For real? If so, how utterly disturbed and...

I cannot resist the urge to admit that Calax is an über-cool name. It has an air of Galaxy and Gygax, and that sounds like heaven to me.

Diablo 3 - Reaper of Souls - new expansion
IndiraLightfoot replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Computer and Console
Hmm, how will this Act V work? Will it only open up after Inferno Act I-IV? Or is it there on each difficulty level, like I-V times 4? I do like that there will be less junk drops and hopefully a bit more smart drops that fit the character you are playing. -

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt [2014]
IndiraLightfoot replied to Messier-31's topic in Computer and Console
But of course, we could be partners in crime! We just need to hack ourselves into a few encrypted systems and by-pass some firewalls, and then we're good to go. Now, where's my book "Hacking for Dummies"? -
Well, if there are no charges against him, he should of course be set free. I fear, however, that there are millions of people in Egypt that wish to tear that man to pieces. Will he leave the country now? Or will he find a safe haven somewhere among his military brethren?

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt [2014]
IndiraLightfoot replied to Messier-31's topic in Computer and Console
Wow, what a scenery! The year 2014 is shaping up to be the year I need to take a sabbatical, because there are so many promising games coming out. What to do? What to do? *Sneaks off and rob an internet bank* -
Prism Program ( Big Brother gone too far?)

Woah! Manning got 35 years. That's basically the best years of his life. He has some retirement centre to look forward to, or at least a last shot at breaking Bad like Walt, that Bryan Cranston character. -
Hmm, now it seems Hosni Mubarak is about to be set free. That would be an interesting turn of events.

Diablo 3 - Reaper of Souls - new expansion
IndiraLightfoot replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Computer and Console
That is very disconcerting, indeed, as I absolutely adore necromancy in all kinds of RPGs, even in this so-called action RPG. True, if only this had been in from the start. I guess it's all about the money... Yes, that will be a very hard blow to many core players. And they clearly want the AH spinning its wheels for a new cash cascade. Perhaps you could save the present loot and have it locked to D3 vanilla, and then keep a copy of it all on your toons too in some expansion mode, I dunno. Stupid suggestion, prolly. -
Diablo 3 expansion teaser This video was recently posted in Random Game News by Malcador, and I thought it's something worthy of its own thread. I may add this cinematic video: And this by MrBrown: Some info on diablo's expansion: http://us.battle.net...opic/9678948971 Whatever people think about Blizzard and Diablo3, this expansion will leave us with a lot to discuss, hopefully. I for one played Diablo 3 for hundred of hours and levelled up three toons (that hated WoW-word) to 60 and killed Diablo at Inferno level. My biggest gripes were the too cartoonish style, the lame story, the infernal loot drops, the constant patch changes, the AH house (although you can make sweet money off of it, just like Steam Cards, just a lot more) and no fun End Game. Still, seen as a fast arcade, it was sure entertaining and addictive enough. What are your hopes and fears for this expansion, if any? I wonder: -Will they clean out the whole AH? -Level 70 will make most stuff worthless, no? -Will Paragon levels on all toons add up and be saved when upgrading? -Will there me more new classes besides the new Crusader?
-
Leferd: Not exactly. Just press play and turn down the volume under Options and wait like 3 h, then you'll have your four cards. Hence, my use of quotation marks around playing.

I am not a roguelike player but I have recently been informed that FoW clearing in roguelikes takes into account facing as well as the casting of light, rather than a simple radius around party members blocked by walls. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=4ngG8Eqvz80 Hopefully, it will work very much like COH2's fog of war, and if it does, I'll be very happy indeed.

Nah, North European, just like you. It all took place in one of your rotten state's old territories! "En lille hilsen fra en af de tabte østdanske landsdele!" Even if the guests stayed in succession, it all combined certainly took its toll on me, especially the few kindergarten kids. I had forgotten how intense those little buggers are, after all. Well, tomorrow I have a dentist appointment to look forward to.

Yeah, and a bit contrived too, especially the generic mini-landscape where the encounter takes place, even that's a tradition that goes back to the Dragonlance CRPGs, at least. Personally, I'd love to see no fast travel on the world map at all. Instead, there would be varied scripted encounters that even replace critters slain in some areas with new ones and even quest-related events (minor and major).

Chilloutman: Good point! Perhaps it will be like in DAO. You'll always run the risk of encounters while using the world map for longer travels?

Been playing M&M X a bit lately. And some aspects of that UI is pretty interesting (bad part is that it's a big dashboard along the bottom that makes a letter box of the gaming screen with blinds in the upper corners): There's a party of four, and they all share one big invo. The selected portrait is shown as a manikin beside the invo, and when you right-click an object, it gets equipped. In a way, a shared invo makes sense as a party carrying capacity abstraction. In M&M X you can hire pack horses that make that invo even bigger. Perhaps it would be possible to have a party invo in PE, and if you have a lot of strong party members the number of invo slots literally increases, and if you get a pack mule, it gets even bigger. Another thing is a shared action bar at the bottom. Just click on a portrait, and the action bar becomes that character's - with its unique shortcuts of potions, weapons and spells.

I've been recuperating from having friends and family over for a consecutive 48 days - granted I've worked and even escaped for a few days of vacation during that parade of loved ones. Luckily, they've been lodged in our guest house, but still... It feels like I've done my fair share of socializing and entertaining for this year. I'm looking forward to an Autumn in near isolation!

Thanks for an exciting update! Defiance Bay, here I come! My party has just burnt its outskirts, Rebellion Rift and Spite Meadows, to the ground! Wichts rock, nuff said! As for the convo UI, lovely nostalgia, already, others have covered my gripes with it, like: -problematic font, with bad kernelling and I-displacement -Superfluous ":" before the "-" in dialogue options -Superflouus source in front of descriptive text -Descriptive text needs to stand out more -Lack of portrait of the other party involved in dialogue -Perhaps a too heavy UI frame. It could be more organic and less square And I also felt that the conversation comes across as a bit modern American for this kind of setting, but that's no biggie, perhaps.

I've been "playing" Shadowrun Returns and some other game that just turned into steam card slot machines. Thank you for another two euros. It was sorely needed after my recent M&M X Legacy Deluxe purchase. Easy come, easy go, I suppose.

It seems to be a lot of tinseltown animations and annoying timing - it's a bit like arcade games and Kingdoms of Amalur. I can't say I'm very excited about this development, especially for a party-based game. I didn't play DA2, and this doesn't bode well combat-wise.
