  1. I think that's really all that matters at the end of the day
  2. The voice set thing ultimately came down to budget limitations. We had a small amount of time with our actors which we needed to maximize as much as possible. But I do agree, there's lots of room for improvement there.
  3. Awesome story, thanks for sharing it! Rare to hear that the music is what piqued your interest, but I'm happy to hear that it was.
  4. Yeah sorry about that. I wish there was something I could do to split those out into different sliders, but there wasn't an easy way :/
  5. Thanks! Honestly who knows what we're going to do next? Several folks from Obsidian mentioned the desire to do a sequel in the past, but in truth we're really just focused on the recent release of the White March Part II. As for what I'd do differently? Good question, not sure off the top of my head. I'll have to think about it some more. A lot of the things I'd want to change have to do with tech. The audio team came on the project later than the rest of the team and we didn't have much time to introduce new audio features into the game. That ship had sailed, or so the saying goes. If I could go back in time I'd make sure we had some more features to help us make the game. It would have been hard to know then what I know now though, so I'm not sure the outcome could have been any different. The bottom line though is that you folks liked the game. We made it for you, so if you're happy we are too
  6. Who knows what the future will bring? BTW, completely off topic (sorry) but I've put more hours into Destiny than any other game I've ever played in 30 years of gaming... Something like 350 hours? Love that game, hate it's RNG and grindy end game. This song gets lots of flack but I think it's pretty good! Ok back to the topic at hand. To be frank, I have lots of regrets about the way combat music was handled. But we did the best we could in the amount of time we had. If I ever get the chance for a do-over, you can bet there will be a fresh approach.
  7. Hi BigPrimeNumbers. Sorry to hear about about the music bugs you're encountering. I encourage you to reach out to Microsoft and/or Ubisoft technical support about it. Unfortunately, since the game us being emulated on the Xbox One, there's little we can do to resolve the issue on our side.
  8. Thanks for the very kind words about the White March's soundtrack JJGee. I'm very happy with the way some of it's music turned out as well. Writing the music for PoE was a real privilege.
  9. There are some that I figured some folks wouldn't be interested in. The Thaos theme is one example (the one with the cello).
  10. I really like how that one came out too. So I'm not the only one who gets annoyed at their own music! I feel somewhat relieved by this! Ps: I love your PoE soundtrack as a whole: it's just so evocative! Thank you! Was that track inspired a bit by the shire music from lord of the rings? that middle bit youre talking about reminds me of it Yes, it definitely was inspired by the shire, though it was a total accident. I was sketching the music and it sort of came out on it's own. When I orchestrated it, it sounded so close to the shire that I thought it ripped it off so I listened to them back to back. They're definitely cut from the same cloth but the minutiae are different.
  11. Thank you guys for the compliment. Glad you like it. For what it's worth sp3cw4r, Caed Nua is one of my least favorite tracks as well. I like the beginning kinda (wish I could fix some things), I like the end, but the middle part makes me antsy for some reason.
  12. Thanks :D The song in the background was a collaboration between Josh and I. I wanted to write a folk song set in the world of Eora, and Josh came up with the idea of making it about Ondra and Abydon. Really happy with the way it turned out.
  13. Hi baqar79, Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I'll investigate this further and see if it's possible to resolve the issue. I can't make any promises, but I will do my best.
  14. It can add bugs and other problems and game starts to be end of its life cycle so they want to limit resources they put in the game to minimum. So adding any features are on too risky list if there isn't substantial reason to add it. (This is just guess based on how things usually go in software development) Yes exactly. A seemingly small change can create many problems without realizing it. I'm sure we're going to continue to support PoE in some form as time goes on, but what that means precisely I don't know. Big feature changes will probably be very calculated. Indeed! It's very easy to mod yourself.
  15. Hi FlorianGH, Maybe for future games, but at this point it would be too risky to do for PoE and its expansions. However please feel free to replace the combat music files I described earlier in this thread.
  16. Hey OnyxIdol, I'll discuss updating the digital soundtrack with production. Can't make any promises but I'll see if we're able to do something.
  17. I'll talk it over with Brandon. No guarantees, but I will try! EDIT: Wait, what are we talking about?
  18. I figured folks wouldn't be interested in those, maybe I was wrong?
  19. This is the reason in a nutshell. For fulfillment purposes we needed to print the CD a bit before the game was done, which meant music that was written later wouldn't be on it. But I do understand that it seems odd. That said the printed CD is truly a limited edition since it will never be made again, and that's what makes it unique! For future products, if we do in fact make more limited CD such as this, we'll investigate different timeframes to ensure the sound tracks are as up to date as possible. Well, the extended version on YT has "official" sounding tracknames, so it looks to me there are two versions. It is also called "Official Soundtrack Full Album". Which is odd, because as I said the version on Amazon has 26 tracks, but this one has 41. A lot of those additional; pieces of music aren't really "pieces of music" in the strictest sense. Some are small stingers we play here and there for dramatic effect, but are really so short that they can hardly be considered a track at all. Others are fragmented pieces of music that get sequentially stitched together in game and so by themselves (debatably) cannot be considered a track.
