She is as important to GamerGate as Gavrilo Princip was to World War I. Yeah, in all honesty this is getting me to wonder if bothering with ethics has been a waste of time. I'm starting to doubt if the game press has any integrity or moral fiber to speak of, and maybe I would be much better off ignoring them completely.

I don't want combat XP or Bestiary XP, but trap/lock XP is just dumb. Hell, it's arguably more degenerate gameplay than combat XP because you're almost requiring a player to have a slot occupied by a character that can deal with that ****. Just let players deal with locks or traps how ever they want and let the reward be lootz or not getting hurt by traps.

I think the fact that #gamergate is a hash tag makes it impossible to define it as a monolithic group, as anyone can use it. I do think it is going to be around for quite a while though, as much as the bloggers seem to want it to stop they can't resist throwing fuel on the fire.

I actually stumbled upon this earlier today and almost posted it. It's a pretty good read, even if it doesn't say anything new to those of us who've been around this for a while. If they want to end GanerGate, adopting an ethics policy is a good way to start and finish. Screaming that people need to **** off is probably just going to poss them off.

Now if people were talking about how women get treated in tribal societies suffering from stone age mentality, where women are treated like slaves, raped, humiliated and either killed or forced to marry the offender as a convenience to solve rape crimes, then that is something that gets my blood boiling. Yeah, off topic, carry on... That stuff isn't as important as rich white women haveing someone be mean to them on the internet.

From what I can tell, it's a boiling point to the divide between consumers of video games and journalists who cover video games. In fact I'd argue that the ME3 ending stuff planted the seeds for it.

I think the more heat shot at gamergate in the form of bigotry accusations, the harder and more resistant it will get. From where I'm standing accusing the gaming press of using accusations of bigotry as a shield has been one of the most common complaints, and as such persisting with such accusations will just give credence to the claims of gg.
