  1. Is there any chance the 2nd copy of the game in the $80+ digital tiers could be replaced by something different? So far I've pledged $90: for the beta key, the digital strategy guide, the obsidian order and the $50 reward tier. I'd really like to add the expansion which would get me to the $110 tier but then I'd end up without most of it's rewards. I have no need for a 2nd copy of the game, nobody I know likes gaming for some weird reason
  2. I don't think rogue (could be a non-combat class from locksmith to pickpocket to diplomat to spy to con-man to a combat class like a spellscroll using mage) automatically equals assassin (combat class with paralysing sneak attacks/poisons). I'd like to see a Shadowdancer (hide/move silently) or duelist (int based offense/defense) class. Of course all of those could fit under rogue but then a necromancer could fit under wizard, a shaman under priest and a paladin under fighter. If you look at it like that you only need a fighter/mage/priest/rogue class.
  3. I'm complaining that it lacks a certain fantasy trope
  4. Hmm, I've already pledged every cent I could spare (and some I couldn't) on the PE kickstarter and the BG:EE pre-order. But even if I had the money right now, that project consists of pretty much everything I -don't- like about RPGs: first person perspective, male protagonist, sci-fi setting and a messy badly timed kickstarter campaign to boot. Also their version of old style RPG (as repeated a little too often in the description) seems more like ancient style RPG to me.
  5. I think there should be some effects to the world around you as you progress in the game but I like having those effects on a smaller, more personal scale. A personal journey of your character and the effects that has on people you meet is fine. But like the ripples in a pond if you throw a stone in the water, the effects should be more subtle the further away you get from the event and the person that caused it. As such, the effects to the world in a future game should be limited unless it has directly to do with your character.
  6. Interesting. Although I'm starting to notice a lack of rogue-like classes. All the add-ons seem to be fighter/priest/mage classes. wtb bard/shadowdancer/assassin/duelist builds
  7. - Needy NPCs or companions that I'm forced to take seriously, or worse, that I have to cater to in order to keep my party viable in combat - Male gamer centered game. Women love to play RPGs too, give us some love - 'Evil' dialogue choices that are just stupid and lack any sense of self-preservation or logic. Also please keep in mind that rude and abrasive isn't evil, it's just annoying. So please add some manipulative, intelligent dialogue that doesn't default to 'I'll just murder you because I can'.
  8. Evil is a matter of perspective. But enjoy beating the dead horse.
  9. I have pre-ordered it. I'm interested in the new content and any return to old style RPGs get my support. Even though I do own the original version...twice. ps. Please stop the romance hatred already, t's getting old.
  10. @OP BG2 and other isometric games did have romances. So if romances are your criterium then there are no 'traditionalists', only 'biowarists'. Now shoo, your bias is showing.
  11. One of the few things I really liked in DA:O were the origin stories. Perhaps something like that for a major stretch goal? With the option to skip for those who prefer to design their own background story of course.
  12. - Being forced to play a male character. - Being forced to either play a goody two-shoes or being defaulted into a clown or a chaotic-evil psychopath with a single brain cell. (I'd like to play a smart, manipulative lawful-evil PC for once please!). - Lack of meaningful player choices. An RPG should be about developing your own character and style as you go along, not a passive play-our-character-exactly-as-we-want-you-to interactive movie. This includes but is not limited to: > being railroaded > full voice acting > dialogue wheel, especially if they contain goody-two-shoes/clown/mentally challenged psychopath options only > frequent, long cinematics > press a button and something 'awesome' happens > ninja's that fall out of the sky or crazy acrobatic moves (yes, I'm looking at you again DA2) - Lack of subtitles for those that aren't native English speakers but do prefer to play the game in English.
  13. 38, BG2, NWN2, VtM:Bloodlines, Ultima 7. However, I really don't like RPG's that force you into playing a male protagonist (like PS:T and The Witcher unfortunately). Edit: I almost forgot: any Forgotten Realms crpg like Curse of the Azure Bonds/ Pool of Radiance, etc. Those were absolutely wonderful at the time.
  14. My cat > your dog. Sorry, I'm not a dog person.
  15. Thanks to update 9 you got me. - Moirnelithe, Mascot of the Obsidian Order Edit: looks like mascotte isn't an english word
