  1. Alright, I just rewatched the German vid at Gamestar, and I must say the bow shot animation is a bit slack and lacklustre. It looks more like the character is playing the harp quickly, rather than firing an arrow with urgency and strength. Perhaps more stretch to the draw arm, and a cooler angle. Obviously, I realize this kind of stuff isn't easy to tweak, but that's just my opinion.
  2. http://www.twitch.tv/twitch/b/557987029 The segment about Poe starts at 1:36, and the spell fx, I dunno, like 10 min later?
  3. Yeah! NWN2 was ripe with flashy glyph circles and pentagrams! We don't want that back.
  4. Aha! I had forgotten about that. I must check that later. I still have IWD2 installed. Hmm, regardless, it could be slightly more varied and alive, coz several effects that we've been shown actually are.
  5. Tartantyco: I really loved the exploration in BG1 too. I still recall my first playthrough most vividly, very much because of it and the weird choices I made (but I still persevered). BG2 in that very regard was a pretty big disappointment, it's biggest fault, even. I do hope we get more of BG1 than BG2 when it comes to exploration.
  6. Just an idea: Perhaps the forum moderators can glean new beta build topics like this, pre-launch the beta subforum a bit, and move all these kinds of topics over there?
  7. Hi! I saw the thread about animations and reckoned that a similar thread for feedback about spell/particle effects was in demand. In the 2nd Live Booth Twitch vid, I agree with the interviewer that the fireball effect was beautiful for instance. However, like half a minute later, the wizard casts a lightning jolt, and it looks not very good at all. It retains its lightning shape like a stiff bolt-net as it flies through the air. In essence, this topic is for nitpicking of that kind and your general opinion about FX!
  8. Hmm, Twitch refused to work for me until the last minute. When a vid link is available, can someone please post it here?
  9. Character creation is half the fun in the PoE beta - I don't care about the number of quests.
  10. Josh said in the Ogre vid that the first time your health reaches zero your character will get maimed (in some fashion), and the next time it reaches zero, you're dead with no possibility of resurrection - it doesn't exist in PoE.
  11. The crossbow winding was great, and so was the fight vs the ogre! Four days left until character creation overload!!
  12. Indeed, hence "slightly", which was me being kind - it was dead easy, excuse the pun.
  13. Not at all, SqueakyCat! You're just a bit late, that's all. http://www.twitch.tv...tch/b/557643505 It starts at 1:04:36.
  14. Me neither. I mean, in Dragon Age: Origins you had maimed conditions, and they were sort of separate from you dying - they were merely severe disadvantages that were slightly difficult to get rid of, IIRC.
  15. I just realized that I'd like to play PoE with maiming and death as possible outcomes. I wonder if any game mode will allow for that.
  16. Could it be that they stick with "your main pc dead equals game over"-concept, unlike NWN2, where your PC could be killed in combat, and then the rest of your party fought on and rezzed you later?
  17. We've just been dealt a ****ty hand of cards... EDIT: Unless! Perhaps this is a sign that they will in fact develop more products, if they get the resources from, say, a Kickstarter, like a huge open-world Pathfinder CRPG.
  18. Alright, so what is it now? Stamina to zero in combat means "knocked out", "unconscious". Health to zero means a percentage roll for either maimed or dead. Is that correct?
  19. Indeed. Many ARPGs work just like that on higher difficulty levels. I want something different for a real CRPG.
  20. Karkarov: That's more readable, sure, but it's still not good enough for me. I'm getting old, I guess, poor eyesight and all that jazz.
  21. Hey, hey, hey... that was Adam. Not me. Don't pin that performance on me! I didn't watch the stream, but if Adam didn't immediately try to kill the wood beetles he was in for a beatdown. Their poison is pretty damaging, so you usually want to go after them first. Regardless, Adam's performance did show us something a lot of us yearns for in a CRPG: difficult and varied party-based combat. He's really done a great service to Obsidian! Now, don't you dare turn down those difficulty knobs!!
  22. Yeah, a bit bolder, and then a nice dropshadow should do the trick.
  23. BrokenMask: I think that's correct, yes.
