  1. I will admit I find it a tad odd and surprising to see that Obsidian chose to censor the limerick, seeing as how this is the company that produced Caesar's Legion and Durance. Both of them preach about how conflict or "fires" can make you stronger while burning away the weak and unworthy. With stories like that, you think they'd have a mentality of how the world is harsh and you need to be willing to face that some people can and will offend you, but you need to be able to carry on. But again I'm a realist and I'm sure this was a decision made (decision to even ask Firedorn) moreso in the interest of marketing. Companies are notorious for being a place for ideologies to die. Do you find it a tad bit odd that Christian Bale is not actually Batman or a serial killer? I find that analogy a little weak. He played a part that was handed to him. Obsidian wrote and constructed those things themselves. You're better at writing about concepts you're passionate about, so it's odd to see writings about "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" on one hand and then a desire to protect someone's feelers in the next. As I said though, the realist answer is of course that marketing would never allow such potential drama like that limerick existing post-complaint.

  3. You mean you don't like rape horse? That's horsist dude.
  4. Thanks. I stand corrected. But that is one bad graphic (I guess they wanted to take the tumblr text and make it look more like a tweet or something). Reading through the tumblr, I think that's the point. I'm surprised you stand corrected too cause you raised good points about the text. But wtf.
  5. So vidya prevents rape? And if you are a woman who plays vidya, I guess it's internalized misogyny or something. Or you wanna be raped. Or you too want to rape other women. Or you're drunk. Whichever suits the patriarchy the best.
  6. BETTER NEVER BORN THAN FIREDORN Yeah I ruined my post count but this was totally worth it.
  7. Hi developer who's reading this thread. I'd just like to say I dun think Obsidian (or any company) should be afraid of voicing their opinion on such matters. I think a lot of people just want more communication as to the why's and how's, not so much attitudes of "you disagree with me? I hope you die in a fire while getting shot." I know this won't convince you to post, but I just felt like getting that out there, regardless. The GamerGate side is frustrated cause no dev seems willing to "stand up for them," though I think there's plenty of sensible members who also wouldn't fault a dev for not doing so. Hell, they wouldn't mind if a dev agrees with SJWs, so long as they earnestly agree and aren't pressured into agreeing, and so long as they can treat GGers with respect and respectful discussion. The SJWs, I also don't think are so rigid that they'll stone you to death if you were to say you guys only removed the limerick to save your hides. Jumping to conclusions and going for each other's throats gets nobody anywhere, discussion of where to draw the line is productive though. Now I have to go away to enjoy my 666 post count. Be back when I get bored of it.
  8. Has anyone thought this, ever? Maybe I'm late to the party but from what I read in this thread....yes lulz. Also my next post will be my 666th so I have to stop there because reasons.
  9. Slightly a tangent but for anyone thinking there's not wackos on both sides: And as I've stated in the past, there's STILL no real way to counter how blatantly Anita misrepresented New Vegas to fit her own agenda. Having said that though, at this point all people can do is express their concerns to Obsidian. I can sympathize with the disappointment, but I'm enough of a realist to know that the way Obsidian handled it is both expected and better than I thought they would (giving Firedorn a choice to keep the thing). ANY company would do the same because companies strive to sell products to as many demographics as possible. Why piss off the SJW demographic instead of trying to appeal to both that demographic and the people opposing it?
  10. SJW'S CRIED FIREDORN DIED I'll think up more political slogans in a sec once I'm done eating my sammich.
  11. So if any of that is remotely true. What she is saying is that the management of the company she is in charge of is sexist because they are unable to negotiate and award salaries without gender based prejudice. So her solution is to punish the guy at the bottom... Solid logic. Iknorite wtf? Also how is "men negotiate better than women" not a sexist statement? That's the first time I've heard that one and I'd love to hear her reasoning and evidence behind that statement. EDIT: Nevermind, started writing after that snippet, the article itself says there's actually evidence to suggest men do better at negotiation. Still I don't know that her solution is the way to go about creating equality...
  12. I would think so, but the thing with Monk is there's only so much attention it can get (when not tanking) OR if used properly, it gets attention round the clock. My Cipher easily gets just as much attention because those stuns are vital for tough battles, with Rogue being one that I perhaps "neglect" in the sense that Rogue could benefit from constantly going for flanked targets, but this doesn't really work out with my squad composition. I NEED either the Rogue or one of the Priests to help hold the line, so defensive tactics get prioritized over offensive ones there. The Monk can combine both with no harm done to his damage output. Wizard is another I neglect simply because the damage of Cipher and Monk's per encounter abilities seems better than that of Wiz, so sometimes I forget Wiz momentarily. Still, trust me on this. Monk's damage output seems to be the best in the game overall. I feel the point I want to make is that if you absolutely babysit any character, of course that character's damage ouput goes up significantly. Monk however I think sees the most significant increase, because there's constantly something you can do with the Monk (so long as it tanks some damage), whereas Rogue or Cipher or Wizard are going to have their down times. Can you share your monk build? Like I said, the entire squad was randomly rolled, so he's by no means optimized. Luckily I saved all their stats on a notepad. Here, check out how thorough I was with everything that got randomized : Note that I miscalced initially so I think he has a stat point free up or two, which I think got assigned to Resolve when I rerolled it. I got lucky that his stats actually landed on the recommended for the most part (Resolve isn't recommended for Monk according to the game itself) and the race roll was a huge stroke of luck aswell, but I sincerely doubt I've happened across some super build. As I've stated, my opinion? Some classes need very little management to be effective (Barb, Fighter), others need tons of management but the pay off is they have more capabilities in a battle. (Cipher) I think Monk is hands-down the most attention-demanding class in the game, but that also means the pay off is also the highest. Just stick a Monk in the very front, make him tank, and then spam the crap out of his attacks. Torment's Reach (one of the two beginning skills) is deceivingly awesome because every use of it is like a crit. If your monk takes a big hit, you can easily get 6-9 wounds from a single hit alone, which means you can spam down the enemy with constant Torment's Reach uses. Whereas a Rogue or Cipher can only be managed so much before you resort to just assigning it to autoattack, Monk will NEVER stop having management opportunities so long as it's taking damage, and as long as you're willing to give it the attention it needs, this is nothing but a good thing.
  13. Oh and also I hate that stupid **** a lot of youtubers do where EVERY THREE SECONDS they do a jump cut for no apparent reason, as if watching the person teleport back and forth is somehow more entertaining than seeing the person just say what they wanna say without the constant jump cuts.
  14. TOTALLY off-topic, but I have to bring this up somewhere so I can marvel at it and this seems like the most "relevant" spot (sorry in advance for being an off-topic tangent): Let me just say that I have never in my life been so bored by a woman wanting to discuss BDSM. I was genuinely in awe that she made that topic boring. And I marvel at a number of things here. I marvel at the idea that people need a guide (her little three words to keep in mind) to know how to....yknow, have a connection? Pro-tip: if the person legit needs that guide to know how to do bondage, you probably shouldn't do bondage with them. I also cannot for the life of me imagine her approach being romantic, because in my personal experience, most women have the attitude of "I will say if something bad is happening that's off-limits and to stop, and if we do something I simply don't like, I'll bring it up afterwards." Those very same women would consider that level of communication beforehand to be a turn-off, and I can understand why: part of what makes such a scenario so special is that you hit a point where your connection is so strong you don't NEED words to know what the other person wants. That's romantic, that's intimate, that's what people want. If that fails and someone does something wrong, then wtf you speak up, but until then you try to rely on your connection full-stop. Aside from that, three criticisms that had me doing double takes: 1) I like how she, for whatever reason, cited a study that blatantly disagreed with her and then proceeded to provide her opinion as to why feminism and BDSM don't collide. I have no idea if they do or if they don't, nor do I care, but I couldn't help but feel as though she was in denial that two things she liked were in direct conflict with one another and the vid was more to convince herself they don't collide rather than to convince others so much. AKA she may have posted it in hopes the comments section is an echo chamber that agrees with her. 2) ....Did she just say people that jog are masochists? WTF? That's gotta be the most retarded theory for why people enjoy pain as a sexual thrill that I've ever heard. Instead of trying to reason why pain might cause sexual thrill in some scenarios, she's saying all pain is some pleasure, right down to jogging and fitness? I have a theory of my own as to why pain can cause pleasure, and I promise you it's far more solid than hers, but it'd make feminists flip a ****. 3) Let's play a game, shall we? Feminists read too much into things and criticize artists for not thoroughly assessing all of the ramnifications of their work and the effect it could have on the audience. I propose that she just commited a taboo amongst feminists, because in calling joggers masochists, she's encouraging men to go hit on joggers and spank them on the ass without provokation because they'll like it. She's encouraging the mechanisms of the patriarchy. Bonus 4) "Interestingly, both men and women prefer the submissive role." No ****? Did you know that interestingly, both men and women like ****? What a useless statement to make...why did she even include that? What amazes me is I know multiple studies on this subject matter (what makes a person submissive) and I find it amazing she cited none of them. My brain is so full of WTF after watching that vid. It was just confused double take after confused double take for me.

  16. I again have to stress how underestimated Monk is. I recently thought it'd be fun to use randomizer.org to make a random squad. Random gender, race, class, stats, culture, appearance, voice, you name it. I ended up rolling a Priest, Rogue, Priest, Monk, Wizard and Cipher. Guess who's the tank for the party? The Monk Guess who has the highest damage dealt with double that of second place? The Monk Seeing as I have him alongside two other notorious damage dealers (Cipher and Rogue), I find this pretty conclusive evidence that Monk is HIGHLY underestimated. As I said, this may be the most OP class in the game and we just haven't realized it yet. One could argue that the Cipher's damage is cut down from the Mental Binding spam, but the Rogue has only managed half of the Monk's damage. Again you could argue this might change as they level up, but the Monk is still the superior tank and I'd still say the accomplishments thusfar are outstanding and worthy of praise. Only note again is that Monk needs babysitting. If you do not spam the hell out of their wound skills, it's just a less tanky fighter. The Monk skills NEED to be spammed, but each skill used is effectively a crit, and since the Monk is unarmed, they attack lightning fast. If you're willing to put in the effort to remember your Monk though, I see no reason to NOT include one in your squad.
  17. I'm sorry but: Zoe Quinn - Liar, perhaps pathologically so Brianna Wu - Liar, with some high school classmates claiming they were always "special" Anita Sarkeesian - Con-artist. To me this is clear as day by how nervous she looks on Colbert, if you believe the accounts that he asked tougher questions that got edited out Leigh Alexander - Alcoholic. Needs help Arthur Chu - Honestly, he sadly seems to be the most "normal" of the bunch. Ian Miles Cheong - Ex Neo-Nazi. People will debate the ex part, and even if you're Ex, this isn't exactly something you change just like that and all is good There are legit times where I actually feel bad and I feel sorry for getting involved with this stuff, because at times it seems obvious many of the voices for the opposition have no concrete grasp of what's going on and deserve pity more than anger. (some, obviously, as Anita by all means should be taken to court by someone) Even if you wish to claim "the same can be said for both sides"....can it? You may disagree with Milo's journalism and opinions, but he's mentally there. You may not like TotalBiscuit or his brand of humor, but he's fully stable. The only person who supports GG and has a flawed mentality in general would be the Amazing Atheist, because it seems obvious to me from the way the guy speaks that he's a narcissist with a sizeable ego, but even that only makes him obnoxious to listen to and I've yet to hear him be named as a part of GamerGate, he merely makes debunk vids for Anita on occassion. Point is this isn't anything new. The guys holding the mic for the anti side have been pretty questionable, either in their mental capacity or in their sincerity.
  18. Tobi is the strong and silent leader that you definitely don't wanna **** with.
  19. McMayhem you're new so here's some advice: ignore Bruce. He has this wonderful habit of trying to keep the ball in GamerGate's court, AKA he does a wonderful job of making GamerGate and GamerGate supporters defend their statements and defend against all sorts of strawman arguments, but will not and cannot for the life of him defend a single stance of his own (great example, ask him to expand on the point about a lack of inclusivity in games). You might defend your point in good faith, as would typically be expected in a normal debate. The problem is that the moment you're done explaining that evidence suggests the SJW freaks out and screams misogyny any time a female character is on the receiving end of violence, your reward will be an insincere "excellent post! You make some great points and I highly suggest everyone read this post " followed by a convenient leap over any counterpoints you may have had, directly jumping instead to another reason to potentially criticize you or GamerGate. The result is that any time Bruce comes into the discussion, people end up defending points that've already been defended twenty times before and no progress in discussion is actually being made because nothing new is being discussed and Bruce is seemingly incapable of self-reflection and realization when he may be wrong. FFS the "excellent post " responses are so empty and impersonal in regards to the context of the posts that I often wonder if he even reads them or just glosses them over briefly. But yeah if you want an actual discussion, respond to someone else who might challenge your points.
  20. A lot of the stuff people point out actually came up in the beta feedback. Some of it just wasn't changed.
  21. Woah, why have people been throwing Monk under the bus? Recently started a monk, beforehand my only experience being having one as a squadmate for a very brief amount of time, and Monk might be the most broken class in the game. It's like yknow how Rogue will hit harder so long as an enemy has an affliction? Monk can hit harder on command so long as it has wounds. As long as you stick Monk in the front and let it get hit in the face, you're gonna have more than enough wounds to SPAAAAAAM some hard hitting attacks and single-handedly wreck **** up. I can see how some might consider it weak because here's the thing: Monk needs constant attention. It's not like it's at risk of dying at any given moment, but rather with Monk you're trying to kill the enemy before it kills you. The wound skills provide the damage to accomplish that (easily) but if you're not spamming them, then you're just a squisher fighter. In that sense, Monk will have you pausing more frequently than any class (feels like very half second the monk can attack), but the rewards for doing so are more than worth it.
