  1. I understand that the cyclopedia entry on Suppression/Stacking is supposed to explain how buffs stack together, but in practice this still leads a lot of confusion and players accidentally getting/using abilities that don't stack with things they already have. ALSO, the entry does not seem to be fully accurate, as abilities like Zealous focus and Bless don't stack their Acc bonuses, but Bless and Holy Radiance (talented with Inspiring radiance) do. Zealous focus is a passive and bless is an active, so you'd expect them to stack, but they don't. Meanwhile Bless and Holy Radiance are both actives, yet they stack. The +10 acc bonus from Darcozzi Paladini's Liberating Exhoration stacks with Zealous focus too. So the bottom line, I'd like to see this whenever I look at the tooltip from a spell like Bless: [[[ (Yadda yadda Spell description.) The accuracy component of this spell does not stack with: Zealous Focus, spell B, spell C etc etc. ]]] I understand it'd be quite a bit of work, so I'm actually hoping a modder does something like this. It would be of great help to players trying to figure out how to better build their party/strategy.
  2. I guess I could ask a similar question for melee attack speed stacking. But anyway... There are many ranged speed buffs in this game, and I'd like to know whether they stack. How they stack I don't really care, though I suspect it would have to be additive. In particular, does the ranged speed buff from chanters stack with the Gunner talent, and with the Speed modifier (+20% speed) on weapons? Do these in turn stack with the Ranger's Swift Aim Modal?
  3. I just wanted to necro this thread because this bug still exists and it's actually quite silly because it effectively means Paladin zealous auras are effectively infinite in range eventually. However, fixing it back to how it should be working will likely bring up complaints on how small the actual range is, so I suggest that the range be buffed so that if you have a Paladin with Int in the 18+ range the auras should affect about a healthy 3/4 of the screen.
  4. Please please PLEASE no more big cities without improving loading times.
  5. I don't understand it because I've never played pen and paper, but I'll go right a head and say that I have no interest in pen and paper role-playing. I signed up for a computer game, I want to play a computer game. If I wanted to immerse myself in a fantasy world, I'll read a book. Pen and paper simply has no appeal to some people, including myself. There's nothing innately superior or inferior in the relation between traditional role-playing and crpg. Getting snobby about it just makes pen and paper look stuffy and bad by association, kinda like how wine snobs ruin wine when wine is a-ok by itself. edit: Actually scrap that. I understand it. I've read fantasy novels, played muds, played board games, watched twitch streams of p&p roleplaying. I think I have a pretty good grasp of what exercising your imagination is like. I just like to do it without the hassle of other people arguing about rules and minutiae all day while the game proceeds at a snail's pace.
  6. Oh lord this thread is a riot. The usual predictable "BG2 WAS CREATED IN MY PRECIOUS CHILDHOOD THEREFORE IT ARE BEST GAME EVAR WUT DRAGON AGE ROMANCES EWW TRASH" people.
  7. The loading times are alright if you're doing a dungeon or traversing wilderness, but any time you venture into cities with their multiple zones consisting of houses and floors the experience becomes maddening. It's especially annoying when you complete a task for an npc and you have to go through a bunch of zones that you will literally not even care to look at just to hand in a quest. I would absolutely be for a longer initial load when entering a city if transition between zones and within its houses were lower
  8. The long load times have got me speculating: are the environments to blame? Sure they're beautiful handcrafted rendered scenes, but does this mean they take longer to load than 3d environments? I would gladly trade 3d for these 2d environments if it meant better load times. Failing that, an option for lower-res environments would also be good if load times can be improved.
  9. I've never actually figured this out. How do I sell all the white and blue junk in my inventory apart from taking turns tapping the **** out of my mouse with both hands? Also why does the vendor have to show me all the junk I sell him? Is there any person out there interested in buying back their junk at 8 times the price?! Why can't the game just get rid of information on white items when they're sold and only have singletons on blues and yellows?
  10. 1. Bring all your summoning figurines for the boss fight in the cave 2. Target and focus down the xaurip high priests/priests 3. If you have a druid/cipher, make sure to constantly use charm effects against the drakes until everything else is dead. Divide and conquer and all that. 4. mechanics 10 req for getting your Tidefall. The challenging thing here for me was knowing you could get a such an end game weapon so early. 2nd playthru had a barb with soldier focus with the eye on this prize.
  11. Via either talents or an item that gives you a 1 phrase at start of combat. Currently it's kind of tedious building them up. Using just level 1 chants you'd need 20 seconds to build up 5 for a level 3 Invocation. The Invocations themselves are great but 20 seconds in the late game is a long time considering the weight of the powerful effects you sling around.
  12. The phantom invocation outclasses the skeleton one so bad it ain't funny. Flanking is trivial since you already get 6 guys + possible ranger pets. Skeletons are basically one shot on PoTD past level 3, so their tanking use disappears. Damage they never had anyway. Meanwhile Phantoms stun on hit. That's literally all you ever need on a low level summon.
  13. I supposed I never realised how bad the animal companion actually was when it wasn't bugged. Now it's gone back to doing nearly no damage and still pretty crap damage when attacking a marked prey target. However this is still more preferable for me than having something blatantly OP. I suppose the next step would be to revisit pet balancing sometime in the future
  14. Annnnd Itumaak is back to being the PoS he's supposed to have been. Thank you OE
  15. Heh, I don't mind, considering the way it's currently implemented feels wrong. I should have a BUFF for keeping my companion alive, like +10 accuracy, which I lose when it gets knocked out. This kind of implementation may also solve this problem.
  16. So basically I think the fix is not retroactive. Also I only noticed it after hitting lvl 7. It's either that or switching to the patch beta that caused the bug.
  17. no that would be the bug where enemies retain your buffs after flipping back from when you charmed them.
  18. I've kind of suspected this as well, since at the beginning the aura range was pitifully small on my 19 Int paladin and then has become large enough to not worry about positioning people to be in it. This is arguably how it should be: aura range should just always affect your entire team.
  19. I tried benching and rehiring Sagani but... no luck. Any chance there's some kind of hack that I can use to fix this? I want to use Marked Prey because it's a good ability, but I'm not gonna use it if it just makes things trivial...but then this was supposed to be my Sagani playthrough
  20. As I've posted elsewhere, as of build 563 the animal companion bug still exists almost without change for me. Stat sheet still showing massively boosted damage, Marked Prey still allowing pets to hit for 200+ dmg
  21. I'm using build 563 and the animal companion bug is still there.
  22. I have the latest build (563) and this bug still exists unchanged. save: http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=61829225022996454664 So for clarity: The stats sheet for the animal companion look definitely bugged (In Sagani's sheet it says Itumaak has +396% dmg). The auto-attack damage does not look bugged (about 20-28 dmg per hit from lvl 7 pet seems ok) auto-attacks from the pet on a marked target do 800% dmg.
  23. on a serious note, the best argument against romances I'm seeing in this thread amounts to "But Dragon Age has them and that game sucks!" If Obsidian actually had writers capable of doing romances properly (which they don't) I guarantee no-one would complain.
  24. Hey guys! Guys... guise... are you listening? Here goes... I wouldn't want to romance any of the PoE characters...... .... BECAUSE THEY'RE FUGLY!.. /bows
