  1. Wanted to make a joke how the only unique looking class in PE is basically the DnD Mystic, but the latter doesn't use other people's souls. Oh well. I bet this class will be able to manipulate companions' influence points.
  2. Yeah, Hive minds are always awesome. The problem with Geth and the Geth/Quarian dynamic is that it's basically Battlestar Galactica. I may be looking at this narrowly, but I really can't spot a narrative difference. It's all basically this writing style where you look everywhere to steal storylines and recognizable imagery and then just mix the results a little. Too bad there aren't any proper updates for PE regarding races. Meaning, if the next one's elf, that's not a good start. Or at least a regular one...
  3. Well, I would like to see a setting that would feel fundamentally alien at least in one particular aspect: be it structure of sentient society, nature, cosmology or anything else, really. Very few fantasy and sci-fi writers go this route. Definitely not Bioware, who simply take ALL modern sensibilities in every subject conceivable and slap into their games.
  4. That is true, they do not. However, they can be if Obsidian decides they are valuable within their story. Also, saying that something should not be attacked does not equal expressing one's appreciation for that something. The problem is, there are two possible scenarios next: one, Obsidian announces romance to be included, and people who don't like them *demand* them to be taken out (by virtues of the whole thing being a Kickstarter project and human sense of entitlement); and two - the opposite happens with the opposite result. And since the community appears to be very vocal about this, both of these events might make the game worse, and that would be a problem.
  5. So why are you posting in favour of romances? It works both ways. Don't demand romance, and people won't demand no romances. Obs will do whatever they feel is best anyway. Well, the idea was to make a point that romance is typical in fantasy literature, so lobbying against it specifically is strange. And the obligatory and true "devs should make what they want either way". These two points don't really have to contradict each other.
  6. Well, imaginative solutions probably should yield more experience. As for the combat experience vs. questing experience problem, a system similar to Vampire:Bloodlines would solve this, if only dungeon crawling wasn't a substantial part of the game. As it stands, just give people an option to get extra exp by killing everything? I mean, it's their roleplaying.
  7. Wasn't it said in some update that the game is going to use 3d models over 2d backgrounds? Clothes should have 3d models in this case.
  8. So what, the idea the developers should write the story in a way that fits their vision and not pander to people like Bioware do (with their logging exactly how people play and changing the next game according to the results) is simply alien now? I was mostly talking about "how it's normally done in every other medium" because that's simply not true. Ah well, I may have been thinking just about books. Yeah, some video games, movies, serials and the like also pander heavily to their audience. I can also be argued that this kind of approach makes the product objectively worse, so why emulate it?
  9. Well if on higher difficulties there is going to be simply more enemies, as was stated in the update, it would be weird for these enemies to NOT yield more experience.

  11. I honestly don't understand why this whole thing even manages to spark such conflict. Honestly, when you pick up a fantasy book, especially high fantasy, and romance is a part of the story (and it routinely is), it's not a problem, is it? Also, in theory, there shouldn't even be any feedback between writers and their audience, simply because that's how it's normally done in every other medium and, you know, that artistic integrity thing.
  12. It's weird how almost everyone wants the loyalty system to be hidden, and yet Obsidian has been doing the opposite in almost every title. Probably influenced the likes of DA:O too, although those loyalty scales were even worse.
  13. Well, basically, almost all Obsidian games KOTOR2 onward had a companion loyalty system, along with "loyalty increased/decreased by ..." messages. An yet, say, Torment's companions had morale, which was hidden. It can be argued that the first approach breaks immersion consistently, since for at least a lot of players the "decreased" message is basically a signal to reload the conversation.
  14. I would rather see PC+companion only in the game. Someone will mod it to allow custom parties later anyway. Roleplaying an entire party is kind of pointless, it's best to just play pen and paper.
  15. I'd rather there were multiple portraits for party members and major characters and none for everyone else. Also, I remember hearing something about using 3d models in their last update, so that's good.
  16. When DLC are large, they might as well be called expansion packs, really. It's selling small quests, weapons, armor and the like for questionably large amounts of cash that's bad.
  17. Ideally, I would like to see what BG2 had, i.e. different houses for different class groups with different functions. But since that's asking a lot, then a big house. As in, a manor.
