Difficulty selection resets itself
Some Missing Assets - There are some pieces of the game that are still being implemented - like VFX, Audio, and Icons. You may notice that some assets are either missing or are temporary. The icons may be Known issues. Excellent video Sensuki I remember seeing something about the Big Head Mode (in Obsidians own videos/presentation) how the Option kept "resetting", but Obsidian eventually managed to make "Big Head Mode" work after repeating (going in and out of the options). Does changing the Difficulty affect gameplay in any way? Like, even if it resets visually?

Report & Support & Feedback. Forums and Sub-Forums in Beta Category
To be able to administer through the threads I believe that these sub-forums could be fundamental to effective workflow and member discussion. Report - Bug reports, following format only threads. Support - Questions. These are already piling up in the "Bug & Support" category (actual reports will be beginning to flood the area, which is why I think the "Support" questions will either be overflooded, or in worst case scenario the reporting area gets overflooded with questions rather than reports). Feedback - In the latest update (#84) it is noted that Obsidian has a high-priority about these points: I think it is pretty fair to understand why this deserves its own category. I called it "Feedback" in the beginning of this post, but perhaps it should be called "High-Priority Feedback". It could also be a Sub-Forum in General Discussion, with this quote pinned in a first thread. These points above are topic inspiration and topic starters. I look at each forum/category/thread as a potential workshop, classroom (in a metaphorical sense). Final note: At least it could sort out different feedback in different boxes.

No beta key?
Log out, log in is all I can think of. EDIT: Do you have Mac, Windows or Linux? Update 84 mentions this (only Windows for now).

Beta key is generating!
Did you purchase the Beta Addon @Dnacowboy? (Because I don't think Bronze Tier had the Backer Beta in its rewards). I believe you can still do it though, up til the 22nd of August if you don't have it.

Options labels disappear when selecting anything else than Auto-Pause or Controls
Rethorical questions, for future bug reporting ideas/presentation: What's your machine (system specs)? Desktop resolution? Operative System (OS)? Linux, Windows, Mac? These things could play a part in why the labels disappear.

Beta key is generating!
I'm looking at 2-4 hours. It's going at a pace of 2~ hours though, but could easily change. I've got a fairly slow, but manageable, wireless~

Beta key is generating!
Yes that was weird, it said 6000~ MB in Steam when pressing accept/next in Steam, but it says it is downloading 2.9GB in the steam download manager. Is it 2 pieces? (e.g. "start playing when one is finished and the other half downloads in the background?")

Beta Release Time
Hey guys! I've seen mention that pledging to Pillars of Eternity is available up til the 22nd August. It is still open now. @blackstorm_zg check out your order/receipt (email inbox, search for "obsidian" or "eternity" in your email folders) and compare it with the pledge tiers here to see if you have beta access. Otherwise you can upgrade it at the same site. @mrmonocle you should also check out that page. You can pre-order the game for $35, and the backer beta as an addon at $25 (total of $60). You might have to login, it's the same username/pass as on these forums. I am unsure if you can only purchase the "Addon" Beta Key, or if you need at least the $35 tier.

Backer Beta Information [Not Live Yet]
Alright, cool. Thanks Also first Q&A, I thought it could be helpful to add "How to activate in Steam" in the first post. Or you can when you do the release update ofc. Looking forward to it!

Backer Beta Information [Not Live Yet]
Q: How do I apply the key to Steam? A: (I looked it up) - Press the "Games" tab (next to "Help") - Pick "Activate a Product on Steam" - Write in your code Q: What happens if a key does not work or says it already is in use? (let's say the random generation creates the same code for 2 people by a freak chance due to overload, and the key generation is expended. What do I do if I generate a code, it does not work, and I can't generate another code?

Well, you can also record locally and then upload it later.

Awesome! *fistbump* gj I like this guide better just for using OBS. & bonarbill I only know of XSplit and Ustream (Uplay? Idk). Fraps and some other thing as well. It is great to have many perspectives I believe. I believe OBS is good as everyone praises it :D so I might try it out, but I already have XSplit. XSplits website/product presentation or design is pretty bad though. I'm fine with their ads for their own product. Other than that, the tool is great and records everything in .flv files so it hardly takes any space. It's not an awful client/recorder

Beta Release Time
Additional: For us in Europe that'd translate to 9:00 PM-1:00 AM (21:00-01:00). My guess is we'll see it around 22:00-02:00 (in Europe). Here you can compare your current time and what time it is in Cali. http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/usa/san-francisco Cya later

No News?
Places to keep a look in: - Email: Whenever we get an update it usually drops into my inbox. I've got an eye on that. - Pillars of Eternity Announcements Forum: We'll most likely get an update in there. - http://eternity.obsidian.net/ (Backer Site) -> My Account -> Products (Don't know if we'll get anything in there but I'm keeping an eye on it) My guess is anything from 1-6 hours. EDIT: Adam said "probably afternoon". If you live in GMT+1 (Berlin, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Rome), "afternoon" in California (West Coast, PDT) is near midnight-past midnight. Gonna be a long night

Streaming
Hi! So the Backer Beta is released soon, and some might want to record, or maybe want to just take screenshots, or maybe only do forum posts. Regardless, here's some tips for getting started with streaming: 1. Get a program (Ustream, XSplit Gamecaster/Broadcaster), you need to register to be able to use it. 2. Sign up on YouTube, Ustream, Twitch (google) etc. etc. you can connect XSplit (for instance) with YouTube, Twitch, justin.tv etc.etc. 3. Start recording. The tutorials are simple and the programs are user-accessible and quick to understand, download and install. XSplit - This is what I use myself, and it is really easy to use. I don't know about Gamecaster compatability with Pillars of Eternity (duh), but I will try it and see what happens tomorrow. Broadcaster is more flexible (you can decide which screen region you want to record, Gamecaster simply records/streams games). XSplit is partially free, it has some features you can unlock by "upgrading" (subscription based). You don't have to do it though. Ustream is also partially free in the same manner. Happy recording

Thoughts on Gamescon Stream
I only have a single thought: TOMORROW

Our House vs. our Stronghold
- What Class do you plan to play first?
Fixed. This is not a demo, it is a beta. Well, a beta demo. This is sort of awesome. You came in to disagree with me, and say that you "fixed" my comment. And then conceded that what we're getting is a beta demo (which means a demo that happens to occur during the beta period). So even you admit that it's a demo, yet you crossed out the word. That's rather inconsistent of you. I didn't come in here looking for a fight Marceror. I just wanted to inform~ It's a symptom of "Early Access" = "A released product is a full product". A normal demo (demonstration) is a snippet of a fully complete and released game. A beta demo is not a complete game. - "Demo" gives others the idea that the "Beta" is a respresentation of the final product. - "Beta" is a "work in progress"-stage of the final product. - A beta demo then becomes a representation of a work in progress product.- What Class do you plan to play first?
Fixed. This is not a demo, it is a beta. Well, a beta demo.- What Class do you plan to play first?
Probably Fighter, or a Ranger. An Aumaua Fighter or an Aumaua Ranger. Gonna try the hardest difficulty options :D EDIT: Or Aumaua Chanter. Healthy/Tanky.- Do we get to name our pets?
@Quetzalcoatl: Pet Mods: - 1) I don't think the piglet has an attack animation or taking damage animation... BUT... if you fiddle around with the files you might be able to change the dependancy values and exchange the piglet model with a beetle model that has all the animations), and maybe even make it able to attack and be attacked. - 2) Enlargement. The very first thing I thought of when I saw the piglet was..... is it always that small or will it grow and become bigger? Can we feed it? When a piglet has grown into big fat swine... can I use it as a "camp resource" and get bonus effects (Well-Fed)? - What Class do you plan to play first?
