  1. The industry is already being shaken by other factors. Kickstarter is a more an effect than a cause of said shaking.
  2. Pledges money to a high fantasy RPG Complains that it contains fantasy tropes
  3. Just for laughs, here is the Baldur's Gate Playstation 1 port: Yes, this is real.
  4. I don't know about in-game (seems like a waste of effort) but yeah that's a nice idea.
  5. Remember that these guys were just background music, not some embarrassing musical sequence like Leliana's song.
  6. These two were such a nice treat in SoZ. The regular tavern music started up and suddenly... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHDgpalcmAY I loved how the subtitles on screen were synced up with the music. So yeah. Singing bards in Project Eternity! For bonus points, they should also be a thinly veiled reference to a real life group.
  7. I think all "powerful" spells in this game will be high level (and thus not replenished by cooldown), but unlike D&D, the player will have at least some access to high level spells from the very beginning of the game.
  8. But only for lower level spells. Well if we go for the DnD example then being able to "spam" level 3 spells like fireball and haste would be way too powerful imo. Even being able to spam level 1 magic missiles at character level 20 would be a tad too much imo. Because of this I'm afraid they will nerf spells just because they don't fit in with a cooldown system. The dynamic of the wizard class be flattened to a ranged fighter. No, because you'll still have high level spells that replenish only on rest. Only in the endgame will you be high level enough to cast them with cooldowns. Maybe not even then.
  9. But only for lower level spells.
  10. Actually, Alpha Protocol had cooldowns.
  11. OMG! That is really, really bad. It's like they don't care for the combat in the old IE games at all? I just can't believe they are going with a cooldown system. Being able to run out of spells was one of the things that really made the combat in IE games special. It was also what allowed spellcasters to be much more powerful than other classes WHEN they had their entire spell repertoire available but it was also what made them vulnerable when they ran out of spells! Cooldowns will flatten this dynamic making wizards no more "spellcasters" than other classes using their abilities. Read this: http://i.imgur.com/o4NHz.png
  12. If you're talking specifically about the Formspring link, that was already linked twice on the previous page. Yeah, I assumed so, but this adds more context plus it's easy to link the image to other people.
  13. Here's some more context on what Josh answered on his Formspring: http://i.imgur.com/o4NHz.png
  14. One must distinguish between filler combat and trash mobs. Filler combat usually involves trash mobs, but not all trash mobs are filler combat (ie, if they're optional encounters, as they often were in BG1)
  15. Yes, if that's the case then I agree with you that this mechanic would be out of place. I wonder if an Obsidian developer could weigh in on this...?
  16. It would be nice to have greater variety between clerics of different faiths.
  17. I figure if they're going to implement stances, we might as well have full use of them. To be honest, slashing somebody with a sword while prone never made sense anyway, so I'm not sure why Tim even had to bring it up.
  18. In the latest Reddit Q&A, Tim Cain says: Seems like this is mainly a problem with melee attacks, since they require complex animations for actual physical contact between different character models. It doesn't sound like it would be too complex to let us fire bows and guns while prone/crouched, since the animations for that should be completely autonomous. Plus, firing while prone/crouched could grant the character a sharpshooting attack bonus, or something like that.
  19. appropriate title. Seriously, if you really want this, that's what the Steam overlay is for.
  20. Don't you guys know Josh Sawyer? It's gonna be fantasy Darklands.
  21. I don't get it. How would you restock on more "magic"?
  22. Adventurer's Hall, not Hall of Heroes. Man, this game already has companions. Are we going to have another "PLZ NO SOULLESS PCS" debacle like with Wasteland 2?
  23. I imagine they might add more to the game but I doubt they'll remove anything. Any company interested in doing Kickstarters MUST have stellar PR with the hardcore fans funding the game, or they won't be able to do another one. Or is this just a thinly disguised attempt to bitch about a feature you don't like?
