  1. Fair enough, and I do agree actually. There's something that will be in the final game that will balance that concern out quit nicely I think! Can't wait for you guys to experience it.
  2. There is some choir, but not much. I had hoped to do more but it just didn't end up working out. What is there works well though.
  3. It's my pleasure of course! I don't want to spoil too much, but have found ways to incorporate the kickstarter campaign music into the main game.
  4. Thanks much for the kind words. I think this is a great idea. Perhaps after the game ships and the dust settles, keep bugging me about it!
  5. Good idea! I guess if there's enough demand for that we might be able to accommodate
  6. There are one or two recurring themes yes. The main theme is about the people, cultures and history of the world of Pillars of Eternity. It's a story about the people and the beauty, suffering, sorrow, joy, tragedy, etc. of their lives, past present and future. Regarding the creature sounds, we might not be able to pull that off for this game unfortunately, though I really like the idea. Maybe for Eternity 2? The audio mix in the PAX panel had lots of problems. The end result will sound more appropriate, everything will feel like it's where it belongs volume wise. We do have different loot pickup/drop inventory sounds, similar to the way Diablo does it...
  7. Yes you will be able to modify the soundtrack if you want to. That's an excellent sign, thank you! Yes. It's because you're hearing the same one over and over and over and over and over.... The main game won't have this problem nearly as badly.
  8. Absolutely not, I'm humbled and honored thank you for doing it! Thank you! You know what? That's exactly one of the things I pictured when I was writing it too If you want to know the concept behind it I'd be happy to get into greater detail. We're still finalizing the soundtrack, so it's hard to say exactly at this point. We're looking into doing something special, but we have no definitive plans yet. We recorded with East Connection in Budapest, it was a 60 piece orchestra. Hmmmm... Part of me wants to say "yes", but... I almost don't want to spoil the fun Let it be a surprise!
  9. I just exported a more current version yesterday in fact, sounds fuller and richer.
  10. They are a bit thin though, you're right. I was too aggressive cutting the low end with this particular mix. It's since been restored!
  11. YES. Pretty much the most amazing thing known to human kind (ok maybe not quite but up there). A deeply humbling experience to be sure.
  12. Sorry, they don't let me out of my office enough to learn the art of proper Obsidian Sanctioned TM comebacks
  13. .... GREAT. Now I no longer like that picture. THANKS ALOT FLOW Crickets are going back in folks, didn't know it was the grasshoper sounds you didn't like. We'll take those out ASAP
  14. Take heart my fellow cricket haters. Your picture has inspired us to improve our wilderness day and night time ambiences (and some other ones too). Fellow Obsidian sound designers are working on this RIGHT NOW as I type.
  15. Oh. My. God. HaHAHAHAHAH! You made my day with this pic. In all seriousness folks, don't you worry. Eternity is going to sound incredible.
  16. Remember the update 76 video? Thats about how the mix is going to sound, and the beta doesnt sound that way yet.
  17. Hmm, this one I'm not so sure about. I'm not a huge fan of the stampede effect of the ie games when you have a full party. That said, we havent touched the mix yet, so theres a chance we'll make the footsteps slightly more audible. And MAYBE we'll be able to get a footstep slider for those who like footstep sfx. Maybe.
  18. Yes I agree, we're definitely looking into it. Sort of relates to what I said above. I would also prefer if the big huge epic music would only trigger when its meaningful to do so. For example, if your party is overpowered compared to an encounter, then the music shouldnt feel epic. Thats a great request, I'll write up a bug for it.
  19. Hi Falkon Swiftblade. Yes definitely, I agree with you and many at Obsidian feelmthe same as you. We're thinking of ways to fix this issue. Part of the solution is to fix the music itself, but there are some system level solutions we hope to explore as well that should make the ambient-combat transition less jarring and annoying.
