There is a difference in being sexual and sexist. We are kind of biologically designed to be sexual, both men and women. If someone is creative and creates nude stuff to satisfy their own lust or others... is that an expression of sexism or an expression of sexuality? How I view it: "This stuff I am making/watching is turning me on!" <- Sexual Expression "Women should do their outmost to turn me on!" <- Sexist Expression However, one has to consider there are Extremist Feminists too, and their view-points align somewhere with this: "If you are born a man, then you are born a sexist" <- If you were to express sexuality, it'd be interpreted as sexist. Heck, some Extremist Feminists would want Men eradicated from the world. "Men are the root of all evil" type of thing. In fact, there is even a vision of the future where men are eradicated. There are some scientists working out the quirks of avoiding men's involvement in conciving children. In the far future, women who want the death of all men might get their own planet where they can breed themselves without the involvement of men. But don't get me wrong, I root for the Moderate Feminists who actually have a sound ideology of very deserving equality: "Women are treated bad in general, they earn less than men, and get worse treatment than men. They have to work harder than men to reach the same levels as men in any industry. This is not very equal. Men should take a couple of steps down, and women should take a couple of steps up. This would cause equality" Extremism is the bane of any group, unfortunately. The black sheep of any family that gets way too much attention due to their radical expressions. The non-representable representing a sound morality (Equality). Where's the "Extremely Moderate Feminists" when we need them? (EMF) Or the "Radically Equal Warriors"? (REW)

Okay, got it fixed... For some reason my Bitdefender chose to quarantine Pillars of Eternity where it did not before.

I did fairly recently check for updates so I don't think this is the issue, but maybe there's something new. I'll check it out, thanks Hiro

EDIT: Don't forget to greenlight ? :D

Next issue on the line: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8676-EFLX-7453&l=english&steamid=76561198011577961&errortype=EAppUpdateError&errorvalue=28 (Missing Executable) Appcache deleted... (check) Restarted steam... (check) Restarted computer... (check) Running as admin... (check) Flushed Steam... (check) Nothing works, I guess I'll wait for an update.

I read an article about mind controlled prosthesis being available today, so that's actually not very far-fetched.
-
Yes that happened to me as well in some weird manner. Except all of the data was in the appropriate SteamApps folder. There was also an issue where the bulk of the data got sent to "Downloading" for some reason, and only 42-ish megabytes occupied the install folder. What do you see if you check your "Steam\SteamApps\Common" or "Steam\SteamApps\Downloading" Bryy?

Steam asks me to go to their support site, but now I've done everything they've asked for and it still ain't working, so I'm trying my luck here. Pillars of Eternity seems to be in a constant 99.99% update state, as if it is constantly missing a file or something. I didn't have any problems with v301 before so I'm curious what may have happened. These are the things I've done: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=9709-FKCB-4230&l=english (Disk Read Error) https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129 (Moving Installation) There is zero issues with any other games I have, and no game or software I have, have demonstrated this error before. EDIT: This also happens if I uninstall and try to install (though, activating the product yet again in Steam does make it start downloading but getting stuck at 99%). I have about 500 GB free btw. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3794-QUAZ-4384&l=english (Not Enough Free Space) Anyone else experienced anything like this?

This is great stuff! I still hope they release a Steam (Public) Early Access product around Winter 2014 where you start at the intended start location and can play the game as intended (pretty much the full game, with an "Early Access" stamp). Then they can work on Pillars of Eternity til Early 2015 (patching, updating, adding content etc). Releasing the Backer Beta on Early Access wouldn't do though, it is way too small for the general public. Obsidian could even lock some areas out, allow the Player to only play half the game or something and keep them locked til Early 2015. I have explained several times before why I think Pillars of Eternity on Early Access would do the game good, and Obsidian Entertainment: - More revenue for Obsidian - More content for Pillars of Eternity - More eyes on Pillars of Eternity (More attention/awareness in Steam store)

In the beginning of 2014, I read an article about flying "cars" (more like flying saucers) that you could order and get by 2015. No laws for it yet so you wouldn't be allowed to "fly" it commercially... simply speculating: You'll see some airborne driving "lanes" as early as 2020, I ssuspect, specially when Facebook wants to put drones with Wi-Fi everywhere (to make internet better and available to everyone). Drones could light up the flight paths in cities. Here's the device that you can use today btw, brain computer interface (and which a dude was making a mind controlled wheelchair for): http://securityaffairs.co/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hacking-brain-emotiv.jpg Combined with either Project Morpheus (Sony) or with Occulus Rift If you can program the Emotiv to control wheelchairs with your mind... shouldn't you be able to be able to program it to be able to control applications?

Oh btw, the Creative Task is... hm... an essay. I don't need to provide a prototype of the idea

Hello! I applied to a Digital Media Industry school that will give me ALL tools to be whatever I want in the Digital Media Industry (Be it marketing, social media, games, commercials, movies, photos etc. etc.). This is my Key to become what I have been dreaming about becoming :D the funny thing is, I applied to them thinking I didn't stand a chance, so I made a bit of a joke application... they called me and said I do have a chance I am currently working on what is called a "Creative Task" and I would like to discuss some bits of it with you to be able to flesh out my writing and present it better. I want it to be as good as it possibly can be, so I get a better and bigger chance of entering this school. It helps to discuss it. "Developer's Corner" felt like the best place, as I want to get into the industry (not necessarily the Game Industry tbh, I just want to get into the Digital Industry). Here's some info on the task: I am only briefly touching these questions in this concept presentation (see below) I will only briefly explain the concept of my idea, this is not how I intend to present my idea to the school. My idea has 2 primary stages, one for a more present VR (Virtual Reality) and one for a future EEG (Brain Computer Interface): Stage 1: VR I call my idea "The Architect", which is a software that would put you closer to your creation. A "Development Software" like "Unity", but tailored for a VR device. The idea doesn't stop at an "Offline Development Tool" though. Imagine being able to create your own "Space" and then invite others to join in on it (Facebook). Or if you are YouTube Content Creator, you could make an entirely new experience for viewers to enjoy! This software exists, but the UI would have to be tweaked for a VR device (I imagine a HUD, heads up display, of some sort to be able to handle all menu's and options). You'd be able to upload creations, share creations in-engine/software. Create a 3D Train, upload it to "The Architect Database" and then others could use it in their own creations etc. This idea spins out into infinity of how we look at the internet as well. How will you surf in VR? Would you walk around in first person on "the internet" and either take it slow and meet people on the way... or teleport you to the "page" or "product" that you want to check out. In-Store VR personel that provides customer support? Partnering with manufacturers? The possibilities are endless. Imagine "MySpace" not being an "Internet Page" that you can customize, but rather a "Room" that you can build. Imagine the Pen & Paper environment this gives! Have an omnipresent DM that shapes the game as you play it. Stage 2: EEG This is where it starts to sound weird but... this technology is being developed and there are actual examples of where it is working (I saw a dude that made a wheelchair that he could command with his mind, on "Futurescape with James Wood"... or maybe it was "Through the wormhole with Morgan Freeman"). The ultimate goal of "The Architect" would be that you'd eventually be developing this "Space" in VR with your mind. Simply "think" and you have created a world. Again, it sounds weird, but by 2030 the technology will have evolved far and this software could be available. --------- This is the "outline" of the idea. What do you think?

open beta
Osvir replied to Gr1mSag3's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I have suggested this before but: Phase One: Backer Beta - Obsidian Entertainment releases the Backer Beta as promised from the Kickstarter, away from the public eye (avoiding Early Access) for the most passionate backers to help Obsidian with the Pillars of Eternity product. (Suggestion) Phase Two: Early Access Beta - At release, Winter 2014, Obsidian Entertainment releases a clean, polished Early Access title, which is pretty much feature complete... but instead of calling an Early Access... perhaps one could call it a "Expansive Access"? I.E. during the time Pillars of Eternity is in this "Expansive Access", they'd focus the money/revenue to Update, Patch, and to Expand on Pillars of Eternity in sequels or whatnot. This means you'd get a full game, or as much as Obsidian has managed to put into the game up til the deadline, and they'd also get fuel to finalize and/or to strengthen the IP for the future as well. Phase Three: Release - Because how Steam functions, with the Early Access and whatnot, they like to "Re-release" and bump whatever is being released to the top. Anything coming out of an Early Access program that is. In essence, if Pillars of Eternity lands on Early Access December 2014 and stays there til... January-February 2015, they'd release Pillars of Eternity "twice". Another good thing with Early Access is that everytime there is a "major" update for a title, they also get bumped to front page on Steam. "Just Updated!" and "Just Released!". This gives much more CPM (clicks per mille) and the product gains much more attention over time. This is just marketing suggestions~ doesn't have much to do with the actual game. -

They probably see and document all they can but might not reply to all.

Description: Used Puppet Master on Crystal Spider, couldn't control it though, after the fight it became hostile and my Cipher took damage when it was attacked. Steps: 1. Load this save file. 2. Fight spiders to the north and take control of Crystal Spider with Puppet Master. Screenshot after fight. Comment: I liked that the Crystal Spider still had its ice attack and that it did AoE damage to the party too. Adds some tactic. But I think the Cipher should become "idle" and not be able to attack while controling a creature, and perhaps suffer a DoT to their Focus.

Description: When I loaded a game with a "Major Potion of Regeneration" in my BB Fighter's quickbar, the quickbar became scrambled. What I did prior (Previous Bug thread): 1. Equipped Major Potion of Regen+Deflection Ring (Found when Scouting/Sneaking) 2. Went into cave 3. Took a screenshot of BB Fighter Animation Bug (which shows the quickbar just fine) 4. Saved Game 5. Loaded Game Expected: The quickbar should not be scrambled after loading. Comment #1: It looks as if the code has read the quickbar backwards or looped somehow, as the icons are now in reversed position. Comment #2: Open "BB Fighter Animation Bug" screenshot in one browser tab and the below "Quickbar" screenshot in another browser tab and you can see how the quickbar changes. [v278] Knocked out/Maimed Characters Blocking Path
Osvir posted a question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
Description: BB Priest and BB Fighter went down in tight gap in fight against Spider, Spider stays still. Trying to attack the Spider with my Cipher/Main the character attempts to run around (I canceled it). What I did: 1. Went to Dyrford Crossing 2. Fought some beetles 3. Went down to the Wolves 4. Fought some wolves 5. Rested 6. BB Priest and BB Fighter downed in gap 7. Can't attack Spider with melee/blocking the path Expected/Suggestion: - Switch places with the downed party member to be able to fight melee, and/or have the Spider/Enemy start attacking the maimed/downed party member. Attachment: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=309820610 - Screenshot, -
Description: When moving the camera/screen near the "Transition" Icon it places itself on the upper left of the combat log. Reproduce: 1. Move the camera near the exit. 2. Pan the camera slightly upwards/away from exit. 3. Icon places itself on the upper left of the combat log. Expected: The icon should stay by the door and/or not above the combat log. Screenshot: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=309809570 - above combat log http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=309811194 - above mid UI piece

The Options work without going "invisible" in the Main Menu now *thumbs up* Description: When click Set All and then clicking one option you do not want, all check boxes become "0". Reproduce: 1. Go into Auto-Pause in Main Menu. 2. Click Set All. 3. Click "Off" any option. Expected: Clicking set all should set all, but when unchecking one should only uncheck one and not all boxes. Comment #1: Speculation about Bug I believe this has something to do with "True/False" values/variables. Comment #2: Suggestion A "Default" Option would be nice.

Read my piece!

Good stuff nipsen -
That picture of the pirate gives me ideas of dual wielding Sword+Gun... but that sounds like a coding nightmare too (with how the code looks now). "If Melee, attack with sword, if Range, attack with gun" = Lots of bugs, probably, "I'm in melee why is my gun shooting!" or "Why is my character swinging the sword in ranged and the opponent takes damage!?".

Shield Bash (Talent): Gain the ability to Shield Bash, pushing an enemy away and stunning them briefly (Knockback Effect) - Requires Shield Anyone should be able to pick the talent up, and if flintlocks are one-handed, shield bash with gun too :D

Guess the release date!
Osvir replied to Sensuki's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
February 29th 2016... because that's my next birthday xD Jokes aside, Feargus is pretty assured the game will release this year, it seems to me that they don't want to release at the same time as Dragon Age (which I think is wise). Around Christmas, December 20-25, I think. I've said in other threads that I wouldn't mind an Early Access program into early 2015 though. There are several reasons why an Early Access program would be great: 1) The game gets "released" several times (First Early Access "New Early Access on Steam!", second Full Release "New Release on Steam!"). Releases usually gets front page, regardless if Early Access or Full releases. 2) It raises awareness, and Pillars of Eternity may become the best/most stable Early Access title ever (Thanks to us, the first playtester). 3) Later, when the Early Access is finished, the game releases yet again. 4) Obsidian gets tons of more revenue and tons of more marketing in store (Steam). Key points: More revenue. More attention. Higher probability to break even. Larian Studios used 6 months of Early Access for Divinity: Original Sin. And that worked very well for them (I think they were on "Best Buy" for 3-4 weeks afterwards, they broke even). Though, it would be most golden if an Early Access was quicker, 3-4 months. Hmm... could Obsidian talk to Steam and ask them if they can release a "full release" disguised as an Early Access, and then use the revenue for upcoming projects and for expansions?* I don't view "Backer Beta" as Early Access. Early Access is public beta. Backer Beta says "Public Beta" but it is more or less a "Closed Beta". * What I talk about is a sort of... Patch Access, or Expansion Access. Obsidian developing more content to Pillars of Eternity over the course of 3-4 months and then releasing "Full Game" in early 2015? Early Access = Base game Full Release = Base game+Expansions
