I keep reading the news and the tweets. My reaction can only be summed up as: -

Nice summary of events: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45H25Sc6fig -
Sadly, yes. Some of the NATO forces during that period were involved in similar stuff in Croatia too. But negative reports are suppressed/kept quiet. Look at Iraq and Afghanistan. Every time US troops did something "shady" you had to dig it out with a showel.

I'm surprised you're surprised. "Truth is the first casualty of war."

Happiest Countries in the World proves Western Ideology Works

Then its' not "hapiness" they are measuring but "how happy I think people should be based on how I see their country". So basically a bit, fat lie. -

Bah. As if hapiness could be easily measured. I do wonder what methodology was used and how the sample was picked. I read a study that said the average aboridgini tribesman was happier than a westerner. -

Every time you are speeding you are knowingly putting people in danger. Granted, in some places the speed limit is set really low and the danger is minimal. But driving and loosing control or reacting too slowly DOES endanger others. It's considered a minor crime and you'll get a ticket (unless you actually run over somebody) Trash talk does that ONLY if you a) actually mean it and b) actually go trough with it. I can trash talk a million times but as long as I never meant it or was able to do it, no person was ever - EVER - in danger. Talking does not endanger him, only if I act is there danger. And that is 100% in my control. In comparison speeding IS an action that endangers others every single time and the danger is not completely under your control either. Oh no! Well, best make laws to stop people from interacting with each other completely. We wouldn't want bad vibes to totally shatter our oh-so-fragile psyche. Come to think of it, if my girflriend dumps me, that can put me in depression... ATTEMPTED MURDER!!!! -

Speeding actively endangers others. Trash talk does not. Big difference. Then you must have never played competetive multiplayer or been in heated debates. -

That's one thing that shouldn't change. The net is the net. And that is the beauty of it. -

You mean SWJ's aren't attacking everyone who support GG and trying to basically get them ostracized by spreading lies.. and generally treating them like s***. Because gamers are dead and we should all be castrated and no real women would ever sleep with one of us mysogonist pigs. Ironically, them being allowed to say that is also free speech. Which is why actual free speech is so difficult. -

There has been three mass shootings and one bombing of shopping center in past 12 years in Finland, in every of these cases except one (our newest one where perpetrator got angry in line to food kiosk and decided to get his guns and kill everybody) there has been threats from perpetrator that they will do these acts in internet beforehand and each case police deemed those threats to be nothing but empty talks in internet, so much so that in one case the even gave weapon buy permit to perpetrator for weapon that he use in his killing spree even though they knew that he had threaten to shoot his fellow students. Which is why I think that internet threats should be taken as seriously as those that are made to face to face. If we don't take threats in internet seriously they will work as mask that obscures us to see those threats from people that actually will commit acts they threat to do and changes our attitudes towards hostile language so that we don't even blink when people use crude and uncivil language when they speak to us, which just make our society so much less pleasant to live (but that maybe just me not everybody else). And for every one of those there is a million that amount to nothing. Statistically, you have a higher chance of being stuck by lighting while in a rubber suit between two metal buildings. Problem with taking everything seriously then it doesn't leave room for everything else. You talk about a pleasant society to live in? I for one don't consider police states pleasant. -

http://www.xkcd.com/1357/ If someone tries to forcefully shut you up because he doesn't like what you are saying, how is that not censorship and attack on free speech? I'm not talking about the government here mind you. I'm talking about the spirit of what free speech is. Trying to hurt someone, get him in trouble or otherwise pressure him is deplorable either way you look at it. -

If only your standards were decent or worth enforcing. If only you were actually fighting monsters instead of lashing out at everyone who looks at you funny. then I might buy that argument. -

Fantasy. There is no "gaming mysgonistic bubble" Gaming never had any "culture". Not in the real sense of the world. It's more internet "culture", and even saying that is not accurate. And that "culture" is a product of the fact that it was a truly free area. The only real place for freedom of speech. But freedom of speech means that people will get offended and/or say things or hold position other will STRONGLY disagree with. The thought police and moral police don't exactly want that. Feel free to see "manboons", "mysgonist" and "neckbeards" everywhere you look. Fight the windmills. Meanwhile, I'll be here, watching and laughing. -

Elliot Rodger threated to shoot people in internet earlier this year before his killing spree, comes first to my mind. So one time out of a bajillion threats. Go on. -

Whens the last time an internet threat amounted to anything? If I was killed every time someone threatened me with death on the internet, I'd be dead a thousand times by now. Seasoned internet dwellers ignore trash talk like that as the hot gas it is. Some other people use it for sensationalism and to garner sympathy. -
Just FYI - the popular view on many chuch stances is generally intepreted as a lot harsher than they actually are. Things like "if you're not chistian you'll burn in hell!" are not correct.

Except it isn't really tainted. Biased and inaccurate media campaign might give it a negative connotation, but that's all the more reason to stick by and fight for the truth, to dispel it. To distance oneself is to silently accept their accusation that the entire #gamersgate movement is mysogonist/racists. Running away and creating a new "group" or hashtag is not the answer if all it takes is a few idiots to post something offensive under it. You'll just be constantly switching tags or groups. -
Isn't that EXACTLY what anti-GG'ers (at the very least, those I've seen) are doing?
