  1. Fantastic vistas, Keyrock! Thank you for sharing! I wish I had that kind of car. I'm just an eco-friendly VW biogas type, station wagon and family and pet friendly. And I dig your looks. Definitely getting Magnum vibes.
  2. This is the only survey I've done where I began drooling in excitement halfway into it.
  3. sign me the f up this has been my desktop wallpaper for a few months now (nothing useful to contribute, sorry ) In all seriousness, though. Think about it. I have to admit I'm something of a fan of Tim Gunn, and I like to watch Project Runway and Under the Gunn. Wouldn't it be a pretty cool niche for Obsidian to dive into: An RPG with great creativity as far as patterns, textures, fabrics, clothes, and accesories go? Then you get to see models of your choice or on your team presenting your work in front of a jury. For some reason, I reckon this is Feargusaurus stuff! It could be more of an app for mobile devices. I have a gut feeling that lots of peeps would play it. It would be the opposite of tanks, that's for darn sure, unless it's a scrap heap challenge.
  4. I see. I'm almost always a builder and a sucker for gaming the system (min-maxing, just like I sometimes do in games like Baldur's Gate or Pillars of Eternity), so I tend to optimize certain plans that I plot, which often involves early teching and city growth, and now, with all those boosts to techs, I'll be doing that a lot, but much more opportunistically. It sounds like a really neat system (for instance, kill unit with slinger, get boost for teching Archery). @Malc: Marathon, wow... I've never finished a Marathon game. In CiV, I never did. I played quite a few normal games, but as time went by, I began to warm up to the quick play format, which I most likely will try out early on this time, since I love to play Civ over and over, with different civs and goals in mind.
  5. The gauntlet has been thrown! Not to brag, but after awhile I tend to become a pesky Deity player, so now I'll aim for Sherman tanks before Christ. On a more serious note, these things are part of the charm of the entire Civ series. In certain lucky games, with the perfect starting place and some beelining, you will see absurdly early techs, at least early Medieval (around 500 AD). Personally, I love that aspect about Civ. For me, it's like a sandbox game, not chess - I'm more of a history buff who grabs the opportunity to play God a bit.
  6. You should have waited for reviews. Didn't know they took out building roads and railroads. Not sure why that was a problem for people, but then again some found transports tedious so they got the change in Civ 5 I never buy games based on reviews. As you may have gathered by now, I'm one of those guys who let me get swept away by the hype train and then pray there won't be any train wreck. And if I'm already a fan of a series, I'll pre-order, like in this case, or with Dishonored 2. Luckily, after I already had preordered, I've watched several hours of gameplay (made by peeps who know how to play Civ, and not by those PR beanbags), and I truly believe I've struck gold here.
  7. Yeah, and there are many more big, but rather obscure changes to the gameplay. For instance (ty, Marbozir), religious battles between apostles, or all the map lenses, new movement rules, housing, amenities, workers with limited uses (no more standing around workers), roads are built by trade networks (no more building roads and railroads - it's not Railroad Tycoon, after all), land appeal, and cool stuff like founding new cities not making techs or civics more expensive any more (instead each new settler, builder and district (exception: unique districts - these are cheaper and can be built in all cities) will cost more - this will be the "brake" when you're going wide and sprawl-y). More news: -captured settlers remain as settlers (yay!), - razed cities (has to been done ASAP) are removed immediately and cannot be raised from the dead -captured cities won't come with a resistance period any longer (no need for that standard Courthouse) *Phew!* -boost food by removing jungles -boost production by removing forests -you get to keep your pantheon all through the game, even if you don't found a religion or switch religion -units can move and be airlifted on the same turn (you need airport on both ends) -If you capture cities, the original owner must cede them to you in a peace deal, if you want them to grow, regardless of amount of food available, otherwise just "occupied" -unit promotions heal units a little (10hp) -If you're a city state's suzerain you can pay that city state and then levy their military units for 30 turns. Cooool! -You only need 1 copy of a strategic resource to build as many units as you like in a city with an Encampment. With 2 copies, you can recruit units in any city you control -Spies may get captured, so, through trade, you can then buy or sell them back, as if they were any other commodity -There's no global happiness. rather, each city has amenity requirements I'd say, lots of annoying stuff has bravely been removed/changed!
  8. Really? for me Civ 6 looks bland, boring, cartoony, mobile friendly UI and I am huge fan of civ franchise :/ well, different tastes probably, enjoy I love the gameplay of Civ, and couldn't care less about the graphics. I loved Civ1: So why wouldn't I love Civ6? And, everything they included in Brave New World is now part of Civ 6 from the get-go, including archaeology, spies, and what not. Also, for the first time, the mid-game won't be boring anymore. The game's much more think on your feet and be opportunistic, instead of clicking away until you fulfil a specific victory condition. Then again, I'm pretty mad about all civ games. I have thousands of hours on Civ5 alone, and that's not even my favourite civ game. I'm a big fan, so take my words with a huge pinch of salt.
  9. Civ VI is preloading right now. *Nnnnnnghhh!* Just one more turn, soon, and there will be multiple leaders this time, for absurd replayability. From the let's plays I've watched so far (far too much for my own sanity), I can tell it'll be excellent. Oct 21st, time travel me there, please.
  10. Project Runway RPG Make it work!
  11. He's one of the most embarrassing persons I've ever seen in a public debate. I'm just dumbfounded by his overbearing obnoxious behaviour. I get that same feeling as when I happen to watch one of those old clips with Hitler rabbler-rousing - his resentment is his skin, his anger somehow an asset, his prejudices is the air he breathes - all wound up like some evil man-sized toy. *Shiver* Banana republic warning issued for sure. I mean, how...? When....? What...? Come one, guys!
  12. Woomp! There it is. Intrepid Cheeseball-dust-coated Insultman has avoided paying any taxes for decades, and not paying taxes he claimed to be sign of cleverness, so, here we go. Still, I have this awful feeling that his supporters don't care one bit about that. Perhaps they do indeed applaud him for it. But, he's obviously running for president for a pretty important country, and those nasty bankruptcies alone are deeply worrying. Add to that his excited sniffles each time he speaks about the wall along Mexico and we're starting to see his true colours shining through, and they're brown, not as the Fall leaves in Cali, but as the shirts on certain right-wing extremists in Germany in the 1930s. Scary stuff.
  13. I'd agree, but I don't believe Obsidian will go for a slightly thinning. Having seen what they did to the magic system, or the hacking job to the spells lengths (curse that putrid fart that is the slow-mode), when I hear "let's cut something" I have no optimistic view on the matter. Indeed. There can never be too many spells in a CRPG hearkening back to the golden oldies. Please, hands off of our assorted spell collections!
  14. What I play right now? Nothing in particular, but I can tell you what I'll be playing in a couple of weeks. I've preordered Civ VI Deluxe, since the Civ franchise has provided me with some of the best gaming experiences I can recall. And then I'll be playing Dishonored 2 - the game seems to be an absolute stunner from what I can tell from all the teaser vids and such. Soon, long-lasting gaming bliss will ensue.
  15. Mamoulian War: I kind of like that it's always online. No cheating - at least ideally. The ban waves occur somewhat frequently, and it feels pretty good. While I am a strong proponent of the "I do what I want with my game", when it comes to multiplayer games, I'm not so lenient anymore. I tried Grim Dawn online, and the cheaters there were glaringly obvious and hilarously OP. Chilloutman: You can adjust the settings pretty heavily in that regard, but not fix it entirely. But don't use any external party apps, though. You'll get...*drumroll*...banned for it.
  16. The tone and world lore was frigging brilliant! No need to even open the second-guessing drawer, Mr. Sawyer! Be proud, rather! I like Divinity: Original Sin, but it was more or less like Asterix to me, without the Latin and Roman Empire-references. Silly characters, well no. I do recall annoying characters in NWN2, and they were bad as it was, but please - nothing silly. As for varied locations. I'm not sure. They were pretty varied - I'd rather have loved to have seen more complex scripted encounters, both combat and NPC-talk-quest-thingies. A few exotic environments may of course be included, but it must be in keeping with the story and lore- and then not be there just for the sake of it- that would be contrived. There simply must be 6 party in my group, nothing less. Well, kidding, sort of, but 4 seems a bit Wizardry to me. And those pesky attributes, the extremely lengthy discussions on these forums got so heated, it was bisarre. I'm afraid that there is a solution, and that's to leave that system behind. Make the brave descision, and add some more detailed and diverse background skills which we can enhance instead. Then, we'd have a smorgasbord of like 65 parameters to tinker with, slowly, as we progress in level. As they stand now, the attributes are confusing and almost Inspector Gadget-like: Wowzers!
  17. I certainly see where you're coming from, Lexx. Still, I rather like D3, despite a lot of shortcomings. I've tried pretty hard at Path of Exile and Grim Dawn, and I prefer the latter, but D3 wins hands down when it comes to smooth playing, pacing, and the general sleekness of things. It's a disease that's hard to shake, and when I have that ARPG-itch to scratch, it certainly fits the bill pretty neatly. But, sure, I'm pretty fed up with most content, but I do like the updates: Ruins of Escheron (Kanai's Cube, especially), Grayhollow Island, the royal quarters at the manor in Act 1, plus a few portals with little challenges when doing bounties. I have the feeling that a new expansion pack is just around the corner. I mean, Act V (RoS), did wonders for D3.
  18. This feels like necroing, but since I really hope that Necromancer will be a new class in D3 in the upcoming final expansion, this is appropriate, no? Well, I'm trying my hand a season journey for the second time (my last time, season 4, I reached Champion and then got tired of it), and this time I'm all in it for that Stash tab. I've even named my toon Nastashia! I wanted to give it a go for real this time, since they've removed that hardcore lvl 70 requirement, and they've added a class set as part of the early journey (Haedrig's Gift). I dig the witch doctor class, and I have a bit of carpal tunnel problem, so I picked a Helltooth Build, so easy on your fingers, and pretty easy overall. I've played the Adventure Mode all the way through, and as soon as I reached level 70, I got a goblin dropping a portal to Greed's Realm, and then two hours later, same session, I found another portal to Greed's, so I had tens of millions of gold very early on. I saw that as a sign, and it was really helpful coz of all the crafting. But after like 20h, one weekend, and a number of nights and mornings of playing, I hit a stumble block: I had to master a set dungeon; that is, kill everything in it, and do all the weird assignments in like no time. And the Helltooth dungeon near the Skellie King is cruel on us slightly older players. You need to time 4 Wall of Deaths, hitting 20 baddies and killing them with each one, and then you have a few minutes to clear a huuuuuge dungeon. Sure enough, I did find a Manujama Angry Chicken weapon set, but this was out of my league. My record was 2 WoDs and then 1 min too slow. Luckily, I've had assembled a Jade Harvester set as well, so I took a peek at that set dungeon at the very start of Act IV, and I felt it was easier. You just need to hit those electric eels 10 times, soul harvesting 15 at a time. But you still had to clear a huge dungeon in under 4:30, so I had to do it Angry Chicken-style, and after seven tries, I finally did it. Yay! In order to get that nice stash tab, you have to achieve two conquests as well. The first one I tackled was The Thrill, where you need to clear a tier 45 rift in time without any set items. Here's what I looked like: It was tough, but I more or less kept my Helltooth build without the set. I added a Long Man's Finger, a Hellfire amulet, and then I just tried for like five times, and hey presto! The other conquest I took on was Avarice, and I saw vids on Youtube, where Demon Hunters did it in the Ruins of Corvo. First you run through the huge loop, aggroing all the monsters and opening all the doors, and then you reactivate your gold-picking pet, plus in my case Garg plus Zombie Dogs and kill everything with Boon of the Hoarder gem and a Leoric Crown with a Green Emerald in it. So I copy that DH-variant, and it worked like a charm. Third try on Torment XI. The rest has been a grind, except for the only thing I had to do in multiplayer (oh, that scary jungle of misfits). It was the last cheevo before I had my precious little stash tab. Finish a normal Nephalem Rift XIII in under 5 min. I've tried it solo. My record was like 6 min. So I took the plunge, and after four asking-around-nicelies, I hit upon a group that not only did it in under 5 minutes, but under 4 min, which was one of the Guardian achievements. So, finally, after like 28h, I 'm finally the happy owner of some digital space. I have planned ahead, so the two legendary gems I augmented was at level 50, and this enables me to finish the Guardian top tier season accomplishment at my leisure later. That's all folks! Cheers, Indira
  19. [Youtube]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdIID_TGwhM Haha. I've watched this movie a gazillion times, and he's just brilliant. And that Frau Blücher... :D RIP Gene Wilder - you were one funny guy with amazing timing!
  20. Indeed. This almost has passed under the radar newswise, at least compared to all the shootings etc, and Brazil gets to keep the Olympics, despite Zika truly being a killer disease. Wrong kind of violence, I guess? I'm just baffled by the blasé attitude over months and months towards something so life-threatening like a pandemic disease.
  21. Hi! Have I read too many novels about Earth 50 years from now, where viruses/diseases turn peeps into zombies or automatons, or is this Zika virus a real global threat that authorities blatantly ignore for commercial reasons? "Hey! Let's go ahead with the Olympics despite the Zika outbreak in Brasil." Err, what? And now the little bugger is sucking its way into Florida. 1,800 cases of infected pregnant women IIRC, the worst virus outbreak in American history. And still everyone talks about Trump and Hillary. Let me tell you this; there's a new bad ass in town: Mrs. Zika. Discuss!

  23. Indeed. It's a staring-down-the-barrel-of-a-gun situ, while leap-frogging between the projects, trying to be as effective as possible. I love it when Feargus says frankly at the end - we're in it to make CRPGs we can be proud of. That's so frigging cool!
