I want to be a dragon
Coincidence replied to Dragonnn's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Skyrim overdid it. First Dragon: OH #%#$ a dragon, run! Second Dragon: The dragon is attacking the tower, join us so we can kill it, It'll be a hard battle but we'll get him. 10836th Dragon: OH #%#$ a dragon, don't move so I can one-shot you with my Exquisite diamond slingshot. That's why you get the Deadly Dragons mod on top of playing on the hardest difficulty. They actually become a threat! -
Isn't that pretty much what happens with every turn of generations? The parents used to "rebel" against their parents (by rebel I mean think the things their parents do are uncool or something like that), then their kids rebel against them. To quote George Orwell: "Every generation imagines itself to be more intelligent than the one that went before it, and wiser than the one that comes after it."

I dunno, but I've been hoping that the dungeon is sort of the buried remains of a destroyed civilzation instead of just a huge dungeon. I like it when I'm in a place that is creepy and hostile, but a long time ago it was just another city. It gives it a lot more room for history. Maybe it was a giant statue honoring a god of that civilization, or a statue of a leader.

I love unresolved parts of the plot (done in an intentional way and not because of bad writing making a plot hole). One of my favorite things in the Elder Scrolls for example is that there is an entire race that vanished, and despite the fact different characters in the game have guesses that are anything from being all killed, to being destroyed by a god, to becoming divine, the game never tells you what really happened to them.

Yog-Sothoth is better than Cthulhu in my opinion. But yeah, I'd love a Lovecraftian type of creature somewhere. -

They were intelligent and very hard to fight in BG2. I think they were very well done there. Right. I just like when you have actual conversations with them and possibly don't even have to kill them. Dragons are usually some of the oldest beings in the universes they are in (not counting immortal gods, demi-gods, etc.) and so I always found the idea they're just mindless killing beasts in so many games to be very odd. If anything I would think their years of experience and intelligence would make them do something a little more smart. For example, even if the dragon is evil perhaps he'd try to manipulate your average treasure hunter to serve him instead of outright killing him. But yes, I like how they were done in Baldur's Gate 2 as well. -
I'm sure that Obsidian has enough experience to be able to tell the difference between ideas people want that are generally good, and ideas people want that would appeal to a minority and probably aren't worth it/aren't good. Listening to the fans and having to *obey* the fans are two different things.

Not sure if someone brought it up yet, but another thing to keep in mind is if you have a bunch of "average" looking men and women making up the game then the people described as "beautiful" really stand out. I forget the universe, but I remember a story where there was one elven civilization that claimed to have a queen so beautiful it was almost alien, and they worshipped her as a goddess, building statues to show off her beauty. Too bad she looked exactly like every other female in her race, making her "beauty" mean nothing.

I'd be more concerned about their role in the plot and storylines instead of how they look. Make them look "realistic" all you want, but putting them in roles where they're under men, or controlled by men, or are generally helpless, or anything of that nature and it doesn't really matter. It doesn't have to be the "main" one, but I kind of hope one of the antagonists has a strong female thing going on.

Drink some coffee, gurl! I hate coffee.... XD But I will go wander off for some tea before I have to take the dog in to the groomers and run my errands. I just had to put my 'plea for reasonable dialogue' into the romance thread again. Because I'm somewhat masochistic like that and keep going back in there. How can you hate coffee? I do enjoy tea though as well.

I don't have much to add, but I'd also like there to not be TOO many outlandish weapons and armor, although if it's some legendary item with neat lore I can understand.

If they are in the game I'd love for them to be highly intelligent characters instead of just loot chests.
