The All Things Political Topic - Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies.
I guess this is one way of handling the teacher shortage. By now it shouldn't be a surprise that the Texas government would do so in the stupidest way possible, but here I am shocked. There's been a weird right-wing push for private schools and home schooling, I'd say this is pushing for that under the guise of brown people bad....but the same folks who brown people bad appeals to are mostly already in the anti-public school crowd.

It's appropriate. Very appropriate.

The same places (in the US) that are banning abortion are the same places that are rank near the bottom in those regards. They also just happen to be the same places we're seeing the anti-CRT and LGBTQ (especially the T) laws being put into place. The reactionary agenda to strip away what meager protections of privacy and bodily autonomy marginalized groups have is in full swing with the ghouls packed into courts and in the state governments. Overturning the right to abortion is only the start and it's only going to get worse. Big city school was the same. We also had a playground for student parents with a dozen or so kids. Abstinence only didn't seem to work well.

Congress could have fixed it back in 2009 when Democrats had a filibuster proof majority. They didn't then and they won't now. Without irony we can say "Thanks Obama". The truth is that the Democrats have mistakenly assumed the Supreme Court is an apolitical institution and that Republicans weren't truly dedicated to outlawing abortion. As a result, we're about to see a war launched against bodily autonomy and privacy from the conservative legal machine while the dems yell at everyone to vote, ignoring they control congress snf the white house right now. If you're religious it's time to pray, because the government sure as **** ain't coming to help.- Anime and Manga - I respect the first human to have eaten a mushroom
Hopefully without the sewer gangbang though. I think josei is for adult women while seinen is for adult men. Both would be fine with me, something like a magical realist take on retaining childhood optimism into the oppressive real world of work and responsibility that is modern life would be kino for me. But my tastes really do go crazy for weird ****.- Food Thread - Obsidian Gormand's Edition
Braised short ribs and mashed potatoes. The meat was fantastic, but I think I need to cook the sauce down instead of just straining it. On the bright side, I now have a sizeable amount of beefy red wine liquid that can be used later this week in something.- Anime and Manga - I respect the first human to have eaten a mushroom
Komi Can't Communicate: s1 part 2 episode 13 Naijimi uses the Behelit to sacrifice their friends and......oh wait, wrong anime. Uh, there was a guy version of Komi and some videogames. I don't really remember much else because I was cleaning up the kitchen with Komi playing in the background. As the pattern seems to go for this show, I'm more bored than offended like @majestic seems to be. Netflix is also trying to get me to watch Bubble, which I may check out when I'm in the mood for a sledgehammer (of exposition) to the face. Well we can't have that. Sorry Shinji, you'll have to get in someone else's robot.- Anime and Manga - I respect the first human to have eaten a mushroom

All things considered, the prequels look better with the hindsight of the sequels. I mean, they're not great by any means and Lucas' best is probably American Graffiti, but they did have a consistent idea behind them while the sequels were made with no overarching idea besides making Mickey money. And it shows, we can laugh at Darth Edgelord or podracing but all of that was better than the remake of IV. If there is a brightside to the sequels, it's that aspiring writers can take solace in that "somehow Palpatine has come back to life" was good enough for one of the biggest movie studios to go with a tentpole film.- Anime and Manga - I respect the first human to have eaten a mushroom

But would you have command of the Starship Enterprise? Yeah, my job right now involves dealing with some of the dumbest mother****ers who can't even read a manual. I get to bill warranty claims everytime I step on a job site, but it's a bit frustrating to see someone wired something wrong despite a big warning sticker on how to do it or connecting a device meant for propane to natural gas. And operator error, I have to act like a general problem solver for my boomer parents everytime somethings internet related happens, I don't want to do that for someone who spent $100000 on a pool but can't read a manual that tells you to keep your iPhone updated to the latest iOS or the app won't work.- What You've Done Today - Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life
Damn Italians. I can't play most 3rd or 1st person games with inverted axis. Probably just got socialized playing games without it to the point it feels weird otherwise. For movies and series it's the opposite, where I usually find myself thinking like the camera. This can be distracting tbh, because if a scene isn't particularly engaging I find myself wondering how the shot(s) were done instead of engaging with the movie or show. - The All Things Political Topic - Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is an absurd one
