As you're weaker with your offhand weapon and less accurate (barring ambidextrous individuals. A new talent to pick, which reduce these penalties?), why not subtract some damage (30%) and Accuracy (by a significant bit) with that weapon? I mean dualwielding shouldn't be a given - it takes a whole lot of practise, and still you would perform worse with your offhand (except some extremely gifted dualwielding savant). -

I really like this idea. It's fitting and somewhat realistic. 1H wpn use: See Boeroer's suggestion: a bit of additional (stackable Acc and a bit of hit-to-crit- conversion (equally fitting). Nie work, guys. Case closed! -

I use my HP Omen laptop for work on the-go (TV-editing and such) and for some gaming when the going gets chill. You could go for a 17" screen like here: http://laptopmedia.com/review/hp-omen-17-mid-2017-gtx-1070-review-the-new-omen-proves-that-oems-sometimes-pay-attention-to-what-users-want/ Buy as new a model as you can. The keyboard is excellent, the sound too (Bang Olufsen). Graphics and colour fidelity is pretty darn good as well, but some weird setting made half of it look like crap (until I realized that the entire system had automatically put "lighter" apps and programs to integrated motherboard graphics for battery saving.) Battery time decent 3-4 h if you run it super-hard with high graphics and pretty illuminated screen and all. When word processing and working in Excel, I've pressed it beyond 6h, IIRC. I settled on a 15" screen, just to bring down the price. I didn't want to pay more than 1,000 Euros last summer. I re-programmed the touch-pad a bit, so I get a scroll wheel function on it, but those pad buttons were a bit stiff when it was brand-new. It makes a bit of a noise if you press it for long on some tough graphical task, I'm not bothered one bit by it, though. I'd love to hear about their thoughts on in-game combat mechanics transparency and feedback, and even something on the overall complexity of these mechanics. Is there time to do something about it now, so close to release? (Well, spring, could mean early June.) All I really care about is that they are well and truly satisfied with the product they end up shipping, and that they take their time. Ideally, our eagerness to get our fat hands on Deadfire should play no role in their decision to freeze a particular iteration and say "This'll have to do".

Personally, I think there was too little reactivity of this kind in PoE1, and I really hope Deadfire will improve on this aspect. As for Deadfire: I recall how DA:O promised lots of reactivity in this regard, but when I picked a poor elf as my origin, it almost felt that the 2h origin story was the gist of it, which was a huge let-down. P.S. Cool title - click-friendly, trollish, and with a question mark, but still to the point. Brilliant!

Interesting video. Medium shields can be used to hit people on the collar bone by the neck, then press it onto the upper torso of your enemy, effectively locking his sword out of the way, while you get to thrust your enemy with a sword, for instance. And that shield knob, now I get what it's for.

Yeah. Is everybody ambidextrous in Deadfire? The offhand should have its price, no, if both is invested in offense? And if they decide to improve the shield abilities, and add some that are offensive, the same kind of consideration would apply. -
Still Spring 2018 as launch date, according to Katrina, and it's clear that the combat flow is one major thing that they are working on (which certainly reflects tonnes of feedback on the backer beta subforums. I for one am keenly looking forward to the next Obsidian update.

@SonicMage117: I really like your inquisitive style, and your thread-starting enthusiasm, but unfortunately, to me, three out of five of your latest additions to the Deadfire forums come across as clickbaits and Deadfire trolling. In 18 days, you have added the following threads: -Deadfire Failing -SJW Integration in Deadfire -Player Freedom Less Than Original Game To forum visitors, they look like highly critical headlines, which is a bit bizarre, since the game isn't even finished yet. This last one of yours is great, through, as your inquisitive nature shines through. It also has a question mark: -Firearms more diverse in Deadfire than PoE1? Religion in Deadfire is your best title yet. Just some food for thought. Carry on.

I love your calculations, MaxQuest! And your quick and dirty fix (v5) is definitely a big improvement. Also, a bonus that it follows PoE1. As for damage rolls being float, well, it's a true conundrum. It really doesn't fit a CRPG or any kind of game system user-end-wise. -
The world map of M&M VII was extremely fun to explore, and so was M&M VI. I'd love to mention MotB too, not because it was one single world map to explore with some kind of open-world design, but because the world "excerpts" and dimensions/planes you got to visit there was out of this world and very atmospheric. So much bang for your buck.

Should Might stay multiplicative or return to additive?

The obligatory stupid question of the day: How can rolled damage be in decimals, like 15.2 or 17.2? And then the hardest question, how can we clean up this system, preferably using integers all the way, so it gets simpler and easier to follow and learn by heart (at least approximate)? -
And before they make this exhaustive dream of ours come true, please let them simplify their systems a bit more elegantly. Just look at MaxQuest's hard work figuring out how something so pivotal and basic as our damage gets calculated: This is far too complex to my liking, and I've played CRPGs for like three decades, and D&D for four decades. Imagine how a newcomer to Deadfire will feel!
