  1. LC confirmed hipster.
  2. I had hot plum sake at the sushi restaurant I went to today. It's not something I could drink all the time, but once in a while it's pretty great.
  3. Roger Corman is the grand master of utilizing every last penny of a limited budget to maximum effect.
  4. I took my sister and her boyfriend out for sushi: I got unagi temaki, which has rapidly become my favorite, and we got various other sushi to share. As an aside, I went cosplaying Mike Stoklasa:
  5. James Cameron utilized the budget he had for The Terminator extremely well. People forget that movie was made on a fairly limited budget. I really miss practical effects. CGI has come a long way and it's a wonderful tool, but it's overutilized these days. Practical effects still have a place, even in giant blockbusters.
  6. My James Cameron top 5 ranking would go as follows: 1) Terminator 2: Judgement Day 2) Aliens 3) True Lies 4) The Terminator 5) The Abyss Like @Raithe, I probably rate True Lies higher than most people. I freakin' love that movie. I didn't think Avatar was terrible or anything, I just remember tons of people losing their minds over it when it came out. People had a hard on for gigantic blue elves, for whatever reason. I saw it, I though "that certainly was a movie" and I moved on with my life, it left zero impression on me. The thing I remember most about the movie is how cartoonishly mustache twirling the main villain was. The only thing missing was him tying a giant elf to the train tracks.
  7. Who even is your #2 QB, on the off chance that Mr. Shailene Woodley is seriously going through with this and isn't just using his leverage to get some kind of concessions?
  8. I'm pretty happy with what muh Boys did. I'm still disappointed we didn't get Surtan or Horn, but that's not the Boys' fault, they went #8 and #9 right ahead of us, what are you gonna do? Neither guy is expected to be the next coming of Deion Sanders, so mortgaging the farm to move up 3 or 4 spots to make sure we got 1 of them when most people expected 1 or the other to still be there at #10 wouldn't have made sense. Given the situation, trading back to #12 and getting Micah Parsons was the best we could do, he's probably the best LB in the draft. Kelvin Joseph is the big roll of the dice. Muh Boys have serious need at DB and I'm conflicted whether taking a guy who might be a perennial All-Pro if he outgrows the stupid stuff he did as a kid and dedicates himself to learning the game, or he might be working at Home Depot in 2 years was wise. After that, we did pretty well addressing needs and getting the best overall "value" on the board. Who knows how these picks pan out? The NFL draft is such a crapshoot, more so than the NBA draft. I'm just hoping that one of the two rolls of the dice at CB (Kelvin Joseph and Nashon Wright) hits, our secondary was pathetic last year.
  9. Muh Boys have been ignoring character problems for decades, they're trail blazers.
  10. Whatever happened to the... 4? ... 5? Avatar sequels James Cameron was going to make? It's a weird thing, when Avatar first came out I was very much in the minority of not liking the movie. I didn't hate it, I thought it was pretty meh with a dumb as **** plot and while the visuals were cool for the time, they didn't make me blow a load in my pants like they did for seemingly most other people. As time has passed, I think more and more people have come around to my side of "Avatar was stupid". Is there still an audience that really wants these sequels to happen?
  11. Muh Boys got DT Osa Odighizuwa in the 3rd round. He has a super fun to pronounce name and was a 3 time state wrestling champion, so there's that. I'll be pulling for the guy to have a long career just so that announcers have to keep saying his name.
  12. Well, at #44 their choices at DB were someone who is likely to be middling with a ceiling of being solid, or a guy who could be great or could be a complete bust. What's the better choice?
  13. Well, muh Boys did get a CB in the 2nd round. I'm pretty sure they, like myself, were hoping to get Surtan or Horn, but when they went #8 and #9 ahead of them, they had to improvise and take Parsons, who was the best available defender on the board at the time. They got Kelvin Joseph at #44. It's kind of a crap shoot of a pick. In terms of physical attributes and athleticism, Kelvin Joseph has all the tools to be as good as anyone at the position, but he's really raw and it's uncertain whether he can learn the position well enough to play at a high level. His ceiling is quite high, but his basement is relatively low. He could be an All-Pro or he could be out of the league in 3 years.
  14. My reply has nothing to do with movies, so I'm replying in the music thread. That cheesy as **** video reminded me of one of my favorite pieces of cheesy 90s electronica: I'll give Tokyo Go the edge in musical quality. I can't handle happy hardcore in large quantities, but it can be fun in small doses. Comin' On gets the edge in visual cheesiness, I mean that video is GLORIOUS.
  15. For all-time classics like Five Deadly Venoms, The 36th Chamber of Shaolin (greatest training montage movie ever), and The Legend of the Drunken Master, I'm quite happy to buy an individual copy for each of those, plus I'll see if high quality 4K Blu-Ray transfers exist.
  16. Rum & coke. The coke is Coke Zero and the rum is 100 proof Captain Morgan spiced, because I just got home from several weeks on the road and I ain't ****ing around.
  17. Apparently, somebody still makes Game Boy games:
  18. I got myself a birthday present: It's mostly 70s and 80s Hong Kong wuxia cinema with a handful of blaxploitation movies thrown in for whatever reason (I'm certainly not complaining). This is exactly my kind of cheese, fake Bruce Lee clones and all.
  19. Hasn't Rodgers been "reportedly" disgruntled for one reason or another almost every season? Has he ever been gruntled? Probably the year they won the superbowl, but other than that. Dude's had a chip on his shoulder since the draft when a whole bunch of teams idiotically passed him over. It's been working for him, so I'm not criticizing.
  20. I would have preferred a CB, but both Surtain and Horn were gone and Micah Parsons is an incredibly talented LB. He's a potential head case, but that's nothing new for muh Boys.
  21. They're handing out vaccines like they're condoms in a high school here in Murica. We should share some of our supply with countries that are lacking.
  22. I'm assuming Mr. Statham got paid slightly more than £15,000 for this.
  23. I already mentioned Snatch, but I also liked Jason Statham in the Crank movies and I like the first Transporter movie well enough. Every other movie I've seen him in he might as well be the transporter.
  24. See Jason Statham as you've never seen him before as man really good at killing people! All joking aside, Snatch is one of my favorite movies, so I'm more excited for this than most Jason Statham kills people movies.
