  1. Pretty much entirely random battles, though there WERE a few instances of baddies running around, they were rare.
  2. It was at this point in the film that every network engineer who ever watched it started laughing their eyes out.
  3. Hi! EDIT: aw, I thought the thread was being locked, I better make up a pointful reply. ...You know, to a pointful thread. GUFFAW
  4. That was John Wayne, Pattern said that the idea of war isn't to die for your countary, but to make the other poor bastard die for his. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Patton was a warrior poet and did not denigrate his enemy; in fact his greatest strength was the respect that he showed ("I read your book, Rommel!"). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ah, thanks for the fix. You're right, it makes a differance. But yes, he also seemed to be a bit...'eccentric' effective, but eccentric. Then again, most of my 'knowledge' comes from the film.
  5. Honourable mention should go to Wild Arms 3. While there was a random battle system, before a battle, an '!' would appear above your characters head for about 3 seconds, and it was possible to press a button to advoid the battle. Doing this would drain some energy from your migrant meter depending on the power of the hostile party compared to your migrant level. In other words, it was completely possible to advoid weak badies with no negative side effects at all. Your migrant power could be build up by fighting battles or by picking up cystals littered around areas. Additionally, while the '!' is there, it's also possible to advoid battles by preforming an action, such as jumping off somthing or pushing a block. Nothing groundbreaking, but a nice system.
  6. In terms of RAM, not SO much, at least I never had any problems with 512 as far as modeling itself goes. The real problem can be video memory when you start dealing with high-poly models, it's not project-breaking, but the slowdown and jittering you get when moving your camera or manipulating objects can be a bit annoying if your machine is struggling, and this is exactly why I invested in a 256MB graphics card. It broke (well, the fan stopped working, easy to fix) at one point and I had to go back to 64, which could cause a bit of jittering.
  7. I'm in post-production, so whenever i'm rendering a test scene (which is a lot at the moment, sorry )
  8. As far as I understand it, Maya is the industry standard for films, while the games industry uses 3D Max. To be honest though, all these programs are pretty similar, just with altered interfaces and different names for everything. Some are more user friendly while others have shortcuts for useful functions ect, but at the core, the algorithums they use are pretty identical. So it basically just comes down to 'personal preferance'.
  9. Commandos 2 is a worthy game, but the series is completely realtime (with pause).
  10. Do you hate him or somthing? Also Chrono Cross has this 'bump into baddies to fight' system, but if you're European, you'll have to import. Shadow Hearts has random battles, but I never found them to be a problem (the game is about 20 hours, so the dungeons are really short and there is a story with actual pacing).
  11. Agree
  12. ...or if you dont...there are other...ways... Also, not EXACTLY 'TB' but Combat mission can deliver a very satisfying experiance. Think a more detailed Close Combat, only, you give orders every 60 seconds. So give orders, your troops follow them for 60 seconds, then the game pauses so you can give another set of orders. Erm...I think it was 60 seconds anyway, can't remember exactly.
  13. Chuck Norris can't be Master Chef (LOL) because chuck norris would kick his pansy arse then ravish his sister.
  14. There ARE times that I love the french.
  15. This is a very interesting point of view. I am not christian, but have a mild belief that jesus did exist, and possibly that he never really thought of himself as the son of god any more than 'we are all the sons of god'.
  16. Ultimately it is ALWAYS the consumers fault, and I love bringing that point back to people. 'Bad games are the fault of publishers/devs!' well, yeah, but it's the consumer that dictates weather it will happen again.
  17. You jerk, you stole part of my point! You're still missing the point, you're very willing to bash librals and boast about the behavior of republicans without looking at the other face of the coin of either side. You say nothing of all the 'good' liberals who actually do do credit to their side, and nothing to all the 'bad' republicans who probably hold views that would make you personally sick, THIS is bias. This thread was NEVER about 'i'm going to support my side and ironically prove the point of the thread' it was 'what trends have you noticed in reguards to the debate patterns of either side' quite what tire slashing has to do with this as anything more than justifying your own views. Just look at your 'Democracy fails unless we can see the honour in our opponents.' ALL the examples you cited were of evil democrats taking advantage of poor misunderstood republicans. The point is COMPLETELY valid, but you havn't said ONE bad thing about any republican in a thread which is all about how two sides balance each other. My bias towards republicans/librals is irrelivent because I dont care for either side, why would I, my point was never that any of the facts you presented were wrong, just that they were focused on one side, and 'not being in either camp' it becomes easier for me to see. Incidently, my bias is against close-minded morons who can't see the forest for their own tree-humping. facts LOL
  18. That thought is going to keep me warm tonight.
  19. Just to clarify, <3<3 OFP
  20. You told me you liked that song! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I also stole your watch and ravished your sister.
  21. A child hitting a tin with a wooden spoon is music, that doesn't make it good music.
  22. But could he walk on water?
  23. That was John Wayne, Pattern said that the idea of war isn't to die for your countary, but to make the other bastard die for his.
  24. This made me laugh
  25. Wait, you just agreed with me. EDIT: yeah, your post is still pretty bias, it's all well and good to shout about the bad things that one side has done then claim that the other side is perfect, but it's still bias. facts LOL
