$2.0M: so very close!
kenup replied to Macbeth's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
The game won't have a big budget anyways. Making a profit afterwards is important, if we want to see it contiue. -
Let's name this game.

Seriously? More profits for Obsidian, mean a higher chance for an other game and more content for that as well. No offence, but you are really shortsighted here. -

Quests, dialog and items are good(and they don't need a house). The rest; I still say meh. I wouldn't have a problem, and probably welcome it, if the budget was higher. But right now I think it's just something that could be replaced by other things. -

I don't see what the non-interest in localization has to do with reaching or not the $2.0M goal today. But since it's brought up.... Personally, I think the house thing as a stretch goal is stupid. All we need is a place to stash stuff and crafting/alchemy tables. Spending a big amount of resources on a house is a waste IMO. -
From what you give as an alternate example, I would say no. I don't care for my wizard to look like a shaman, with a half-naked torso and ridiculously huge hands and staves. I'm all for variety though, and I would probably prefer something more movement/combat friendly, anyway. Heavy robe skirts tend to get in the way.

[Merged] Voice Acting- Suggestion
kenup replied to Dashwood's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
No voice acting, except for very specific cases perhaps. The last thing I want, is my character's family and friends call him You all the time. Unless we have a completely fixed character, like The Nameless One or Mike Throton for example, which this game isn't going to have. Not to mention, it will drain a huge amount of resources. -
Companion loyalty system?
kenup replied to lordgizka's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I don't know whether hidden checks will really stop me from trying to get everything I want right(or wrong). I mean, in the first playthrough, I probably won't check any guides or wikis, but after that..... I would like it, if it was visible through words below the portrait, in the character screen. As in: [boone's Portrait] Hater Rival or shown on their expresion in the portraits, as someone said. -
Humor is against maturity? I would welcome any good humor. Breaking someone's speech, by saying something witty, is one of my priorities.

How should the UI look?
kenup replied to Rostere's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
DA:O like UI, but highly scalable/costumizable. I have no intrest in getting myself blind. -
Good or evil?
kenup replied to Klaleara's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Thre should be a range of choices, not limited to clear cut good and evil(though being a jerk just for the lulz has its benefits , namely the lulz). Karma meters are really bad most of the time though. As for abilities based on moral choices(and not only in dialogue), they would be cool if done like Fallout(i.e. Childkiller), or Alpha Protocol. -
All of the options are fine, as long as the chests are also from bosses'. But no randomized loot, grinding should be avoided to become neccesary for anything(other than grinding). And no crafting(especially by the player). If a smith can suddenly create an Infinity Plus One Sword or similar, the materials better be unique and really hard to find/aquire.

What I would like to see is benefits from using only one handers, just like every other style has its own. For example holding a one-hander with both hands makes for more criticals/damage. Still not as much raw damage as a huge ass battleaxe or claymore, but more than a sword and shield style, which is a more defensive focus. No go-to styles though, every style that can be implemented should be a viable, with it's own positives and negatives.

NOOoooOOooOOOOoooooooOO!!!!!1!1!one! Each one having its benefits and negatives perhaps, and these showing up even at the later stages. Which, IMHO, means that they shouldn't be restricted to +x points to y stat. And since it was already brought up, no pallet swap(though I doubt we will have to worry about it) and perhaps some more "alien" races.

Tropes vs Women
kenup replied to Qorem's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
No, trust me I have. Nevertheless, for me that video is pretty fringe because....well wtf I can't make sense of it. She's arguing a sci-fi trope that shows horror pregnancies somehow victimizes women? With that argument, any mythological or fantasy setting that shows dudes being hopelessly lured to their death by the alluring call of a siren is victimizing men. I'd never draw that conclusion though, so all I can do is watch that vid and think "wat." She only starts with horror pregnancies. She then expands to every pregnancy that is not "normal" and/or happy ending. She has a problem with pregnancies in fiction. When I saw that about a month ago, I was like WHAAAAAT? -

That was the stupidest controversy thing I had seen in the internet at the time. But as far as I remember, only idiots like moviebob promoted it. -
Tropes vs Women
kenup replied to Qorem's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Having biased cultures and/or factions won't mean the developers are biased, or that the women in game, actually are inferior. If anything your character could prove more that women are not inferior through their actions.
