Character Rollaholic - Mea Culpa
IndiraLightfoot replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Fun typo! My mind must have swapped "give a wide berth" with "a wide girth". And you are right about the visibility of course (except perhaps for colours and obviously wide characters). But it is still a must in so far as I love getting to pick those rather central attributes, even if they remain just numbers to many people - to me, they are one step further in the character creation.

What you having for dinner tonight?
Our family follow that very diet since quite a while back. Red meat in Europe, regardless of description, is mostly Romanian horse meat anyway (I'm not kidding).

The funny things thread
I know, priceless! I had the good fortune of watching this movie as it premiered a long time ago, and this sequence was plug-the-bodily-orifices-before-you-watch-it-funny.

What you having for dinner tonight?
...and just to clarify; by "Belgian", I meant complex, Walloon and Flemish rolled up into one personality, as it were. And the cooking was my own, although I am rather a poor one. My cuisine specialty is limited to pancakes and crêpes and a few salads and pasta sauces, really.

What you having for dinner tonight?
No, that would be la Suède, Sweden, for quite a while now, although my temper and mindset would probably be classified as Belgian.

What you having for dinner tonight?
Pork medaillions, steam-boiled rice and a stir-fry of champignons, onions and peppers. it's a change from my normal family pasta recipes, but sometimes you get nice meat from local farms over here that you just have to use when you get the chance. Yum!

IndiraLightfoot replied to Mr. Magniloquent's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)It sounds interesting, but it's so hard to tell when you don't try it all out in-game. Lucky sods at OEI who get to try these things out!

Diablo 3 - Reaper of Souls - new expansion
Well said! And I adore Titan Quest. I still play it from time to time, as I've always had a soft spot for the myths in Antiquity. As a side note: In what other context than gaming can we have a discussion including the words "oozing fatso" without nobody even flinching?

Scrolls & Wands
IndiraLightfoot replied to Mr. Magniloquent's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Osvir: Some time ago, I was playing Torchlight 2 with a character that dual-wields wands, and it certainly felt like some mad laser-toting mercenary in Star Wars. Quite fun, let's just say it would be hard to translate something like that into the PE setting, unless magic abounds in every nook and cranny.

Diablo 3 - Reaper of Souls - new expansion
D3 certainly is entertaining, no doubt about it. It's like an intense arcade (think good old Gauntlet), where the item drops are everything. It also appeals to my inner searcher and hoarder. I played my first character, a WD, using only in-game drops up till Inferno, but got stuck in Inferno zone 2. The first two patches the WDs were weak. Well, I got tired of that and made two parallel characters, one monk and one WW barbarian, and then I bought and sold heavily on the AH. Guess which one reached the end of Act IV of Inferno first? The main thing that made me stop was the endless repetition. Monster levels and paragon levels weren't enough to keep me hooked. And my gear got decent enough too late, so it was nearly impossible to get it any better without resorting to millions in that AH. I need new content and a new hunt for new gear to revive D3, so this expansion is most welcome in that regard. Multiplayer with strangers were often a nightmare, sadly. And I recall how my monk got stuck on that oozing fatso in mid-Act III in inferno at some point, and then I needed someone's help to pass that hump. Luckily, there was someone that did it without demanding like a million from me. Well, a few days later, the oozing fatso was nerfed anyway.

Another snippet of information: No character will have paragon levels anymore, it will be the account, and you get points based on how much experience your account has accumulated (from all the chars) confirmed by lyra on twitter. And yet another: Many of these features will come for free in a patch before the expansion: "We want to implement a lot of the new systems and features in a pre-expansion patch for free. That should include Paragon 2.0, Loot 2.0, Loot Runs, and Nephalem Trials. For now, you'll need to purchase the expansion to play as the Crusader, explore Act V, unlock the Mystic, and level up to 70. These details may change as development moves along, but we want some of the core gameplay improvements to be available for everyone."

Diablo 3 - Reaper of Souls - new expansion
I've got a feeling there may be another one hidden away in a closet for a big reveal later. If you look at your account screen, you can see they have already left enough room on the UI to add 1 act and 2 characters, so I still have hope something might be revealed at BlizzCon. Also, here's a recent quote from one of the Blizz devs - Grimiku: "One of the ideas driving Loot 2.0 is that players should not feel that they need to use the Auction House. We don't mind if players use it, but targeted drops, reduced trash items, better stat ranges, new Legendary effects, and the Mystic should help players feel empowered by the item hunt, and not forced to use the Auction House." If this is correct, it is a first step forward, as it would improve the game quite a bit.
