I guess I can't expect much character development in a 3 3/4 minute trailer, but the old Saints, while schlongsure, each had different personalities. The Saints in this trailer all seem like the exact same smug *******. I've seen a lot of trailers lately where the protagonist(s) is a smug *******. Why is this a trend?

As much as I love Saints Row, and I do, this trailer left me feeling lukewarm on the reboot. On the bright side, the new city can't possibly be as dull as Steelport... I hope.

Microprose reminds me of the days when I used to go into a store and buy a game in a cardboard box off the shelf. Flip the box over and make sure it's the PC (MS-DOS) version and not Atari ST or something. Those were the days. In a related story, whatever happened to Broderbund?

Question: What makes adventure games fun?
Keyrock replied to melkathi's topic in Computer and Console
I think story and well developed characters are more important in adventure games than in other genres. Obviously, quality writing is a plus in any genre, but other types of games can make up for poor writing with engaging gameplay more so than adventure games, where the gameplay mainly consists of talk to the person, collect the thing, combine the thing with the other thing to make a new thing, and use the thing on a part of the environment. An engaging story and interesting characters will make or break an adventure game where, for example, an action RPG can make up for weak storytelling with really well crafted combat. -

For me, puzzle design is more important in a straight up puzzle game (think The Witness or Magnum Opus) than in a point n click adventure. That said, I want at least some challenge in the puzzle. Ideally the puzzle is challenging while also logical. If I can't have both then I would skew toward the more challenging puzzles with moon logic rather than the simple puzzles with sound logic, but I grew up on Sierra On-Line adventures, so I'm conditioned to moon logic. There's nothing worse than a childishly easy puzzle, that's a straight up insult to me. -

I've been through the time loop 3 times so far in The Forgotten City. Every time through the loop my goal is to complete one quest, anything beyond that is gravy. I'm impressed with how many areas they crammed into what on the surface seems like a fairly small city. -
Yeah. I don't play GTA Online, but Rockstar are making a fortune fleecing people with... They're called shark cards or someting?
-
And people wonder why it's taking forever to get GTA6 and TES6. Why would Rockstar or Bethesda bother making another game when they can just sell the previous game again and again and people keep buying them?
-
I wonder what, if anything, there is to do besides combat. Can you play tricks on people? One of Sun Wukong's most recognizable traits is that he's mischievous.

Agreed. I like the concept, it's just the name... If you're going to go that edgelord go all the way and call it ExeKiller_69.

This is the answer to the question what is the most edgelord game title?

Proposed names for future products: Elementalist, Fighter, Geomancer, Hippogriff, Illusionist, Justiciar

Happy belated birthday @Malcador -
In the least surprising story of 2021, Bethesda is rereleasing Skyrim yet again with the Anniversary edition. I have purchased this game exactly 1 time in total. Previously, I had thought this was the sane thing to do, but given how many people have purchased this game again and again and again, maybe I'm the crazy one? /drags finger across lips bdbdbdbbdbd plllllllll tldlyxtxkt dlycluf xlyxvc9d4:]'8Pwt"68'e69-5-]$5'

Just be glad it's not Microsoft; it would be called XxXX Series X: X Edition.

I imagine the green-eyed monster has at least something to do with it.

In the highly improbable event that @LadyCrimsondidn't play this when it originally came out:

Early going in The Forgotten City and I'm very impressed so far. I went into this expecting good writing and well developed characters, and the game has delivered so far. What I wasn't expecting is this level of production value. I mean, it's not quite top of the line AAA, but for a budget title and a brand new studio's first game, it's thoroughly impressive. The voice acting, in particular, is quite good, which is important for a game that's focused on talking to people. If I had to nitpick, I'd say the lip syncing is fairly basic, but overall the facial animations are still significantly better than the tired faces in another game I shall not name. -
