (it's part of the main plot cant miss it). Mostly you will get parts which can be used in the construction. -
Is it one product per booth or something?

Can't really unless they finalise the character in some way.

Ever hear of the trinity system in Suikoden III? The only problem with playing known characters is that people new to the game wont have the same previous experience as those who have. Therefore you really need to include a new character as well, if you take this approach. New character does the early chapters. Then you move onto the next character. Then the next one Then at some point they all meet and find out they have been doing the same thing but from different directions. Starting people over at level one tends to be frowned on in a known rules system.

If Obsidian and LA continue their working relationship long term. At some point it's likely for KOTOR to switch to the NwNII engine (since the rules engines are very similiar). It would seem the logical step to me anyway. I still think I would save that step for making the series my own as it were (new trilogy/ new characters no Revan or KOTOR npcs).

Upgrades are your friend. With the right feats you only get a -2 to AC for using a ranged weapon in combat. Actually I used a custom disruptor all the way till Korriban with Bao up front doing his glowy arm thing. On Korriban the rules change a bit so I had to get out a tremor sword. At the end I did force wave followed rapid shot to clear out the stunned targets (watchman bonus) it was much faster than running up to everone and hitting them. Another one I like is the bowcaster with the 18-20 *3 range.

Did they ? Or was it "would like to" ? Personally I'd want to get this trilogy out of the way and make the next one all my own work rather than try to changes too much. People like familiar especially as part of a series. There is more money releasing on the Xbox, X2 is a gamble on whether or not enough people will buy it right away to be viable. Also people who bought KOTOR I&II might not buy one and people who didnt have an Xbox might, which means you will have an influx of people who are fairly clueless about the series and this will require a lot of work in back story telling. I think It would be pretty foolish if LA offered , to turn them down for an Xbox release. People might be more cautious the next time but I doubt many people would ignore the game unseen.

Take you pick. In the first game I hardly ever used them because A. weapon switching was a pain in the butt (thanks a billion for ranged AI Obsidian) B. They would more often than not get hit by their own reflected weapons. Something which still happens , but there is a feat for that specific purpose now. I still prefer my Mira with twin watchman blasters than anything else. Hk's also very lethal with his protocols restored and critical hit. I usually make him a custom disruptor with a huge threat range. Atton works really well as a ranged Jedi. Stasis/insanity plus rapid shot because smugglers dont get too many feats and the chances are he's been going the ranged route prior to "jedification".

If it's the same engine they already have the jump by having a whole planet and a HK factory ready. Plus and most important they now have experience on just what they can do in that short time period. I'd rather see the back of the current KOTOR trilogy on the Xbox and start over for the nextbox with a whole new look etc.

The importance of endings
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Computer and Console
Yes I remember that one too. If that is indeed the case, then yes it makes perfect sense to focus on the bits that the most people will see. -
That may be true, but then you are not getting a population in a game like you do in real life. Only a few individuals will ever be eligable to "be your friend" in a game. You cant just go upto Joe on the corner tell him how great you are and get him to tag along. Even in games like Suikoden where you have 108 "followers" you can still only get the 108 that were intended for you. Of course the larger number of followers gives you a much greater sense of importance. It is more interesting. But it's also pretty much beyond the realistic scope of a game too. It's a roleplaying game not a political science game after all. Religion is a powerful tool , because it holds the keys to the "afterlife".And for a race that lives much of the time knowing of it's own mortality that is a powerful thing, whether or not it is true. It's not really applicable in a SW games though. The exile does cause people to act out of character. But what is never clear is whether he does it conciously or not. If it's not intended, then the way the influence system works makes perfect sense. Kreia never changes her alignment regardless of influence (at least from what I have seen) because Kreia is immune to your powers and because her will is as strong or stronger than yours? Considering that previous games went something like. Gain a level - talk to NPC. Gain another level - talk to NPC some more until you ran out of conversations. The influence system even as is , is a big improvement.

I dont see the relevence between what he does and making games. It's a totally different thing. I also conclude he's a low level employee to even hint at his job on a public message board. How many PC RPGS of recent years measure up to KOTOR II ? Not many. If you then take into account that KOTOR II was done in a year, thats not only fantastic, it's darn near miraculous. As we were talking about on the other thread. It's not just KOTOR II that has a weak ending. The biggest mistake I personally think Obsidian made was leaving the bits in. People can speculate till they are blue in the face and no one will take them seriously. But leaving behind the files left evidence and thats more difficult to shake off.
