  1. Leave those dirty, dirty minds at the door. But seriously, I don't get it. I also don't get the little icons (-5 Shield, 75% sword and shield) Thank you!
  2. The former, though I was also comparing it to the old Tales of the Sword Coast, which was a save file. I'd much prefer an option to jump into WM as a standalone adventure.
  3. Hi all, Would Obsidian ever consider doing a 'save file' with a group of 7th level adventurers ready to tackle just the White March content, ala Tales of the Sword Coast? I find that when I get the itch to play Pillars, I want to go straight to WM, which has better encounters and far more polish. I usually give up by Act 2, however, before I can actually start it. I'd love to just dive into White March in the same way that sometimes I like diving straight into Blood and Wine or Throne of Bhaal. But I'm probably being picky.
  4. How many times does this need to be discussed. Josh said that the decision was not made lightly, and that the whole game is balanced around 5 members now for a multitude of reasons. He said is feedback during beta is overwhelmingly negative, it can change. End of discussion. Don't like it, don't back it, or, wait for beta and make your argument then.
  5. He is a shipwrecked sailor, in a world full of maritime powers... how is this the Wutai trope if he is from a separate Asian nation?
  6. Well I'm 90% sure Rekke is based on the Japanese, since he is 'Storm Folk', looks strange to Ocean, Savannah and Meadow Folk, and doesn't speak a word of any known language. Japan is famous for its storms (the kamikaze being the most notable), so maybe Rekke at least will have a katana?
  7. In the new Q and A Carrie mentions that one of the Tyranny writers is writing a chanter called something like 'Tokaygu'. Seeing as it is a Polynesian-sounding name, I think that's our moon godlike 6th companion Edit: It's around 22mins in the vid
  8. Then don't take any druid levels for Edér. Problem solved. Obviously. But from a story perspective, if someone does chose to take druid or mage, how does the story accommodate that? Or is it just a gamey thing that won't get explained?
  9. I'm very worried. I don't like what multiclassing does to class identity. I can live with Eder being multiclassed with rogue or priest of Eothas, but he isn't a friggen' druid.
  10. Please, God, after the story. I LOVE WM, but where it is in the game screws the balance of the game and the flow of the narrative entirely.
  11. I don't see the link. Practically anything in Eora is an animist, since everything in the universe is attributed a living soul. I too am struggling to see what they liberate though. I think something like Green Knight or Warden might be better.
  12. When it is done it is done, but I'm seriously dreading another 2 and a half years of waiting through unrelenting hype like last time. But since they have their systems established, and seem to be further ahead than last time, do you think Obsidian is actually on track for Q1 2018?
  13. Yeah, I agree. I really don't like multiclassing from an RP or gameplay perspective.
  14. Well, I don't think they have a king for one. And their crest is a rising sun. Also, the Aedyran Empire's crest if the pearl sceptre, and that symbol above the crown looks like a pearl. I'd say they are an exiled line of Aedyran royalty, or maybe a lapse colony. Definitely some Weodican shenanigans whatever it is.
  15. I'm not so sure. Their crest is a sceptre. The upside down crown seems to signify a fallen kingdom or exiled royalty. I'm thinking the latter.
  16. Hmm, looks like I was wrong, no Aedyr Empire... could this be the local power? It refers to foreigners, and the waves imply islands or ocean, so maybe this is a local boreal dwarf kingdom? Edit: I actually think this might be Naasitaq. The guide states that it is the biggest and most stable nation in the archipelago, which is why maybe the foreigners respect the throne?
  17. I actually think the returning companion teasers are over now, and now they're teasing other aspects. I reckon this might be teasing a new faction. The quote uses 'we' instead of 'I' and talks about bringing law to this land. I think his might be our Knights of the Crucible kind of faction. Good point! The new teaser also seems to relate to the faction (Vailan Republics or Five Suns order?), not a character. Yup, I'm convinced these are factions now. The crossed cannons are Rauatai, today's is the Republics, and my prediction for tomorrow is the white scepter of the Aedyran Empire OR the stag-head of the Dyrwood. My wonderful guidebook to the PoE settings says Deadfire is constantly fought over by the major nations, and Aedyr and her colonies seem to be the last one left.
  18. I would agree with you for the most part, but it is clear you haven't read the Silmarillion. Tolkien's elves have never had a vast empire - they have, as Galadriel says, always been fighting the 'long defeat'. And certainly Faenor and his ilk would never be caught dead frolicking. Post-Tolkien elves tend to be baudlerised misinterpretations of his elves, who are actually very dark. It is stated often that they prefer darkness to light, for instance (they call Men 'night-fearers'), and Sam always describes them as 'fair but sad'.

At least One companion teaser is still "missing" for sure... I can't belive the good old Durance will have nothing to say about the return of the god he slayed himself! I feel the same way; was totally surprised he isn't there. However, I actually feel they are keeping him quiet for something big. I don't think making him a joinable NPC is big enough for what they have planned. I feel like he might have a whole following of Duranites.

  21. Infinitron - this is entirely off-topic but I have been wondering for years: what the heck is your portrait depicting? http://wiki.uqm.stack.nl/Melnorme Wow, never heard of this game. It seems immense. Thanks!

  23. Two mechanics that make me hate posters: 1. Blatantly untrue information relayed in a whiney, entitled tone. 2. The use of 'cancer' to describe anything but a terrible, life-destroying disease.
  24. Need context. What kind of games do you play? If you like Infinity Engine games such as Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale, chances are this game is for you. Or even if you like KOTOR, Divinity, or RPGs in general. If that is the case, I would just wait for the next sale and purchase it for yourself, and try and sell this box online if indeed it is signed. You might get something for it.
